This is the DIS Oscars LIVE Watch Party Thread! Everyone is invited. Newbies welcome! :welcome:

The Oscars are on an hour earlier. So is the Red Carpet.

This is the last, longest, hopefully the best, live award show of the season.
This is when they put on the best dresses.

Drop in and out at any time.

We have two Red Carpet channels this year. (ABC usually has exclusive coverage when they start airing their Red Carpet a half hour before the award show. At that time, E! will then show rerun footage of the dresses and the hosts just start talking amongst themselves.)

Start times:
East Coast (EDT):

The Red Carpet starts at 4:00PM - 6:30 (ET) on E!
The Red Carpet starts at 6:30PM (ET) on ABC.
The Award Show starts at 7:00PM (ET) on ABC. <-- Earlier start time!

West Coast (PDT):

The Red Carpet starts at 1:00PM - 3:30 (PT) on E!
The Red Carpet starts at 3:30PM (PT) on ABC.
The Award Show starts at 4:00PM (PT) on ABC. <-- Earlier start time!

This will be a NO SPELLING & GRAMMAR POLICE THREAD!
The Spelling Police will be off duty and possibly slurring their own typing by the end of the evening. Typos allowed! :woohoo: :drinking: :drinking1 And if your posts are still making sense by hour 3, you aren't sloshed enough. Or, we are as toasted as you are! :lmao:

Let's have another fun evening! party: :jumping1: :rainbow:

I've only seen Bugonia and Frankenstein from the Best Picture list. Bugonia's story is really interesting, but Frankenstein is so beautiful to look at.

I’ll be there! I have to watch the Big 10 Championship basketball game at 3:30 so will miss a lot of the red carpet.

I went to a movie marathon yesterday and saw:

Frankenstein
Hamnet
Marty Supreme
One Battle After Another
Train Dreams

The theater had the other movies last week but we couldn't go.

One Battle After Another was my favorite. Great cast, great acting and a fun story.
Hamnet was my second favorite. Jessie Buckley was mesmerizing in her role. I thought it was interesting that the actors who played Hamnet and Hamlet were brothers.
Train Dreams was a sweet movie of love and loss. Lots of "golden hour" shots of beautiful landscape.
Frankenstein was pretty, but it didn't get interesting for me until the second part. I didn't like violence so I spent a good quarter of the movie hiding under my jacket, LOL.
Marty Supreme was my least favorite. It needed some serious editing to get rid of so much superfluous garbage. I liked Marty, then I hated him, then I liked him again, and so on. I didn't enjoy being emotionally manipulated by the movie. I guess it gets kudos from being able to do it but I also said to myself multiple times during the movie that I didn't care what happened to any of the characters.

Please be advised that SOME ABC stations in the southeast, particularly in Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi may not show part or all of the OSCARS tonight due to severe weather coverage. No awards show is more important as the immediate safety of you and your neighbors. Please keep this in mind before you complain to the ABC stations that cut off your viewing of the OSCARS.

I wonder if Hulu will have it live and people can follow the weather on their phones. Much of Wisconsin is under a blizzard watch, half of the state is under a no-travel advisory, and our Governor had issued a state of emergency. I expect to see weather coverage on my TV too.

Interesting 🤔 🤔 🤔 why wouldn't non Oscar folks watch other affiliates for weather and the ABC affiliate just carry on with the show... what is the research behind that type of viewing choices

Because important weather alerts interrupt scheduled programing to let people know that there may be danger. Wouldn't it be terrible if someone was watching the Oscars and a tornado sprung up and they didn't know because the ABC affiliate decided not to alert their viewers and "ruin" the awards show?

I'm disappointed Wicked for good, didn't get more nominations. The only movie thats nominated is Sinners it's weird

For some reason I don't think Wicked or Wicked For Good were the darlings of the awards shows. No idea why though.

New award starting tonight: Best Casting Director.

Also the Humanitarian Award goes to Dolly Parton!!! 🥰🥰🥰 I can't think of anyone more deserving. 🥰 I don't know if they will give her award live tonight, or if they did it at the Technical Oscars.
