The Official Gilmore Girls Thread

I heard that there aren't any plans as of now to have the actor who plays Christopher on this season...but we all know things can change.

As far as taking time off to "re-evaluate"...Rory seems (IMHO) to have some serious self-esteem issues if she lets one guy make her feel so much like crap that she quits school. I think Logan and his family have way too much power over her...and now she's giving that power to Em and Rich too. She's losing herself...all the things that made her who she is are going away...and she needs to get that back. I'm hoping that's the arc the writers are going towards.

She STOLE A YACHT. 300 hours of community service for a MAJOR felony isn't even a slap on the wrist.

:rotfl: :rotfl2: THAT's WHAT I THOUGHT!!!! I know I live in the city and this is (as DH says) "just a TV Show", but but you get 300 hours for violating crewfew too many times, I have kids (that I teach at school) who get that for "silly" misdemenor things.

Just bumping up for tonight's ep. Do you believe I haven't watched last week's yet?? It'll be a double feature for me tonight!

Augh....... is anyone else just not liking this show?...I just can't stand the TJ and Liz line and Paris...I always felt she was so annoying ...and L and L....she shows no emotion what so ever....he at least shows that he cares for her...she does absolutely nothing to show that she cares the least bit for him. Rory....I just can't see a girl who lived and breathed going to college just give it up that quick...and tonight I think she may have realized that when she was at the freshman orientation.

Off my soap box now...anyone care to respond?

I think Paris is lost without Rory. I personally like her because I love how that girl can deliver a line :rotfl:
I think Rory is starting to reallize what she has given up but I have never really understood why she gave it all up so quickly too. I like the drama but it does seem forced for Rory.
Right now I feel like the show is kind of floundering without the banter that is Rory and Lorelei. I am really missing that.

I was happy when Lor told Luke at the end that she didn't want to set a date until things are good with her and Rory. At least it isn't because she is having second thoughts, or cold feet. I was glad to hear her voice that. I love how Luke doesn't push her. He is so sweet.
Too much TJ.
Too much Paris.
Glad to see Lane back!
Rory should be a young adult having fun, not in an old lady club!!

Did anyone else notice... When Rory answered the phone and her Grandma came in, she put the woman on Hold, actually all she did was hang up the phone, she talked with Grandma, then answered her cell phone, and talked to Paris and NEVER picked up the woman on hold again??? :rotfl2:

andddddddddddd when Paris and Lor. were talking about Rory, Paris said she called Rory at work... Umm, you called a cell phone, how do you know Rory was at work ???? :confused3

Ya, I noticed the hold thing too, it really bugged me. I kept going to myself-'there is a lady on hold!, pick up the phone!"

Whew...I'm glad I wasn't the only one bugged by the hold thing...how rude!

I just want to smack Rory...and what's more, I think Logan is going to tire of this new, "lazy" Rory pretty quickly. I think he's just hanging around now because he feels like it's his fault.

Why didn't Logan get in trouble for the yacht thing? Did I miss that explanation last season?

I think Lorelai does really love Luke...but I think that Rory has been her whole life until now and she's lost.

If Jess is coming back for one ep only, I hope it's to tell Rory what an *** she's being and to grow the heck up. I can see him totally doing this.

Plus, one more thing is bugging me: 300 hours of community service over 6 months = 50 hours a month = 12-13 hours a week. That is nothing. Why is she acting like she is SOOOOOO busy she can't take a normal job or do anything else??

The Lane/band scenes seemed forced to me.

Ok, I've been wondering about why Logan didn't get in trouble either. No, he's jetting off to Europe but Rory gets community service? He's been in trouble before--seems like he might have gotten even worse than Rory did. Are his dad's attorneys just that good?

