The *Official* February 2011 Thread - Happy Dance Time...The Park Hours Are Out!

Hey Gina-
I know- MK on a Saturday? Ugh. I figure since we are only going to be there for dinner, parade, and fireworks we can tolerate it :) Thank goodness we have two other days planned there.

Valentine's Day- I am picturing a super romantic dinner at Le Cellier- dim lights, steak, potatoes, wine- and OH YEAH a 5yo and a 2yo LOL!!!

My mom is in a new relationship and this will be her first Valentines day in FOREVER- I have no clue how she is going to react. Its kind of funny actually- her and her boyfriend (awww- friend from grade school that reconnected via facebook of all places) celebrate their anniversary monthly lol (like I use to do in grade school) "Its our 3 month anniversary so we are going to dinner" I swear she is worse than a teenager.

I can't remember who has the touring plan membership, but I'm curious if the data has changed for Feb 10-15 since all the discounts were announced??

I have it, and I don't really see any difference so far. I'm sure it'll change some either direction as we get closer, but February is still February -- and unless you're going president's week, it's just wonderfully empty. I can't imagine FD changing that much, because so many people won't or can't pull their kids out of school.

Just my thoughts!

Can I join? Just decided with my best friend to take our daughters to WDW Feb. 12-16. I booked at POFQ and my friend booked her room at WL. And just for fun I checked dining reservation for CRT and GOT ONE! WOOT! So DD and I will be having breakfast with Cindy on Feb. 13. :lovestruc

Of course you can join! Welcome!

I'm pretty sure we're going February 12-17 so almost the same time. We'll be having (hopefully, still need to make) breakfast with Cinderella on that Tuesday! How funny!

Allison, can you post your plan again? I know it's back there somewhere but am lazy. :rotfl: I'm trying to plan out our days and IF we upgraded to the regular dining plan. I just don't know. I still think we'll have to buy a meal or 2 out of pocket since CRT takes 2 TS credits.

Gina, you've been in February before? So is it really quiet? I just want a picture of Main Street to see how many people are there. LOL.

We went last year, March 15, and it was crazy crazy crazy. It was suppose to be an 8 but then they changed it last minute to a 10 I believe. It was nuts!

Beth

Lamb- try Ohana if you can get in on your MK day! Or Kona, or Wave lol- possibilities are endless

Mandy- Thankfully Le Cellier isnt 2 credits for dinner UNTIL March 1!!! So we will be some of the last people to enjoy it before the increase- WAHOOO! :)

Has anyone ever been on the pirate and pals cruise? I am thinking about doing something like that this trip....

it isn't? ha well thanks for that bit of info. I just assumed it was starting in the new year, but i'm not one for reading too much fine print...That is great then....Hmm, I think I'm going to change our akershush to lunch then and LC to dinner! Thanks!

Welcome PoppyGirl! We are going from the 12-19th

Mandy- No problem!

Beth- Sure. Last time we went with DDP we ended up paying out of pocket for CRT since we didnt want to use 2 credits on it

Sat 12th: fly in, MK, Crystal Palace dinner
Sun 13th: AK, Tusker Breakfast, Boma dinner (not sure why its listed as park to avoid- doesnt make sense, no early or late hours- )
Mon 14: EP, Le Cellier dinner
Tue 15: MK, Ohana dinner
Wed 16: EP, Garden Grill dinner
Thurs 17th: DHS Mama Melrose Fantasmic package dinner
Fri 18th: MK, Chef Mickey Breakfast (maybe), The Wave dinner
Sat- home :( hoping for late flight and then we would go to AK or DHS

I'm sad I don't have any TS credits left for Le Cellier, but I really wanted to do as much character dining as possible for DD. Maybe when she's older we'll go back and do the grown-up restaurants :)

Has anyone done Askershush (sp?) for lunch or dinner? What's the menu like? I see it online but I have no idea what that stuff is. :rotfl2:

Hi Beth! DS and I have been in early-mid February a bunch of times, and it truly is an awesome time to go!! He can ride Space Mountain 5 times in a row if he wants (which he always does) and I can do the same with Mission: Space. And PM EMH's that time of year are truly wonderful -- you feel like you have the park to yourself!

One of my very favorite memories is late one night at MK, just sitting on a bench in Frontierland, taking in all the little details that you just don't notice during the day. It was so quiet and peaceful. :goodvibes We haven't been for this long a trip in February in probably 7 years, and DS and I are both SO excited. I wish I had some pics of a deserted Main Street... But I have a bad habit of getting so wrapped up in all the Disney wonderment all around me, I forget to take pictures. Thank goodness for Photopass photographers!!

I can imagine it *was* crowded when you went -- that's right in Spring Break, right? Ugh... If it's anywhere near as bad as president's week, count me out. Never again! But then, I'm allergic to crowds and lines. :thumbsup2

Allison ~ After I decided we wanted to go pay OOP for dinner at Ohana, I penciled it into my chart. Just realized if that sticks, then we'll be there the same night! I texted my son to ask him if he wanted to go, and he said YES. lol That place is sooooo good.

Gina! AWESOME! What time are you going? We made our ADR for 6:30ish I think (Hoping to time it so we can eat and eatch the 8pm fireworks from the restaurant or the Poly beach)

Lynne- I totally understand that

Beth- I looked at the menus too- no clue lol- I think I would do breakfast.... though lots of people have said lunch and dinner are good too!

I don't know... *ponders*... We do love to watch the fireworks from the Poly beach, so I'd love to do that too -- But I know the last time we were at Ohana we were there a good 2 hours, I think. What time will fireworks likely be that night, do you know?

I have a couple other nights we could go relax on the beach and watch fireworks anyway, so if you don't care if two crazy people are waving madly at you at Ohana then I'll shoot for an ADR around the same time. ::yes::

I would be so excited Gina! As long as you dont mind my 2yo and 5yo being their wild selves :). Your son isnt a Star Wars or Batman fan is he? If so my 5yo will talk his ear off lol

Um... *I* am a HUGE, crazy, Star Wars maniac. LOL My son rolls his eyes at me. So your 5 yr old and I will have some great conversations!!! :)

Oh my gosh guys! I step away from the DIS for like two days and come back to 5 pages to read on here! I'm glad this is such a friendly bunch... Makes planning our trip that much better!

DBF and I will be at DHS on valentines day, with dinner at Yachtsman... Any opinions on it?

I'm still confused about our dates... and slightly worried about booking. With the way things are going financially I don't know how soon we'll be able to book... I really hope that the free dining rooms don't fill up TOO quickly!!

Ugh why oh why is that random week in the middle blocked out?! I liked our dates  and they were hard enough to settle on!

Hope everyone here is doing well ! :goodvibes

We'll be there during our February school vacation week: February 27th - March 6th at Sheraton Vistana Resort. (Visiting family near Tampa from 2/24 - 2/27... 11 days in Florida! :cool1:)

Less than two weeks until ADRs start... Now if we could just get those March park hours... :rolleyes1

I got a great deal on airfare Tuesday morning... Southwest $79 each way - $700 for four of us... I've never gotten such a great deal during school vacation weeks! We are flying in and out of Tampa (were planning to fly into Tampa and out of Orlando) but for the great price it works out OK since we'll have a rental car anyways. :thumbsup2
