We are planning on Aug 10-18 since the kids start school on 22nd. Any codes or any discounts> I get the 20% with AAA but would like to save some more $$$.

I am debating on making ressies for mid August. Not sure we will go if there are no discounts for us. We usually stay at the Poly Concierge and it really isn't in my mind to pay rack rate for that. I also said I would never go in the summer - coming from Houston - not really a vacation in the middle of August in my mind. We are bringing a son down there for college - so that is why we are thinking about going. Of course - this will be his second year and he is storing much of his stuff - so we REALLY don't have to come down with him. Maybe just wait and come at Christmas/NewYEars.

If I make a ressie - then Disney will think they have more booked than they do and not offer discounts.......because we would probably cancel if there are no discounts.

I have a lot of confidence that there will be room only discount codes for early August. Historically - they have offered AP discounts during this time. And last year, the AP discount came AFTER all the free dining hubbub!

SO I am watching and waiting and calling whenever they become available!!!!

As a member of AAA, we were able to secure some type of discount on the room at POR, however I failed to ask if it was 15 or 20%. Either way, if the "refreshing rates" are 15% off of what they would normally be at that time for values only, and we want to stay in a moderate with the AAA rate, it's somewhat the same percentage of discount, besides the moderate being a bit more pricey.

At this point, I am not getting my hopes up for any more of a discount than we already have...that way I'll be less disappointed if no discount arrives.

If a room discount becomes available and I cancel my MYW package with dining, will I still be able to get dining? We are staying moderate and delux so this far, nothing has been available for us. We went ahead and just booked it all. What if we want the dining plan but want to do a room only code?

It doesn't look too good for an early August discount, unless you have an AP.

I think somebody mentioned this on the July code watch. They had been talking to a castmember on the phone who mentioned the possibility of a code for early August. If I recall correctly, the codes last summer popped out in the middle of May. Keeping my fingers crossed
