The Official Free Dining Watch 2007 Thread

We personally love the buses. Saves us money and during low crowds, you always can find a seat.

My main concern about the bus system is I am going with my mother and she needs to use an electric scooter... This is our first trip since 1978 (might as well be the first trip) I have read different posts on how its easy to use them on the bus and I have read other posts that make me worry that we may end up waiting extra long if a bus comes that doesn't have a lift or already has full capacity of wc/ecv. We do plan on using the bus even though we are driving down, because she is afraid we won't be able to put the scooter in the car by ourselves. I was thinking of using the bus to the parks but if we come back to the room before dinner, to drive to the restaurant. This mainly applys to our second nite when we are spliting between AK/MGM and both close early, we have reservations later for MayaGrill.

What is the kiss goodnight? Mentioned in post 893?

Instead of spending time trying to explain it all, I found a video of it on YouTube. It takes place at the Magic Kingdom nearly every night and it can vary anytime between half an hour after closing to a couple of hours after closing. And before anyone asks, it has NOTHING to do with the Wishes song that plays after Wishes is over. ;)
When we saw it this past September, DH and I were two of only four guests left in the entire park (aside from CMs closing up). It was awesome!
Kiss Goodnight

The Kiss goodnight thing....does this happen every night at closing? How did you hear about it? I wonder how long it takes to empty the park at closing.

It happens almost every night. There are some nights they skip it. Here's a link to Steve Soares website...he lists the schedule for things at the different parks. Bear in mind that the schedule is done only a week at a time so if you're looking for anything for the future, it's not going to be there. Anyway, go to the link and then at the top of the site, click on "Magic Kingdom". At the bottom of the MK page under "Parades & Fireworks", the schedule for the Kiss Goodnight will be listed.

I have also received pin code emails from this email address:
vacation@registration.disneyworld.com

Are you guys planning on emailing this address and asking to be added to the list? Or what are you going to do with this?

I want to be on the list for sure, but I wasn't sure what to do?

No..don't e-mail that address..you won't get a response. People just wanted the address so they could add it to their "allowed e-mail" list. A lot of online mail services (likes hotmail and yahoo) allow you put in an "allow e-mail" address so it doesn't bounce to trash or spam..that's why people wanted to know what address e-mails were coming from.

If you want to get on the list..the best way is to sign up at the Disney website. Sometimes requesting the free planning video will help get you on the list too.

nothing on the chase disney visa site... nothing on the disney travel agents site... nothing nothing nothing! :(

Most times when you are getting on a bus, everyone else is getting off. They will then load the ecv's first. Two per bus. I take my handicapped aunt and uncle, both in ecv's, every year, and have never had a problem...sometimes you may have to wait if there are already other ecv's in line ahead of you, but another bus comes along in 15-20 minutes. There is a disability board here as well if you want to check it out.
Good Luck

Hmmm, the kiss goodnight is neat....but how do you stay in the park an hour and a half past closing? Don't they kick you out? What do you do for that time? I'll have to check the website updates and see when we're there what night it'll be on, if it's not too late we may stay and see it. Wonder if they do a kiss good morning? LOL

We've been coming to WDW with a DD using a wheelchair for a long time. We've stayed on site and used the bus system since CBR opened (I think in 1989).
Almost 100% of the buses are equipped with either a lift or a ramp. There is room for either 2 ECVs or 2 wheelchairs per bus and I can count on one hand how many times all the spots were already full when we wanted to get on the bus.
If you follow the link in my signature to the disABILITIES Board, you will find more information about buses and how they work in the disABILITIES FAQs thread near the top of the board.

Kiss Goodnight

I have tried to convince DH and DDs to stay and watch this. So far they haven't done it. DH seems to want to rush to the bus as soon as we view Wishes. One trip I will just stay and watch the Kiss Goodnight without him!
Thanks for posting the video. I got my Disney fix for today. Yes, I teared up too. It is just so beautiful and so magical! I want to go now! I could live at Disney and never grow tired of it.

Ok - my friend works at an ad agency for a major airline and they are putting together their flyer for free dining. She forwarded me the print and the dates are Aug 26 - Sep 22 with bookings by June 24th. She's not gotten clarification on when the booking window opens - she says either April 12th or 15th.

It really sounds like August 26th is the start date. All signs are pointing to it!
Wish it was a few weeks sooner.
Oh well, thanks for the info Bride!
