I'm so broken up about Alan I don't think I'm going to be able to watch and I've been watching since the start.

I don't know HOW it is they are doing this. Poor man. I can't imagine what it must be like to be thrown off..after some 30 years. Reminds me of how they let Tony Jones fade into oblivion...and they killed him also. Wasted talent. It seems as usual..they are looking to get rid of long time soap anchors...that they probably pay much more for and replace them with teeny boppers. The fuuny part of that is that you couldn't pay a teenager to watch this show..not with all the cable shows there are for them to choose from. This is just too tame. Seems to me they alienate the very people who watch this show...from the beginning and replace them with mindless twits. Not all but most. I thought they were getting away from the Sonny and Jason show..but looks as if it's going back that way again. Poor Allan kicked to the curb.

Hey, we finally all know there was no baby. Way to Maxie, you told the truth. Of course with a little encouragement from Liz, but what can you do? Not sure I'm going to like this whole 24 thing. Sounds strange.

OMG! The spoilers that just came out lead me to believe that it will be a fantastic February! Read on:cool1:

He's back!
(Kin Shriner shown in an eppy to air the week of Jan. 29th)

The Jan 26th episode kicks off with a hostage crisis at

operate under conditions they've never dealt with before."
Will she survive??? Count on it. Guza is planning a
revolutionary story in which the HIV positive Robin and
her beau, Patrick, will try to have a baby. (source: TV Guide)

Jason suspects Sam is keeping something from him.

For some weird reason I can't see any of your spoilers....

OMG That is so cool!!!!!!! I NEVER knew that! Amatuer move, right!

OMG That is so cool!!!!!!! I NEVER knew that! Amatuer move, right!

It's ok. :) It's just in case some don't want to read spoilers although I think most here do.

There should be alot more details coming out in the next week or two.

I don't know if I posted this and I am to lazy to go back and check. These are from various people on different sites. Most have proven to be pretty reliable.

From what I am gathering one day shows the explosion which is actually at the END of the hostage situation at the Metro Court. Then we go back 16 days and they show us what happens leading up to the explosion with the hostages. This is the last few days of Jan and first half of Feb. Then it is the aftermath at MC and GH the last half of Feb.

Mark your calendars
February 1 - Liz finally tells Lucky the truth and he walks out on their date

TV guide for next week and it has a pictures of Scrubs in the Soap section.
I don't have a scanner. I am sure someone can scan it soon.

KA-BOOM!
An explosion rocks PC this week on GH, when a secret exchange between Alcazar and Mr. Craig hits a major snag.

It all begins when Jason finds evidence that Sonny has been targeted by a sniper. He goes to Alcazar and demands to know who he is working with. "Alcazar is very coy," previews Ted King. "He doesn't tell Jason. He doesn't tell Sonny. He doesn't tell Ric, even though they all come to his hospital room while he's recovering from this bullet wound to the head. He tells them to mind their own business and stay out of the way [of the shipment arriving] or they'll all be killed."

Alcazar makes headway with Jason, "because Sonny shuts down all his operations," continues TK. "As does Alcazar. That piques Ric's interest as the D.A. He knows something is up. He wants to know why all of a sudden there's peace, particularly after Sonny shot Alcazar in the head. Alcazar simply tells him, 'Maybe we've declared a truce.' "

Finally Alcazar learns the shipment is on its way to PC. "A briefcase is being delivered to Metro Court, and Alcazar has to receive it personally," explains TK. "That forces him to get up out of his hospital bed, despite his trauma. There's no choice. Too much money is at stake. There are *lives* at stake."

Alcazar struggles to make it to Metro Court, where he receives a briefcase containing a microchip from his contact, which he puts in the hotel vault for safekeeping. "Then, he meets Mr. Craig, who finds out the shipment was delivered early and wants it," outlines TK. "Alcazar says he's not getting it until the exact moment they agreed upon."

In the interim, Alcazar retrieves the briefcase from the vault and punches in a secret six digit code. "The code has to be re-entered every 24 hours or the briefcase and its contents will self-destruct," warns TK. "It's something out of James Bond, or Mission Impossible."

Indeed. In the opening seconds of the Jan. 26 episode, an explosion rips through the hotel. But to find out what happened, you'll have to really pay attention - because time in Port Charles will be turned back 16 hours.

part 2

GH Turns Back Time

It's a daytime first when GH sets off a riveting explosion and then sets the clock back 16 hours to explain what led up to the blast.

"We play the end of the movie first," sets up JFP. "What you see in real time is what happened the first hour, the second hour...We're going to play out the day leading up to the explosion."

The story is "absolutely the brainchild" of HW Guza, borne out of last year's Luke and Laura reunion. "When we did that, we were building to a conclusion that the audience could totally anticipate," notes JFP. "We didn't try to trick anybody that Genie Francis was staying longer, and we had a clock ticking. I said to Bob, 'What can we do that will give us the same kind of momentum in another story?' A week later, he came up with this."

JFP promises it will be a Feb Sweeps to remember. "We try and be as hip as time and money can possibly allow us to be," she says. "To try and keep something really vibrant as we build toward an ending that the audience has already seen is a challenge."

Which means viewers can expect a lot of "big moments" in the hours leading up to the explosion. "Obviously there is a clock ticking and the stakes have been built up," says JFP. "People discover things and have to make decisions about their lives."

And those lives are at risk. "There's a madman on the loose," warns JFP. "Sam makes a daring escape. Robin's life is in jeapordy. The Quartermaines will be deeply affected as they face a terrible fear."

And, ultimately, a tragedy. As previously reported, Stuart Damon's Alan will die, although he will *not* be blown to smithereens.

