Natalia Livingston and Rebecca Herbst had 2 PA's this weekend. Apparently they said that Steve has not cut his hair, but he does have a new hairSTYLE. Hopefully it's better than the greased back look. Something more like the picture above I hope!

Recap of a recent panel discussion that Claire Labine attended.
"Claire Labine simply outclassed the others on the panel, and of course the other writers deferred to her. She recalled a time when networks didn't interfere with the storytelling and were simply a means of delivering the content to the audience. Despite her pleading over the years, the networks began to interfere more with the day-to-day aspects, expecting longer projections for storylines (9 months). She said, back in the day, they'd write outlines for about 3 months of story, but, when they watched a show and saw how certain actors interacted, they'd see stories developing that they hadn't previously thought of. And they had the freedom to shift midstream and do rewrites. That freedom is limited today, as the approval process has become cumbersome.
Claire also said that audiences don't watch a show for cliffhangers and what-not, but because they wish they could live in the same town as these characters. There's an emotional truth that each soap has to convey to its audience, and that is what will keep them coming back day-to-day. She also says that soaps were better when they were only a half-hour.
She said soaps were better when they had smaller writing teams because everyone was on the same page. The writers all knew the characters well, and moreso, the writers all knew each other well. They had a united vision. In the '80s, the Writers' Guild created the "breakdown writer" position simply to create more jobs for writers. As the decade charged on, the writing teams became more and more bloated, and vision and continuity both suffered for it. Kreizman jumped in and said that economics will force writing teams to become small again and that daytime will be all the better for it.
The one "tense" moment happened when one audience member called out David Kreizman for hiring back vets like Matt and Vanessa and then penning stories for them that were "jerky and disjointed." Kreizman seemed slightly taken aback and defensive, claiming that budgetary reasons keep him from writing for some of the longer-term cast members. He said the first thing they do each week is determine how much they can use certain actors.

alright so the event started at 10am. there was a complimentary breakfast, but i'll cut right to the chase.
the girls arrived at about 11:30am. they went right to the stage at the front of the room and after saying hello they got right to the questions. Natalia has a cold, so she sounded very stuffy and congested so she tried to have Becky do most the talking, plus the girls had to share one microphone instead of having two.
the first question was for rebecca, the woman asked her what it was like doing the kidnapping storyline. Rebecca said it was really hard because usually she puts herself in the position of Liz during her storylines, and she said she couldnt even imagine what she would do if either of her children were kidnapped so it was really difficult.
the next question was about stuart damon's release and what the girls input was on it. they both admitted to being upset and shocked and were blown away from the letters and things they got at GH about it. Natalia said she was glad that he was staying around for a little longer so they still seen each other, and that she hoped emily got some more time around the quartermaine mansion.
someone asked how far ahead they tape the episodes from the present time and Rebecca said that its supposed to be 2 and a half weeks pretaped but they always seem to be running a little behind.
they talked about Night Shift, briefly. Rebecca said that when they started, they were both told that their characters would have different storylines and it wouldnt be anything like GH and when she read the script she was in the same exact story as she had on GH. She said its basically General Hospital but a bit more racier (i think i spelled that right lol)
Rebecca was asked the obvious question: liz&lucky or liz&jason, and she replied that she liked how it was now because she was getting to work with both men and she couldnt chose between the two.
Someone asked which of their costars would they like to get to work with more. Rebecca said she wanted to work more with Laura Wright because she loves when they have fight scenes, and Natalia said she wanted to work more with Bradford Anderson because she loves his character and thinks hes so funny.
rebecca was asked what it was like working with the kids. and she said that cameron is actually her friends son, so he works really well with her and it makes things a lot easier. and the twins who play jake (jake is not greg's son, Jathan, like i had thought) are only allowed on set 2 hours every day, and they can only do scenes for 10 minutes at a time and then they need to be pulled.

