**The Official January 2012 WDW Thread**

Okay new question time!!

What resort are you staying at and why did you pick it?

Port Orleans French Quarter - that was the very 1st resort we stayed at and fell in love. Its small and compact plus we find it to be quiet, and we like the theming.

We are staying at Pop - wanted a value and I like that Pop is more centrally located and doesn't share a bus.

That's too funny!! You probably made a better choice since the prior week is a holiday and more apt for crowds.

And so glad to hear you are on-site again! Nothing beats being on-property, IMHO.

I'm excited as well:cheer2:

My question of the day

When do you plan to pack for your trip?

:sad2: I started last night. I've been collecting stuff for the trip in a pile beside my bed, well last night I decided to go ahead and bite the bullet and packed the kids outfits and a few extras.

I have the girls clothes in a collapsible hamper in my room. but I haven't put them in daily ziploc bags yet.

I think I will start packing later this year, like only 1-2 weeks prior (normally I do 4-6 weeks prior), so I can get a better idea of weather. Right now my plan is to take: swimsuit, shorts, t-shirts, long-sleeves, pants, sweater, jeans, light jacket, heavier coat, gloves, hat, scarf -- in other words EVERYTHING!:rotfl2::rotfl:

but I'm hoping if I wait closer to the date, then I can eliminate some (hopefully, the heavier items). When we went in December a few years back we were in winter coats, gloves and hats. Another time in February, we were in no jackets.

My question of the day

When do you plan to pack for your trip?

Probably over the Christmas/ New Years holidays, I will be off for a 4 day weekend Christmas weekend and then have a 3 day weekend over New Years when DH won't be home much, he will have to work some on the actual holiday. DH will probably wait until the last minute and if he forgets something, too bad.

I always have a toiletry bag ready to go in a moments notice, I will check it a couple of weeks ahead of time to make sure everything in there is enough for the trip and replace accordingly.

There will be a few last minute things I will need to do on Jan 6 while DH is at the dentist and the house is quiet, we have to take our rabbit to her sitter and then we plan on hitting the road around 2 or 3.

When do you plan to pack for your trip?

Now that we have our trip to Williamsburg Va. done and over with, it is time to focus on our cruise/Disney trip. I have started today going out and getting the little things that we will need such as our vanity. And since I have a highboy dresser in our room, I stick all of our things under there until it is time to pack. But our real packing will not begin until about a week before we leave. I just put away our suitcases from our last trip, I am in no hurry to see them again until I have to.

So I just showed DH information about the new Project Exotic coming to the Richard Petty Driving School at MK and he started drooling. It opens up in January...If it's not *too* expensive, I think I will sign him up.

He likes Disney a lot but is not a fanatic like me and the girls. This would give him some time to do something unique and give a new appreciation for Disney!

Inside the Magic just posted info on it. Google if interested in reading more but the gist of it is that you get to ride exotic cards (Porsche, Lamborghini's, etc) around the track. Not my thing but I can see how it "revs the engines" of our guys!:rotfl2:

Marshay, my husband would love to do that, he did the ride along for our 5th Anniversary, this woud be a great way to celebrate the 10th.

My question of the day

When do you plan to pack for your trip?

As soon as I get the Christmas things down and put away...........hopefully by Jan. 3.
I have some things in a cupboard.........but for most need to wait and see the weather forecast too.

When do you plan to pack for your trip ?

3 days before the flight.....I'm not crazy, I'm just super-organized ! I found a good packing list (here on the boards or in allears.net, I don't remember...)....But I already have started to collect some things in my suitcase (like....my DIS-bagpack, a sport bottle, additionnal shoes and socks, a bathing suit....)

Marshay, my fiance would love that! Sounds like a great thing to sign your husband up for! :)

I won't do any real packing until 2 days before we leave so that I can see the extended weather forecast for the trip. But I have one suitcase set out in my closet so I can toss little trip things that I know we won't use between now and then in there as I come to them, like the kids' pins & lanyards, the wallet-on-a-string that I only use when traveling, and other little odds and ends. I also have a Disney hook in my closet with all the outfits I've made for my girls to help me keep my still-to-make list organized.

I will pack for all 3 of us the night before. We're not telling our little guy we're going. I'll pack him when he goes to bed. We want to see how long it takes for him to figure where we are going. He's 5 and can't read so it should be fun.

cool!

As long as it's not *too* expensive, I will sign DH up. His birthday is in March so I'll just give it to him as an early birthday present -- that he also has to help pay for!!!:rotfl::rotfl2: I'm a SAHM so either way, he ends up paying for it!

I'll post back on here if/when I find out more info.

FYI -- Just talked to Richard PEtty school and they said they'd have more info in mid-November. The experience will be driving and street course style plus acceleration and speeds in excess of 100 mph. Cars are 600hp and Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porche, Audi and Chevy.

Current prices for the stock cars to drive them start at $478.19 (including tax) for 8 laps and go upwards of $2,235.40 for 50 laps.:scared1::scared1:

It appears they charge everyone the base price to see if you can handle the 8 laps. Then you add on laps from there.

I bet that adrenaline gets pumping and guys add on more laps than they intended to pay!!:rotfl2::eek::eek:

Thank you for checking on that, I will watch for the additional info. But, unfortunately at that price, I think we will have to skip it, I was hoping they would offer the ride along, like they do for the race car experience.

We got to ride in a Viper last year at Talladega for free for like 4 laps
