The Official Gilmore Girls Thread

I'm still catching up on the old seasons so I'm not much help. I watched last night but have to admit I was confused, lol. Is Rory at Yale? I thought she attended Harvard. Is undergraduate over as her grandparents offered Rory a drink and I didn't realize she is supposed to be 21 now.

Rory started her internship with Logan's dad and spent her time "shadowing" him (how could he determine her qualities that way?). Rory & Logan had dinner at the Gilmores and Logan tried to steal an antique sewing kit and leave a knick-knack from another rich family (he told Rory he always takes something and leaves something else and the rich folks never know - unfortunately Lorelai overheard). Of course, Emily immediately missed the sewing kit and began making a big stink even accusing the maid of taking it, so Lorelai yelled that she found it and Logan had to give it to Lorelai to keep from getting found out. I admit I'm not impressed with Logan. I also thought it seemed presumptuous for Logan to refer to the Gilmores by their first names right off the bat - perhaps they already knew each other? Lorelai had a few meetings with a bigwig who wants to invest in her inn or buy it outright. She seemed to be considering it which I thought seemed odd given how long she has wanted to have her own inn.

Next week's previews showed Logan's dad telling Rory she didn't have "it" and Lorelai asking a very-pregnant Suki how she first knew she was pregnant. Is that number 2, btw?

Thank you so much! Someone finally answered my question! :sunny: Oh, and Logan's family knows the Gilmore's quite well and in the first episode where they introduced him he called the grandfather "Richard." And it's obvious they adore him. But I agree with whoever said that they wouldn't like him so much if they knew Rory and him were doing the wild thing :smooth: :teeth:

Thanks Mal. So after 3 yrs (seasons) of hearing that Rory wanted to attend Harvard her whole life, she chooses Yale? Did she not get in to Harvard or was it money and being close to home? I figured it was a given that she was going to Harvard, lol.

ETA, I like Luke but kinda wanted Lorelai to end up with Christopher.

Her grandfather was pushing Yale on her b/c that's where he graduated from. It was a big dramatic thing for a while and Loralei was so mad at him. He had convinced Rory to spend a day at Yale with him for some alumni event and he set up an interview with the admissions guy without tell her ahead of time. Rory, Lorelai, and Emily were all pretty upset with him for it but he said that he just wanted her to have other options. Well the more she looked and learned about Yale the more she liked what she saw and in the end she applied and got accepted so that's where she's at now :)

Someone mentioned Logan's age as 22 (maybe Lorelei??) so he is legally able to drink.

I didn't like how that sewing kit thing went down. Logan made himself look like a jerk. But, I still like him :flower: .

Oh yeah on next week's previews it also looks like Sookie has her baby for those who missed this week's episode.

Ok, a day late and a dollar short...that's my motto. I just saw this week's episode last night and...well, it really ticked me off.

What was the whole deal with Emily acting like Lorelai was some trailer trash girl who couldn't possibly have anything in common with the likes of them or Logan? It was just too weird. And why the heck did Lorelai just sit there and take it? It seemed so out of character for her.

I like Logan but he acted like a twit and I'm really not fond of the way Rory acts around him. That whole scene where she was talking about Googling his dad--she was talking in this really little girl voice and it was so...again...out of character. What's up with that?

Also...did you get the feeling with Lorelai considering that offer to sell interest in the inn and be a consultant...that it was tying in with that whole thing with Dean telling Luke that he wouldn't be enough for her? I thought that comment was odd...Lorelai was the one who ditched the whole rich family scene to live in Star's Hollow...for 20 YEARS. Why would she suddenly decide that it's not enough?

DD didn't see the episode so I need another perspective! Opinions, please? Mal, you out there?

I'm not defending Emily's actions by any means, but I kind of understand why she was so mad at Lorelei. After the wedding, Lorelei swore up and down she'd never speak to her mother again, never attend another Friday night dinner, etc. Then, all of a sudden, when Logan is coming to dinner, Lorelei is interested in attending. I think Emily sensed Lorelei's true "motives" and knew she wasn't going to dinner to be in with the family, she just wanted to check Logan out, which I guess is her right, since she is Rory's mom, but I just don't think Emily liked it.

