I would abandon EMH at that point. That said, I fall into the category of people who avoid Morning EMH like the plague, but will happily hang out in the MK at 230am. 615 is way way way too early to be up and ready on vacation!
We are normally a pretty happy RD family - DD3 and I are not night people so DH has adapted to becoming a RD fan. I couldn't imagine being able to function at 2am at MK! But I guess that is why WDW has things for both morning people and night owls!

We did AK 7:00am EMH over Thanksgiving week a couple of times. It was early but we had about 21/2 hours in the park with almost nobody else there. Walked on all the headliners during one of the busiest weeks of the year. It was one of my favorite AK days we've had. We will be at WDW on the 16th......it's tempting but I promised my family we would take it easy this trip. :)
DH wants to go for it... he loves the idea of it being so empty for most of our morning there! And that says something... he is NOT a morning person! But that's what he wants to experience! I think we are going to go for it!

We do not do morning EMH because it is too hard to get my crew moving in the morning. I have been looking at wait times for the past couple of weeks on the same days of the week that we will be going to the parks. On June 9th AK had morning EMH at 8:00am and at 9:45 the waits did not seem too long to me. KS was 25 mins., EE, KRR, and Dinosaur were all 10 mins., and Triceratop Spin was 5 mins. Tomorrow AK has a 7:00am morning EMH. You could check the wait times during the morning tomorrow and see how they look to you.

If they are still low at 10:00am then you will probably be all right if you do not arrive at 7:00am but get there around 8:00am. EasyWDW says that you should have success until 10:00am but that the afternoon will be busier than other days that week. Since you are planning to spend the afternoon at your resort you will probably be okay.
Thank you so much for all of that research for me! I will follow along the wait times at AK today. We are planning to head out of the park after lunch that day (around 1pm) for a resort afternoon/evening so maybe that we would be ok!

I leave in 10 days and had my touring plans all set and then for 6/29 they change EMH from evening to morning and now my plans are totally messed up.
Is is sick that I get part of a rush from having to re-plan somethings in my touring plan when this happens? It can be frustrating at the same time... but secretly I love having the chance to tweak our plans further!!!

Thanks everyone for your thoughts! This is why I love the Dis... when you get such a nice group of people together who just want to support each other and help each other have wonderful vacations! Thank you so much everyone!! Hopefully I will get a chance to meet some of you soon!

A 7am opening is a game changer. I *think* I could have my minions up and ready.
If any of you have done a 7 am open, how was it?

30 days from right now we will already be on the road!! Planning to wake up at 4am that day with DH, get ready, pack the car and then wake the kids. We will leave as soon as everyone is ready and has a small snack to hold them over, hit the bagel store to bring bagels for breakfast a couple of hours into the drive, then hit the road! This is our tradition for the morning we leave on every trip! We usually have pizza the night before for dinner but this time I'm thinking maybe Chinese so I could get something healthy...the local place makes steamed chicken with eggplant, garlic sauce on the side, and I get brown rice with it. A nice healthy dinner before all the WDW eating! ;)

It says on MDE that today is the last day to customize our magic bands!!! Does this mean they ship tomorrow?

Our last day to customize was Monday and I just received the shipping email today.

Which is what I came on here to post ........ OUR MAGIC BANDS SHIPPED - YEAHOO!!!!!! :yay:
The tracking says they won't arrive until NEXT Wed, but there's no way it'll take a week. They're coming from Memphis, which I think is where the Disney Store items come from, and I sometimes get my orders from there in the mail before I even receive updated tracking info, so hopefully soon!

We were at 30 days yesterday, woohoo! :cool2: We also drive, but it only takes us 6.5 hours so we don't have to get up as early as you. My tradition the night before we leave is to do some sort of Mickey food. Last year our dessert was cupcakes with two Oreos in them as Mickey ears :thumbsup2

Wow, 6.5 hours away! We are 17 hours away so we stop over for 2 nights. We do the longest drive the first day. On the second night, we stay a very short drive from WDW so we can max out our time there on check in day.

