There is no chance of Free Dining for January.
The pins have already gone out for Play/Stay/Dine.

We won't know for sure what the discounts are until they are released. Hopefully soon!

The Play/Stay/Dine and Room discount pins have been released for a month.

That is the promo(s) for January.

It is released via pin first.

At the end of September it will turn into a Disney Visa offer.

The end of the 1st/start of the 2nd week of October it will be bookable as a general public offer.

I know people keep hoping for Free dining but it will not be offered.

I think the biggest thing is Disney keeps threatening to do away with free dining, so if January hasn't done it for 2 years I don't see them adding it back. MLK week has become insanely popular over the years and with the races they have no need to push people to come.

Exactly !

I have decided that we are going to Disney! It's going to be a surprise for the kids and its our first trip so we are doing 3 days, 2 nights... The kids are 4, 6, 7, and 8... The oldest will be 9 in November and the boy will be turning 8 Jan 9th so originally I thought we would extend Christmas vacation a few days BUT I changed my mind in thinking there may still be a crowd from Christmas so if we go the following week the boy will be able to spend his birthday with Mickey!! I need help planning though!

Consider extending your vacation so that you will have one full day at each park. The dates you are looking at are also around marathon weekend...

My fear of cranky kids who are tired of walking is why I am only considering doing 3 days.. More of a practice run! If all goes well we will probably return in November for a week or so.

We did the same thing back in May but went for 4 days. I can honestly say we felt very rushed. This trip is for 8 days with one relaxation day thrown in.

Was that your first trip? I have been to Disney world twice, last time being over 13 years ago. My plan is to not have a plan except where we are sleeping and eating. And with this being a surprise I can't really have the kids make any decisions in planning so I think if we go and walk around all day it will be okay because we will be walking at Disney world!!!

It was our first family trip and my first time ever staying on site I hadn't been since my high school grad night back in 2004 and before that's could not tell you the last time before that

Welcome!

Crowds are fairly thin. Pack a sweatshirt!

Have fun on this site. You can learn everything here. :-)

Glad you made it over to the thread. :)

As far as the Fireworks go: Wishes in MK is almost every night at either 8pm or 9pm and Illuminations in Epcot is every night at 9pm. Some of the times/days will change. As you get closer to your arrival day you can check on the Disney site to check for exact times.

Do you know about Extra Magic Hours?? When you stay on site you get into the parks an hour early or you can stay 3 hours later. For example on Jan 19th we will be going to MK. The park will close at 9pm but because we are staying on site we can stay at MK till midnight that night. There are Extra Magic Hours every day but it is only one park each day. pixiedust:

For the dining plan is there any possibility of upgrading your plan to a Regular Dining Plan? I think it is like an extra $18.00 per day per person. But with the Regular Dining Plan you get one Table Service Meal per day. You can do alot of the character meals as your Table Service meal each day. We love doing the character meals - my kids are 8 and 6 but my 15 year old niece still loves them as well.

I have never been to WDW in Jan. We usually go in Sept/Oct so I am not sure about the decorations or the weather. :confused3