rebecca said that 2 days ago she was doing a scene with baby jake in a stroller, and she talked about how hard it was to get it done in 10 minutes. but i thought about it, and if the show is 2 weeks pretaped, and she did a scene with the baby in a stroller, than jake should be found within two weeks =]
someone asked if Rebecca would like her kids to act, and she replied that she wouldn't be opposed to it, but she wouldnt encourage or pressure them into it. And she said that Ella doesnt really understand much but Ethan is at an age now where he keeps asking her why he can't play Cameron (aww) and she said that one day Liz's Cameron might catch up to Ethan's age and that may be a possibility but right now she wants them to just have a normal childhood and not a childhood in a studio.
My friend Lauren then asked the question about their squirrel encounter, and they both got a laugh out of that. They forgot they had even mentioned the story to the media so they were suprised we knew about it. Natalia basically just recapped what had happened. she said they were walking through gardens just wandering and all of a sudden the garden turned into these scary woods and there was this one squirrel they found that had an 'evil human personality' and it started going after them and they were running through the scary woods screaming.
there werent many questions being asked at the beginning, maybe because we were still getting used to them being there or it was just too early (lol) but Rebecca suggested they do the signings and pictures and come back to the Q&A session so that everyone had some time to themselves to think of questions to ask.
My table was the first to be called, I had Rebecca and Natalia sign a picture of the two of them (picture). Natalia took the picture first and looked at it with a laugh showing it to rebecca, she said 'do you remember this?!' and rebecca said 'oh yeah that was at your birthday party!' and NAtalia just laughed and said 'ohh thats right, it was my 30th birthday party' and then she just stared at it for a moment with this confused look and turned to me and said 'this was at my birthday party, right?' and i couldnt help but laugh and i just said yes that was your 30th. hehe. Then i asked Natalia to sign a picture of me and her from her last visit to NY ( picture ) and again she took the picture and just looked at it for a moment, then made this face and rebecca laughed at her and said 'whats wrong?' and Natty replied 'look at my eyebrows! they look so thick! i dont know what i was thinking there!' and me and rebecca gave her the same exact confused look and rebecca was just like 'your so nuts, you look fine!' and i agreed and we just laughed and they finished signing for me.
After i got pictures with them i spotted Rebecca's husband Michael (ex-Juan) in the corner in the back, so me and my friend Lauren went up and got pictures with him as well. He's such a sweet guy! Then....my camera died (IMG:style_emoticons/default/Sad.cry.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/Sad.boohoo.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/Sad.cry.gif) . So i dont have any pictures of Natalia from the Q&A session, except the ones i took on my little throw away (IMG:style_emoticons/default/Fun.tongue.gif)
Anyway, so they finished signing, and took a 5 minute break while we did the 50/50 and the raffles. Then they returned to finish up the Q&A.
The first question asked when they returned was from me, and i asked about Natalia's contract status.
in respect to the Goddess's requests, I won't recap what Natalia said about her contract until I have permission to do so from them.
Someone then asked what they liked to do in their spare time, Rebecca said she doenst really have time to do much because she has kids. And Natalia said she just took a 5 week cooking class because she claims to be the worst cook ever, and Rebecca said that she never cooks; Michael does all the cooking in their house because she's so bad at it. Natalia said she is obsessed with the show COPS. which i thought was really funny because she doesnt really look like the type to be into that show. She said that she wants to be like the host from America's Most Wanted who always rides shotgun in the police cars, and she watches it every time its on TV and she knows what the police say almost word for word..and then went on to repeat what the cops say in a deep voice " 'do you have any needles in your posession?' and then they pat you down" So yeah, she loves the show COPS. lol
this is a good one! lol .. someone then asked which got the best results in regards to mail to the writers...quantity or content. Rebecca and NAtalia both replied QUANTITY. they said that the interns sort their mail for them, so they dont get to read every letter they receive, but each letter is counted for and logged based on their subject. (so keep sending letters for our couple!!! lol) and Natalia said also that if you call the hotline, you'll get the best results because there are people on the hotline that have to sit and write down and record every comment made through there, and those are then given to the writers.
Someone said that they had read on a GH website that in an upcoming storyline, Emily was going to need to search to find her biological stepfather. someone suggested Noah be emily's real father but Natalia thought no because he's too goodlooking it'd be weird to think your father was really goodlooking lol .. Natalia had never heard of that but got very excited at the tought of that story. She said she would love to do that and it would be a great story to put out there especially now...
They were asked if either of them had watched GH before they went on the show. Rebecca said that she wasn't allowed to watch soaps when she was younger, and that they weren't allowed on in her house. And Natalia said she never watched GH but she admitted to having watched Guiding Light, and how she used to have a huge crush on RICK HEARST when he was on the show while she was in high school.
Another woman said that she had met tyler a few months ago and he had told everyone how he felt bad for Natalia because her dressing room was on 'Ax Row' .. and Natalia again had no clue what the woman was talking about, she had never heard of that and got all freaked out, but Rebecca started hysterical laughing and Natalia looked even more confused. Then Becky felt bad that she had to tell Natalia the story of her dressing room, but she did. And she said that the dressing room that Natalia was in was in the hallway that they all named 'Ax Row' because everyone who had that dressing room got released ... and then Michael stood up from the corner in the back of the room laughing and said 'Yeah, i was in that dressing room!' and everyone started laughing. Then of course we all reassured Natalia she wasn't cursed based on her dressing room location! lol
Someone asked why they put the story of Dr. Quartermaine and Dr. Ford's fight for chief of staff on the backburner, and neither woman had any idea what she was talking about! They both looked extremely confused and said they never even heard of the character of Dr. Ford! (which is funny because they both did scenes with the poor guy! lol) that was another laugh and then i asked my question..
i asked what was going to happen with emily and nikolas, and how i was a little dissapointed because they just put them to the side and they havent really been on in a while. Natalia was sure to put emphasis on how much she loved the Nikolas and Emily pairing, saying that they 'have always had a great response and everyone seems to love them, including herself'. she said that she hopes they are going to explore more with the couple, and that she hopes there is a remarriage, and shes really hoping that Emily gets to have a baby because she's looking forward to doing that sort of storyline. Rebecca then got the idea that they should make Emily have a baby, and the baby have some sort of complications causing Emily to have to find her biological father. lol, i think Becky has better writing ideas than whats going on now!
Then they talked briefly about the hostage crisis storyline, after many compliments for both women. They both agreed it was very hard because it was three weeks long and they wanted intense drama from day one to the end. Natalia said that she had gotten a call the 3 day of someone saying that she was a bad actress and wasnt doing a good job at all with this storyline, and when she told Rebecca, Rebecca said she also got a phone call saying the same thing! Then Natalia just laughed and said that the next day of shooting her and Rebecca walked in all agressive and were putting everything into it and crying when they didnt have to, and that next day was the day they shot the scene of Emily fighting Craig. lol
Then someone began to ask another question, but Michael had to interrupt because their plane was at 4 and it was 2:30. So they said their goodbyes and they had to get out of there pretty quickly. and ... yep, thats it. Then i had my 4 hour car ride home and called it a day.

I can't believe Lucky/Liz were so touchy feeling while their son is missing and
he was such an a** to her. Why didn't Jason just tell Sam to get out? She
is so like Alexis being self righteous. I just want Liz/Jason to find the kid and

Wow he really looks his age here. According to IMDB he'll be 37 this week (the 28th). It is funny how the show still has him playing early 30's.