Tick, tock......

Story sounds really great..but it bothers me that they are using it to get rid of Allan. I hate that.:sad2:

This Metro Court explosion reminds me of the PC Hotel fire. That's when Scotty Baldwin took his bow from the show. Now another similar situation brings him back? :confused3

I like Mr. Craig. I love his accent and his boyish looks. Underneath it all he's a snake in the grass. He could possibly be one of the best new characters since Spinelli, heck he IS the newest character. :rotfl: Too bad he's probably only temporary.

Anyone know when Jax returns? Isn't he supposed to be bringing back a woman for Sonny?

I'm also upset that they'll be letting Stuart Damon go, but since this is a soap, I'll be crossing my fingers he won't really be dead and will return again one day;)

I'm not happy that Stuart Damon has been let go either, but that's the nature of the beast with soap operas.

A good way to look at it is that on a soap, they're never really "dead."

What kills me is the way in which they get rid of these long time characters. They way they got rid of Tony Jones...they actually HAD A STORY FOR HIM...imagine that..after all those years of his being back burner. To get rid of him...they had a storyline where he knows about Lucus(remember him?) being gay...and while he's sick in the hospital they showed flash backs of Tony and Bobby. He was such an asset and great character. He was great in his last scenes saying goodbye to Luke. It made you wonder WHY ARE THEY THOWING THIS GUY AWAY? It just went to show you how good he really was...especially with the entire BJ's heart story. I have no doubt the Allan's exit will be the same. Which honestly only makes it worse for us long time viewers who came to know Allan when he tried to kill Rick Webber and Monica back some 26 years ago. They back burner the guy..and Monica for that matter also...now they will "kill" him off...I'd say Monica is probably next. I mean what is there for her really?...Every once in a while she pops up as Jason's mom(which she really isn't)..or Emily's mom..(which she really isn't).
Tracy is safe as long as she has some type of interaction with Luke..who isn't on that often..so who knows..her clock is probably ticking also. I know I probably sound like an old lady who hates to see the original characters to show being written off..but it saddens me to think of this is how people are really treated in our society. Once they get older....it's put them in a home. We don't value our elders the way we should. It shows here..as dumb as that sounds. These characters are no where nearly "elderly"...but they are passed that point of having babies..so no "whose the daddy" storylines for them. So if you aren't a coffee gangster..what's left for you? I think I'll watch just so I can see the day when Jason in his leather jacket and still Sonny's cronie will get his AARP card in the mail! Hey..can you tell I will turn 50 this year?...

I wonder if one of the reasons they get rid of the "old timers" ala Tony and Alan is because most "us old timers" aren't watching the show anymore, it's a whole new generation of GH watchers who don't know the back history, and really don't care about it either. :confused3 So they move them on and bring characters like Maxie, LuLu and Dillon to the forefront, while burning us out on the Jason/Sonny/Sam show.

I guess that when they do those focus polls (which is what really counts) Sonny and the mob are what people really want to see.

I was all for incorporating vets for awhile. Got excited when they brought someone back. Now I see what they do to them and I would rather they just stayed away.

Financially, the vets make a lot of money and the daytime budget gets less and less. Probably makes sense to get rid of the vets from that perspective.

I'm sure it's that the older originals are a financial liability. They can pay these kids so much less. I'm not sure I'd agree that people want to see them though. Only because I have a 19 year old daughter..and she thinks they are lame. Kids watch cable shows that offer them more what they are looking for than the soaps. I wonder if they are alienating the very people who watch them..and then the slip in the ratings. I know this is what they are talking about on the AMC thread. Cutting the shows to half hours and the like. I think there is a lack of interest..and they drag the stories out just to center around a main event for sweeps. All the while making the daily watching unnecessary. I mean Maxie..Dillon...Georgie...I don't mind their storylines..just I don't see them as something I'd say.."I have to watch GH today". Sometimes I feel as if it's an hour long Clearasil commercial. Enough. I've been a fan of Carly since the beggining and enjoy the charcter very much..only now I'm tired of seeing the SAME story over and over. They need to develop these characters, and have them move into different stages of their lives. I think Jason is starting to look a little old for the whole bad boy thing..I mean that jacket...Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall....TAKE OFF THE JACKET! I guess I'm in the minority, but I do feel they could use these "older" characters to appeal to a viewing audience that really would be interested in their lives. I know I would..I'm 49..and have watched GH for 26 years..so I've pretty much grown up with it. I watched when Allan and Monica were young..and Luke and Laura were on the run. I'd like to see them face some of the life experiences that us commoners face. Ocasionally you see that..as in the case of Monica with the breast cancer..but far and few between. You don't see them on a daily or even a weekly basis for that matter. It's like I've said before..if characters are passed an age where the writers can't use the "who's the daddy" story..then they are out on recurring status. It's as if an accidental pregnancy is the only significant thing that can happen in ones life. My feeling is that they keep trying to appeal to a younger and younger audience..and from what I know of the teens that have been in my home..there is NO interest in GH...too many other options. Yet they alienate people like me..who have watched the show and would continue to do so and would appreciate more of a variety of storylines.

I agree with you there..as far as bringing back old characters like Scorpio and the like...I was excited to see his return. Until it turned out to be nothing. No story....a big let down. I did enjoy the return of Genie Francis..but honestly it also made me see how good GH had once been and knowing she was there only temporarilly...was a dissapointment. If they can't come back and actually have a storyline they should stay away. Not bring them back again for a "sweeps" ...for ratings. I feel it's a dissapointment to those of us who watched them "way back when"..to just parade them around for a couple of weeks.
