The only bit I know about is that Nicole's character is abused badly by Alexander's character. It was hard for them to film. That's why Nicole & Alexander are always thanking each other when they win the award.

I read somewhere that it took a real emotional toll on both of them, understandably so. I'm sure it brought up difficult feelings for a lot of people, and I'm sure it made it difficult to watch. I thought they did a more realistic portrayal than you often see, especially with the therapy...but I digress...

Also, Reese was instrumental in producing this movie and getting Nicole to do it, and then they both got all the other women in the cast on board.

I'm so out of touch. I've never heard of 80+% of the movies, TV shows, or actors nominated. Maybe that's a good thing.

At least I'm familiar with most of the presenters.

The abuse scenes with Nicole and Alexander (as well as their sex scenes) were very difficult to watch. I fast forwarded through them many times.
