~*~*~*~*The Official DECEMBER 2015 Thread*~*~*~*~

First time on DISboards and first post - but not first trip!

At the Cabins 12/6 - 12/12. We have gone the last three years in October, but we really wanted to experience DW in December.

Woo Hoo

For those interested, the schedule for Disney's Holiday D-Light Tour have been released. I just booked the tour for my wife and I.

First DIS post and first trip to Disney World during Christmas time. Will be going Dec 1 - 9 at GF and Boardwalk split stay. I went last year during Halloween time and loved it. Since Christmas is my favorite time of year...I can't wait!

I have noticed a lot of people are doing a split stay vacation (stay at one resort and then change to another resort). Not to sound like a dumb question but why do that?? I mean you just get settled into your room and then you have to move to another resort and room.

This allows folks with longer trips to experience 2 different resorts, likely in 2 different areas of the World (Epcot resort and MK resort, for example). They will move your bags for you, so it's really not much of an inconvenience, but not really practical on shorter trips.

We just did a split stay where we did a week at Poly and a week at BC - it was like starting our vacation all over again! I have to admit I wasn't the biggest fan of packing things up and unpacking again - but it was super fun to switch it up in the middle of our trip! We will definitely do it again but only when we can do a long trip like that again.

I totally get it now on a long trip. It is like having two trips in one and since they will move the luggage for you, it seems more doable. I will have to remember that when planning a long trip. Our trips rarely are longer than 7 days and at first, I couldn't understand why people would do split the resorts when staying 7 days or less. If we ever book a longer trip, I will absolutely remember splitting the trip as they changes things up.

Thanks for the reply!!!!

When they tape the parade, is the entire route roped off like normal or can you move through Fronteirland and Liberty Square freely?

As was said earlier I like to do split stays on longer trips. We also planned so that when we are at the Boardwalk we do all of our Epcot and Hollywood Studios during that stay. Then at Grand Floridian we do everything we wanted at Magic Kingdom like the XMas party and BOG dinner. I probably would not do it on a shorter trip but I definitely like the change of scenery on a longer trip.

Roll Call is finally up to date. Thanks for your patience, ya'll. You know how it goes... Life and stuff. :goodvibes To those of your who made changes, THANK YOU so much, as most of you were kind enough to mention the dates you were listed under. As the Roll Call is organized by check-in date, giving me that information saves me a lot of time hunting you down in the list to get your information updated. :thumbsup2

Is anybody else feeling that dreadful lull between ADRs and FP+? I want to do Disney World things... But I've done pretty much everything I can! I sat down and came up with my first ever touring plan (sorta), which I discussed over the last couple weeks in great detail in my PTR. But beyond that, I really don't have hardly anything to work on for this trip until October. :scared: It's making me crazy!

Oh, and I also am still waiting on the CP narrator announcement for Dec. 10... :surfweb: A couple weeks ago, I did as a few PPs mentioned, and grabbed a dinner package, but am waiting to see who the narrator is before I decide if I'm going to keep it or not.

How is everybody else's planning coming along? :cutie:
I am feeling the lack of planning needed as well! My daughter and I made a countdown chain yesterday, even though I had already made a countdown calendar earlier :rolleyes1
Now I am working on my spreadsheets again, and thinking about making a little schedule type book for my daughter to carry in the parks when we go. She is getting to be quite the little tour guide in the parks - even though we have been several times, and have the parks pretty well down, she still insists on stopping to grab a map at each park entrance, going off to the side, asking where we are going first, and then wants to find it on the map and "guide" the family there - I think my tendencies to want to know what we are doing and when may be rubbing off on her a bit :rotfl2:

So mom just got back from an anniversary trip with my dad in May, but is all set to have another (she wants to see the Osborne Lights in case they don't come back next year), so we just booked a mother/daughter trip for this December. :) 11th-16th at Pop!

We're going!!
WL 12/3-12/7. It's first December trip AND we're surprising the kids (waking them up and going to airport!).
Looking forward to lower crowds than our normal 4th of July week (at least-I hope?).
Decided not to do MVMCP (did I get all the letters right?). I'd love to do it but with 4 year olds and an 11 year old who go to sleep early-it's not worth the extra money for cranky kids the next day (my kids wake up at 6am-every single day. No matter how late they go to bed. Sigh...).
I'm bursting with excitement. And we still have 4 months to go!!

I'm doing a split stay so I can spend some days on the boardwalk to easily explore Epcot and DHS (got a great rate at the Dolphin) and so that I can still use DME to get back to the airport. The rest of my days are at POFQ.

It's official: we will be staying at Saratoga Springs from 12/26-1/2! So excited that we are finally confirmed :D The biggest problem was making dining reservations for New Years Eve so late.... so few options left :( What are everyone's plans for New Years Eve? We have typically spent NYE at Hollywood Studios but found it to be pretty boring staying there all day last year since there are so few things to do there nowadays. We are doing Epcot instead this year. Really looking forward to ringing in the new year with a trip around the "World"! :)