I missed last week's episode--why is Lorelai remodeling her house and where the heck did Paul Anka come from? I remember an older episode where Rory & Lorelai are talking about the fact that they were unable to have a pet because of the hamster problem they had before--something about Lorelai getting annoyed with it and stuffing more and more TP in the cage till they couldn't see the hamster anymore. I think his name was Skippy. :teeth:

Last week they brought up the hamster several times :teeth: ...they were having another pet fair and Lorelai fell in love with "Paul Anka". Miss Patty tried to get the shelter worker not to let Lorelai have the puppy by telling the hamster story...and then apparently there was a bunny and a turtle too we hadn't heard about...:rotfl:

But she took the dog anyway, and seems to be doing fine with it.

She's remodeling because Luke realized that she didn't want to move...so he took it upon himself (in a REALLY sweet scene) to expand her place a little bit so they could live there.

If you missed last week, you missed his tirade to her about Rory too...that was excellent.

I was also wondering why Logan didn't get in trouble-that makes no sense at all....

Anyone know??

I was also wondering why she is doing so much of her community service at once. Maybe subconsciously trying to get it all done before school starts..... in case she goes back to Yale

I don't know WHAT my mom was thinking to come for a visit on a Tuesday. The only night I watch tv and I was entertaining her instead. Good thing I like her (and she brought me presents.) :teeth:

You need a TIVO! They are GREAT! (Considering ALL (well, all but one) of the shows we watch are on Tuesday nights...I think we end up recording at least 5 shows between 8 and 10 on Tuesdays).

Luke was REALLY mad at Lorelai and went off on her...he was on the roof yelling down to her on the ground about Rory. The scene lasted 5 minutes and you could tell he was totally po'd at her. Then at the end, she yelled up, "Luke?" and he replied, "We're fine." and they both smiled. It was cute.

I too thought the band scene was a little forced. I LOVE Paul anka and all of his do not do things!! its great. and Luke was so sweet to take the dog to the vet after the chocolate his statement about doing a million things to lose her but not the dog!! He is so GR8!!! I also agree that Logan is getting tired of the lazy Rory thing too. as for the DAR, I think Rory skipped the 20's and 30's and went right into retirement!!!!! I still think Paris was FUNNY!!!!-- and what did happen to the lady on hold?? :confused3

Do you think TJ will be back at the job site even though he quit and now thinks hes a master craftsman?? --oh and I Loved the magical hammer thing-- to get him off the job site-- classic!!!

I can see why Rory is going through this stage. She is burnt out. She has been in an elite prep school and now Yale for 5 years. And being a perfectionist, she is probably beyond burned out and needs a break. I can understand that.

I don't think Logan is getting tired of the lazy Rory, I think he still feels responsible for her leaving Yale and he doesn't know how to approach it. I think he wants her to come back because he knows in the end that will make her the happiest. I bet she goes back for the Spring term.

Rory is becoming an Emily clone and Emily is loving it. I only think it is because Rory is so lost right now. It will be hilarious to watch when Rory finally comes to her senses and starts rebelling against Emily (just as Lorelai did). I think then Emily might finally begin to understand what went wrong with her relationship with Lorelai.

I agree about too much Liz/TJ. They are humorous for a scene everynow and then, not for the whole show. And where have Kirk and Taylor been? And Mrs. Kim. Now they are funny when used in moderation. I also am a little tired of the whole band/Lane thing. I too feel it is forced. Hopefully they come up with something fresh for that story, because I don't really like Zach.

Next week looks like a good episode!

I guess I just find it hard to understand the need for a "break". I too went to college straight out of school, and I made it through all four years without feeling like I needed "time off". Plus, she said something interesting to Logan when they were talking: "Yale WAS an important period of my life...but I'm confortable with where I am now." The way she was talking, it didn't sound like she had any intention of going back to Yale ever.

Plus, even though she may be taking a "break", why couldn't she move in with Paris? It is an off-campus apartment...she doesn't need to be attending school to live there.

And one more thing...I cannot believe Em and Rich had no problem with Logan lying naked on the sofa with Rory...especially with what happened to Lorelai. I can't believe they haven't laid down any ground rules about that. Of course, maybe they're hoping she will get pregnant and then have to marry the illustrious Huntsburger.

Can you tell I am really not liking Rory this season? :teeth: Actually, I wasn't all to thrilled with her last season either.
