*** The Official July 2014 thread, join us won't you? ***

That is awesome advice, and perfectly stated! What one family enjoys and what works for them may not be what works for another family. Just take it all in and make your own decisions.

I was once flamed/blasted by someone on the boards because I told them not to tell someone to not eat at a restaurant. I explained that they should tell that person what their experience was and why they would or wouldn't go back. They said they have never had a good experience at this restaurant and didn't know anyone who did. I said that I have had 3 great experiences at this restaurant but that didn't mean I would tell the person they must go there.

See what experiences people have had, see if those types of issues would bother your family, see if you would even consider that type of venue (food, atmosphere, etc.), if it fits in your schedule, and then whether others experiences will sway your mind. I have found some others experiences to be the same that I have had, both good and bad, but if I want to eat somewhere, that is my decision especially since I am paying with my money. When someone else decides to pay for my vacation, then they may have more of a call in what I do!!! Any offers???:lmao: :rotfl2:

Seriously though, we are all adults and can decide what is best for our family. I am sure we all have working brains and therefore you get your facts and make your decisions from there. We had a HORRIBLE meal experience at one restaurant, but I would never tell someone not to go there. That was our experience not necessarily theirs and I wouldn't want to unduely influence them one way or another. If you ask my advice or for my experience, I will give it, but only then.

Please add us to the list. Just booked yesterday for July 5-12, 2014.:cool1: We can not wait to go. Since the wind chill is going to be 30-40 below zero tonight I'm thinking about July and it being 100 degrees. It sounds really good right now!!

We are Ohioans too! Off for snow/cold days until Wednesday! ❄️❄️❄️

I stared booking our ADRs yesterday. Later than our 180 mark but was still pretty successful. I wasn't able to book BOG. And was only able to book a table for 10 at Yachtsman Steakhouse~there are 14 in our group.

We have the deluxe dining plan because we wanted as much as possible paid in advance. I booked 9 buffets. That way everyone will be able to find items they love.

This will be the first Disney trip for several of the kids. I figure character meals will be the best way for them to rack up autographs. Much better option than waiting in hot lines.

I wish we could meet Tiana, Anna and Elsa and a character meal.:goodvibes

Absolutely!! I have only had one really bad dining experience in all of our trips. It wasn't the service--it was the food that was awful. We won't go back to that restaurant again, but I won't blast the place unless specifically asked about it. We've even had experiences where we went to a restaurant one year and loved it, and then when we went back again, it wasn't the same quality. Sometimes our dining experiences depends on the day "we" as a family are having, too!

I can't go to Disney without going to 'Ohana, though. That's one place that has just been consistently awesome. In my own personal experience, Disney dining is more about the experience than the food itself--although I definitely appreciate an excellent meal!

In the past, our Disney trips have always consisted of only "my" family--myself, husband, and 3 boys. My mom (who is 80 years young) and I wound up taking my youngest for a couple days to attend my cousin's wedding last summer, and we just had a BLAST on the one day we had at the parks. Let me tell you--that woman went all day from the rope drop at MK to Fantasmic at HS! She's amazing! You should see the video of Grandma and Aiden dancing to hip-hop at the Monsters University Homecoming bash. I digress...

So, this year, my mom wanted to go back, and after years of convincing (and a bit of guilt-tripping), we talked my older brother and his 17 year old daughter to join us. I am looking for any advice to really get my niece enthused about the vacation. Even though I have talked it to death and have shown her pics, she STILL considers Disney all about little kids. She's thinking it's ALL Fantasyland-type stuff. Anybody else deal with the issue of getting a teenager excited about Disney? I KNOW she'll love it when we get there, but I want her to be excited NOW!

Teens love You Tube - Teens upload Disney BLOG's and Video's of their day to day experiences. Maybe you can share them with your niece.

My DD 14 has her own You Tube Channel below. maybe you can start there...

Woohoo ADR's made! I feel like we're getting somewhere now!! :cool1:

So here's what we have so far....

7/1 - arrival day, probably not to CBR until 4-ish, so we'll either order pizza or get something fast and just chill

7/2 - Epcot day, no ADR's (at least not yet). Maybe we'll change our minds

7/3 - Magic Kingdom, Plaza for lunch at 12, BOG for dinner at 4:30 (the only time available other than 8:15!)

74 - Hollywood Studios, Sci Fi at noon, 50's Primetime at 5

7/5 - nothing day. Sleep in, swim at the resort Dinner at T-Rex at 6:00

7/6 - Animal Kingdom, Tusker house at 8:00. Maybe go to Hollywood Studios in the evening after AK closes

7/7 - Typhoon Lagoon, dinner at ESPN Club at the Boardwalk. No ADR's, it's a walk up. Maybe Beaches & Cream for dessert?

7/8 - Magic Kingdom, 8:05 am CRT. (I may cancel this. Not sure I can handle $200 on one breakfast!) No evening ADR because we don't know where we'll be. I'm guessing we'll spend the evening at whatever park we feel we didn't see enough of!?

7/9 - Head home! We don't fly out til almost 6, so we'll have to get on the bus about 3. No idea what we'll do. Maybe just swim, shop, whatever...

Any thoughts or advice? I made 2 ADR's on the 3rd & 4th because I'm guessing it will be outrageously busy! Also, I was thinking of a 10 am at Kona the day we leave. Anyone have any thoughts on what to do that day??

This is our itinerary so far:

July 3- Arrive at Port Orleans French Quarter (I know I had said POR on my first post, I made a mistake on that, sorry!)
July 4- Animal Kingdom and dinner at Contemporary
July 5- Magic Kingdom and dinner at Be Our Guest
July 6- Downtown Disney with lunch at T-Rex / Pool day
July 7- Hollywood Studios with lunch at Sci-Fi drive in
July 8- Not sure / Epcot
July 9- Not sure / Epcot
July 10- Not sure / whatever we feel we missed
July 11- Magic Kingdom with breakfast at Crystal Palace
July 12- Head back to Iowa

I'm dying here! It's our first trip and I am soooo stoked!! :cool1:

So, we're driving from Wisconsin and leave Saturday morning and with a hotel stop, arrive at PO Sunday (Jun 30) eve. Plan to walk around Downtown that Sunday eve and grab some chow.

Monday: Bring it on!! MK with ADR @ Cinderella's Castle!!!!!!!!

Tuesday: AK with lunch at Tusker

Wednesday: Epcot with dinner at Akershus

Thursday: MK with dinner at Crystal Palace and pirate/mermaid makeovers at Pirate's League

Friday: Probably MK again with dinner at Chef Mickey's

This wait is going to kill me! And I'm hoping that we can catch fireworks somewhere along the line!