Me too! We had a pre park opening breakfast scheduled and now it's during EMH. I'm leaving it since we want the breakfast but GRRRRR.

But y'all! 10 DAYS until Disney!

Yay!!! That's super news!!!! I'm at the beach and my husband texted this morning and said he'd open them and take a picture for me if they come before we get back and I said ' don't you dare open them!!!' Hahahahahaha!

We're late July so we still have 39 days left to go. I'm so anxious for the time to come, but I don't want to wish the summer away either.

My question is if any of you have not told your kids yet? I spent an embarrassing number of hours watching youtube videos of last minute surprises. I may or may not have cried. I've been torn about how/when to tell them, but that left me wanting to do a last minute surprise. DH is pretty set on telling them a couple weeks in advance, so they can help with the packing and have something to look forward to. HELP!

I don't even have kids and I have teared up watching these, so don't be ashamed! I think it would be so amazing to do a last minute surprise. Like, get them in the (already loaded) car, and tell them you are going to the store or something and show up at the airport! Or wake them up by blasting it's a small world or something throughout the house. I don't think there are many bad ways to go about this.

I keep telling my husband I want a surprise Disney trip :lmao:

One of my sisters is taking my nephew and two nieces on a disney trip in May, and I will be meeting up with them for at least a day. It will be all of their first times. I'm going to be a weepy lady. Sharing Disney is so much fun!

My group is so excited. We received our Magic Bands & we had awesome shirts made for only $5 each. It's good to know printers ;)

There are 15 of us and we have our final meeting regarding the trip next week. We have our ME luggage tags, vouchers, etc. we also got all the FP+ choices we wanted. I took advantage of the little loophole in the tier system and got 3 tier 1 rides. Thanks for the tip my friends.

24 days to go :cool1:

The first time we took our son, 3 years ago, we didn't tell him where we were going and the look on his face was completely worth it when we drove into the gates (we were staying off site, so he just thought we were going to FLA)
This time he knows, only because on our last day there he asked when we were going back and we told him when he was 8. He remembered...

Ugh, I'm such a sap also. How is it that I can be completely stoic at the office then then be reduced to tears over a complete stranger's video? At least I'm not alone!

We could totally pull it off as a surprise with the packing and everything. We're a couple hours from the airport, so we'll be driving to my parents' house the night before. We go there for weekends all the time, so they'd think nothing of it. We could tell them the night before or even the morning of. How fun would it be to lay out their clothes (Mickey t's, of course) and tell them to get dressed (at 4am) only to tell them that we are going to Disney RIGHT NOW?!

that would be so great! I vote for morning of. It would be so magical! Or, make mickey pancakes for breakfast and see if they get suspicious. :)

DH is going to kill you for egging me on like this! Of course, it doesn't help that just this morning when I was driving them to summer camp, we were talking about some days I planned to take off to spend some special time with them. What did they say? "Can we go to Disneyworld?"

Hey, I've got to live vicariously through someone! :D

Those kids sound like me. My Dad's house always had a 7 foot designated completely Disney themed Christmas tree separate from the main one, and all lawn decorations were required to be Disney. Santa Mickey topper on the tree. I think I have been a princess for at least 15 halloweens. Begged to spend every single birthday at Disney. Whenever we went on vacation, I pleaded to go to Disney. Even for just a day. Went at least once, usually twice every year. I would live there if they'd let me... I would gladly sleep on a main street bench lol!

For some of us, it's just in our blood. :hyper:
I blame my obsession on genetics.

I know! I'm usually the responsible one (okay, we're both very responsible) and was initially worried about setting expectations for this kind of surprise and trip on a regular basis. But the more I think about it, the more I realize that they are only going to be young once, so why not let them be kids and experience the magic?

You're a true fan! Sounds like a great childhood. I probably shouldn't tell you this, but this is actually our first time taking the kids! I know, they're eight and five and it took us this long. We've been talking about it and watching videos, but they really have no idea what they're in for!
