The *Official* February 2011 Thread - Happy Dance Time...The Park Hours Are Out!

We will be there Feb 5th to Feb 14th, staying at Caribbean Beach. This is our second trip to Disney but first time staying there so I'm looking forward to comparing the two experiences! We are doing the dining plan and I have been lucky enough to get reservations everywhere we wanted, just working on packing and planning now!

I wish the weather wasn't so iffy. I hate waiting 'til right before we leave to know what it will be like. I know everyplace has iffy weather but this is a little crazy.........It could be 50s or it could be 80s during the day....... that's a huge range.

so I just looked at the weather history for week (starting 2/24)

2006
Highs: 69/69/75/78/82/81/72
Lows: 54/48/48/51/54/64/55

2007
Highs: 72/66/72/77/78/80/81
Lows: 54/48/46/54/57/57/60

2008
Highs: 77/78/86/66/59/70/75
Lows: 62/64/62/46/39/46/53

2009
Highs: 70/60/61/68/72/77/78
Lows: 46/41/42/42/46/51/52

2010
Highs: 64/70/72/59/57/62/64
Lows: 41/46/48/45/41/41/42

Crazy weather. How can it be 86 one day and 66 the next?? (2008)
I guess I can deal with all of those temps, although last year was a little cooler than I like. I hope we don't have a repeat of that weather.

When you live in a sub-tropical climate like Florida (or here), it can be 86 at one point and 66 maybe an hour later. Maybe 20 minutes. It's a very ping-pongy time of year as far as weather is concerned. The horrid heat always wants to sneak back in, but battles with the cold fronts that come through. So back and forth, back and forth.

We usually don't pack clothes until the very last minute, because the forecast can change so suddenly. But I do know that I'm hoping for those 80's to stay far, far away!! After the 19th, fine, y'all can have the heat. :thumbsup2

I'm new to the board and new to Disney World! We are going Feb 5-12. My daughter and I will be the only ones in our group that has never been and I'm so excited to share this with her (she's 4). We're going with my in-laws and my husbands grandmother so ages ranging from 85-4. We have an ADR for breakfast at Akershurs on the 6th to surprise my daughter with. We're not staying in the park though. We're not used to spending that much time together so we thought a place big enough for us to still have our personal space was a must. I can't even put into words how excited I am!

ugg i knew this way going to happen, I figured out our schedule this afternoon, then called for Ressies for some character meals and they are all booked up. The CM was supper nice and said to call back on Wednesdays that is the day alot of people cal and cancell their meals.

Here come the questions: We have been to DL three times in the past four years and have never seen Daisy Duck. My question is she just as hard to find in WDW? I could get the last breakfast for Tusker House (think that is right) to that we for sure see her. But the only time is Thursday which is my day for DHS since that is Fanstatic night. Oh what should I do?

We saw Daisy in Epcot on our trip in May- BUT Everyone said she as pretty rare to find- if she is a MUST do I would book Tusker! What day are you looking for? How many people? We have an extra Tusker ADR that I would be willing to part with on Sunday Feb 6th

Finally, last night, we booked our air fair!!!! DH works in construction, for a union, so there is no such thing as paid time off for vacation, and sometimes in the winter work can be few and far between (like last year when we had to cancel our planned trip). So nothing for this year was quite 100%. So, last night he came home and said we can finally book the air fair. We can go this year but it has to be our budget trip, we can plan again in a year or 2 for a fancier trip. We have already switched to POFQ (hoping for referb room) from AKL CL..... have no dining now, but we had DxDDP, and just want to add DDP, and decided to change some plans around, and drop the park hoppers..... we will bring our own stroller instead of renting (DD is 4 1/2).

So, MR. I have never had a vacation, and I really don't want to go to disney is ready to go, and said we could go back....... I'm starting to wonder if working outside in the cold in SW PA is getting to him!!!!!

Our ME information came in the mail yesterday!! WooHoo!!!:woohoo:

The mandatory trip meeting for the band kids is on Tuesday. I should know then EXACTLY what days they are marching and what times. Since my friend and I did not purchase hoppers, we might have to re-arrange a few things. I hope it won't be too much of a pain to rearrange dining reservations if need be. :confused3

I have friends down there right now and they said it is brisk. I think I'm going to pack for layers. Hoodies and t-shirts and jeans. Hopefully capris. I'm not going to go too crazy and try to keep it very casual. I've never gone at this time of year before...we've always gone when it is HOT. It should be a different experience!:thumbsup2

DS(19) and I will be there Feb 1 to Feb 10 at Pop Century :woohoo:

Staying an Old Key West for a much needed vacation. ADR made - using DDDP... eating our way through WDW...

how sweet of you to offer your ADR but unfortunately we won't be there until the 13th.

Hey, Everyone!

I was just reading my Unofficial Guide to WDW and am re-considering even going to Hollywood Studios this trip. We've never been to HS. We have a 3.5 year old girl and just reading what's there doesn't seem worth "wasting" a day there. We also don't have park hoppers. We weren't planning on doing Fantasmic! either.

From what I can see what we would do with our daughter would be the Beauty and the Beast show, Little Mermaid show, and Toy Story Mania if the line wasn't crazy long. Playhouse Disney is no longer there, correct?

Am I missing something? It just doesn't seem worth going for 3 things.

Also, we are there February 12-17 if that makes a difference.

Anyone want to give me some input? Convince me on why we must go to HS? :thumbsup2

Beth

muppets and the parade..

You can also book online, which I find to be easier. You can search every scenario rather than relying on someone else.
Tusker house would be great if you want to see Daisy. We have seen her every time we have gone even though she is supposed to be hard to find.
We have seen her in MK right at the entrance, In EPCOT as well and at Tusker house.

Congrats on your trip!
I have gone several times with family and we have always had so much fun! However one piece of advice I would offer is to try to split up and do things with your daughter. Even if it is just a ride or a dip in the pool with the both of you.

50 more days til my disney vacation.. i will be staying at pop century.. my kids still have no clue we are going. i plan on telling my daughter on her birthday the week before.. i have kept this secret for 137 days so far IT IS KILLING ME :)