And about Logan stealing the sewing box, he said that was some sort of tradition in the life and death brigade, take something from a rich persons house and replace it with the last thing they stole from someone's house. Honestly, I think Richard and Emily would have thought that was hysterical, if they knew the meaning behind the switch. They just seem like the type to be into traditions like that. I do think that is was wrong though and he shouldn't have done it to his girlfriends family.

Veronica, I remembered one other thing that happened this week. Lorelai found out that the article about the Dragonfly Inn was not pulled as she requested and it is supposed to hit the stands in next week's show so she was agitated about the stuff she said about her mother.

What wedding did Lorelai get so ticked at her mom at? Was that the vow renewal ceremony for Richard and Emily? Why did Lorelai get so mad?

It was the vow renewal ceremony where Emily invited Christopher and he said that he and Lorelai were meant for each other in front of Luke!!! It was found out that Emily planted that little hint in his ear.

Oooh, thanks for sharing! I'm sure that's gonna raise heck in Emily's world. Yet another reason for those two to fight :rotfl:

Yea, this week was kind of blah. It was ok I guess, although I am still getting the feeling Logan will split before too long. Guess we'll just have to wait and see!

:teeth: I'm here...but only for today! This is my last DIS day until after the baby...I don't have a computer at home, but I'm working on it! Anyway, here's my thoughts:

The whole Emily/Lorelai thing irritated me too...I can only think Lorelai took it so as not to cause a scene in front of Logan? But why she was worried about it, I have no idea. Emily is a bag these days. That whole sidecar thing po'd me!

Yeah, Rory is WAY too needy with Logan. And I HATE the way she can be upset with him, but as soon as she sees him everything's hunky dory with the world. Of course, when you're 20, that's about the size of it, i guess. I've been there, but at the ripe old age I am now, I hate seeing it! I am wondering how this whole thing with his dad is going to play out. Previews for next week don't look promising.

I think Lorelai is being influenced by her father's approval. She's never had it, and now that he's giving it to her, she kind of dazzled by it and wants it to keep coming. I think she thinks that by being a globe-trotting business woman, she will have finally done something right in his eyes. I think she has always wanted a better relationship with him; she seems to need him and his approval in a way she doesn't want it from her mom. I've always kinda thought this. And yeah, they're trying to tie it in with the whole Dean/Luke "we're blue collar and therefore not good enough for the Gilmores" thing.

I feel sorry for Luke...and I wonder if Lorelai is really pregnant, or if it's just a scare. I have a feeling it's going to be just a scare, but before they find out for sure she'll tell Luke, he'll be thrilled, she'll realize she's not so thrilled, and it'll cause all kinds of rifts in their relationship.

Whew! Long post!!! I think I'll take a breath now...but not before I end my post in my traditional:

Still don't like Logan! :teeth:

I'm due Monday. I have to admit, I am looking forward to being off the majority of the summer AND not being pregnant! If I can just make it through this last day of work, I'm good. Although I'm sure it won't be an issue immediately after the baby is born (I think I'll be a bit busy!! :teeth: ), I am worried about DIS withdrawl...working on making my SO get a 'puter and an internet hookup. :teeth:

Did I miss something? Lorelai pregnant? I thought I had been pretty good about watching every episode, dh even watches with me. I kinda like Logan, but I think this is one of those, Rory has to learn her lesson, lessons. As far as her mother, what a *****! Even if they are fighting, it was uncalled for, especially in front of Logan (regardless of what everyone thinks about him.) And the whole Cape cod thing! Please!

Thanks for your take on it, Mal. I do feel for Luke--I know that I have a teenager and really, the last thing I want is a new baby. That's just starting from scratch and although I love being a mom, I think it would be really hard to do it all over again.

DD didn't watch it this week and so I've been dying for someone to discuss it with. I did like the beginning of this episode with the two of them watching the Roomba while on the cell phones. DD and I DO watch tv shows "together" like that so it really cracked me up.

I'm not sure why I like Logan but I do. What really ticked me off about stealing the sewing kit was that he was going to let the maid take the rap. That showed a real lack of character in my book.

"Did I miss something? Lorelai pregnant? "

They elude to this in the trailer for next week's episode.

Now I think I have found my new home! I LOVE Gilmore Girls! I am so happy I now have other people to share my love with. I wish I could move to Star's Hollow or at least spend a night at the Dragonfly Inn!
