*** The Official July 2014 thread, join us won't you? ***

Get there for rope drop, hit all the headliners, and head back to the resort when the parks hit the Point of Diminishing Returns at arounc lunchtime. Head back for dinner and fireworks.

That's what we did in June of last year. The midday break really worked for us!

We always go in the summer and it's definitely hot but not unmanageable. My biggest tip is to always have a bottle or cup of water with you because it's so easy to get dehydrated when walking around in the sun!! I am also a big advocate of getting into air conditioned shows around the afternoon, 20 minutes of sitting in a comfy seat in the AC can do wonders. Definitely be careful at AK and World Showcase, pop in and out of shops if you have to because the sun can be brutal in those areas. Also, treat yourself to plenty of Mickey bars :)

Hi, All,

So I joined this group late and then I had to go MIA!

Long story short, my dad was in a very horrific car accident and that took my attention. It also put a question mark over our trip. I then got run down and very sick myself. However, my dad is nothing short of a miracle and is doing pretty well.

Sooooo... we have officially booked for POFQ for June 25 - July 4.

Now I'm behind on ADRs and such, but we eat at off times. Plus, with two of us it isn't quite as hard.

Let the planning begin! :cool1:

Our thoughts are with you and your Dad...

DD, Midori goes in today for Orthoscopic Surgery on her ankle. She tore Cart. in her right ankle playing in her Basketball game on Saturday. Day surgery - no over night. In at 8am and expected to be out and on our way home by 2pm.

Midori is sad, no basketball fo the rest of the season. 21 games left, so she will have to be a Cheerleader for the rest of the season.

Another reason for being sad, this is the last year to play sports with her friends before going separate ways to High School........

We are just back from 5 days at WDW - Poly CL. We had no problems upgrading our tickets to AP - our MB worked perfectly and we utilized FP+ for all of the days without trouble... loved every second of it! If you have any questions for your July trip about any of these things I'd be happy to help! We even booked another trip (really getting the bang for our buck with our AP) for Oct/Nov! :-)

I am sorry for Midori. Hope surgery goes well for her today. :).

Anyone here have tricks on how to get over an asthma attack without going to the ER? I won't bore you with the deals.

But if you are an asthma sufferer, please pm me ;)

I hope Midori heals up quickly. I know it has to be rough to miss part of her season!

Thanks - Midori did very good. Surgery at 8:15 AM and out at 9:00 AM, into recovery until 12:45 PM. Checked her out, signed paperwork and paid my deductible and took her home.

Midori was acting silly ..... first time for pain medicine. We were laying in bed watching TV and once in a while she would just start laughing for no reason at all and then looked over at me and said why did I start laughing?

I told her it was the medicine. She asked me when she would start feeling pain, told her if we do exactly what we need to do, she would only feel pain when she got up to go to the bathroom and to adjust herself in bed.

WELL - 2:00 AM this morning, the other side of Midori came out. WOW!!!! she was a bear and blamed me for all the pain she was experiencing. Got her to calm down and gave her another pain pill and she went back to sleep.

Making her a cake right now and waiting for her to wake up.

Well better late than never. We'll be there again this July. Since we'll be there the whole month, not sure what dates we'll be actually in Disney. We had a blast last July except for the July 4th crowds :( , but nothing is worse than Christmas. UGH!!! Experienced that this year.

We LOVED being in FL for July last year but it's really hard to go home after such a long stay.
We're leaving in a couple of weeks for Feb. vacation to get away from all this cold!! and will be back again in April to see Our town's H. S. March in MK :)
Nice to see some familiar DISers from last year. Happy planning!!

So glad the surgery went well.

I think you have chose the correct option by making a cake to try to tame the pain medicine beast. That part made me laugh. Hehe. Pain meds can be "fun."

Haven't been on for a week or so but I'm happy to say our ADRs are booked. Dinner at Be Our Guest and Cinderella's Royal Table. Very excited!! On a slightly different note I have two quick questions:
1) how long is the bus ride from the parks back to the hotel? Definitely planning on mid-day breaks and I just want to know how much time to budget.
2) I keep reading about teenage tour groups in the month of July. Just how bad are they? Any suggestions for avoiding these loud, pushy groups?

TIA

Joanne

The tour groups can annoying and obnoxious that's for sure. Not sure how to avoid them w/ out knowing what parks they'll be in. It seems they are everywhere. :(
As for bus times, depends where you stay. I know that times can vary so much depending on time of day, the park, the resort.... Sorry I wasn't much help. I really do hate Disney transportation it always takes longer than expected.

:welcome: to our happy "hottest time of the year" group! So glad to have some newbies and veteran groups with us. Love the mix that we get so we can all help each other with our questions. I myself have never been to WDW in July but I am an experienced August member. I kind of just assume we will endure the same types of weather episodes in July as in August. Happy to have you on board. When you get more information please post them and I will add you to the touring and ADR posts. When I have your exact dates (ddluvsdisney) I will add you to the front page. Thrillridejunkie, I will add you now!
