We are booked for July 2nd thru the 5th. We will be using the dining plan for the first time (DW wants to try it out). On the 3rd we are going to MK and have an ADR at The Crystal Palace. On the 4th we are going to AK and then have an ADR at Chef Mickey’s. From there we plan to go to the beach at the Poly and watch the fireworks for the 4th. We haven’t decided what we are doing the day we arrive yet. We are toying with just staying at the resort and eating at Boatwright’s, but we are also toying with going to Cape May Café because we haven’t been to that part of the world yet. One thing is for sure though somehow, someway I’m going to Riverside for their create your own pasta. We stayed there for spring break last year and it was awesome!!!!!
Whereabouts at POR were you? Thinking of booking 5 nights there...

I'm not the poster you asked, but we stayed in a Royal Room last June and LOVED it ( and I'm sort of a snob about the resorts....a nice snob, I promise)
Lol. Well, we've stayed at poly twice (and loved it both times) and BC once (also really liked the resort itself, but not for that trip). So I'm a little Leary of going to a mod. Booked 4 nights at GF right now, but we could do 5 nights for a little less (with discount) at POR so I'm seriously considering it. I love the trees and shade and all the quiet pools.

It really is beautiful. We always avoided it because we live in Charleston, SC, and sort of felt like it was too much like home in its theming, but we loved it. The Royal Rooms are fantastic and the offerings at the food court are way better than the deluxes. Our main (really only) complaint was the buses! There were days where it was pretty bad, but that's the case at many of the resorts, nothing specific to POR.
That's the great thing about POR! There are so many rooms close to a bus stop and quiet pool. In the Royal Room we were in we had a river view (free upgrade) and a quiet pool right next door. Walking the shortcut path we were a 3 minute walk to the main bus stop. Have you checked out the POR resort thread? It's fantastic and one of the members maintains a huge site all about the resort with amazing building layout diagrams and everything!! I agree with your choice to spend the extra money on fun! That's why we did that last summer too!
I'm a big fan of his site (and the thread as well). Almost stayed at POFQ last year, but then we splurged on the Poly...

Wow. I am still in shock!! I have said before that my DH is overseas. He called last night saying he was in Baltimore. He got in late and he needed to find a hotel, I am anxious to find out why he came back early. Don't get me wrong, I am VERY excited to have him back early. My mind goes to "I hope he is ok". My kids reaction to this was a high that lasted well into the 10 hour....
One step closer to retirement (20) years active, one step closer to Disney! Have a great day and weekend. Do something super fun with your family. Can't wait to have mine complete

We are so very happy for you and your family. I know I've moved over to the DARK SIDE (DLR instead of WDW) But I am still subscribed to this thread and got your post notification...

That is so exciting!!
Wow, I really have no clue about military doings but is that a common thing, getting to the states and you not knowing til he gets there?? Or maybe you did know.
If you didn't just sounds so weird to me. Do things happen all of a sudden like that?
Anyway hope he's home soon.
My DH now works in FL and is only home on weekends sometimes. I think that's difficult. Can't imagine what you've gone through.

Nope. I did not know. And you are correct, it does not happen very often that they come home surprise like that. I think you must have missed my "my mind goes to, I hope he is ok".
