The OFFICIAL December 2014 - Christmas Magic

Add us to the list! 12/12-12/20. Going to hit up Universal too.
DD9, DD5, me, DH, and a set of grandparents. Cannot wait!

Add me and my DF to the Christmas Group: Dec. 13-20th. :wave2:

So far a few glitches in reservations (for some reason tickets and hotels not wanting to link up and making reserving VERY difficult). :confused3 Hoping this will all be resolved soon.

Wanted BOG on the 17th but cannot get it. But got everything else, so who knows, it could all work out in the end. Going with the flow!

DF is a first-timer and I haven't been in... mmmmm years. Totally underestimated the work of planning, though.

Welcome to the thread!

I know there have been some glitches with computer reservations. I think Disney just keeps growing and updating and it takes a while to catch up.

Now your name says Australian? But your coming from Germany? Either way that is quite a long way to come. :boat:

I think we are a helpful bunch, so just let us know if you need advice? :moped:

Lucky you to be bringing grandparents! Where are you coming from?

Harry Potter fans, huh?

Is this your first WDW vacation or are you all veterans? Lot's of information here.

We are driving down from Hilton Head, SC and staying at the Fort Wilderness Cabins. We were originally staying at the Grand Floridian until I realized that my daughter who is 2 will be turning 3 before we check in. My vacation went from 5k to 8K in a flash due to separate rooms needed. I decided to save money on resort and spend it on events and such. My children are 3 boys, ages 11, 9, and 5, and my baby girl is 3. One question I had, is it worth it to rent golf carts or are the buses adequate to move through the Wilderness Resort? Thanks all for any advice.

This is the 2nd time I have been to WDW during the Christmas Season and the decorations are beautiful. You and your family are in for a Magical Time, pace yourselves, as was said earlier you can't do or see it all in one trip.
My sister, our one niece and myself are planning on taking the Sleigh Ride that is offered at FT Wilderness Campground. We either wanted to try that or the Hayride that is also offered there. The Hayride is not as expensive and you don't have to make reservations far in advance, as it is on a first come first served basis and when I looked last it was around $8.00 per person.
You will learn a lot from The DIS BOARD. I don't know anything about the golf carts or the bus system for that Resort, but I do know that the decorations there are breathtaking as are all the Resorts.

Have fun planning.
Over 30 years ago my sister took me on a "trip of a life time" and then there was just the Magic Kingdom, since then we have been back about 6 times and each time we see something different and we create special memories that our families will always treasure. Each and every time it has been Magical! I hope you and your family will experience the same!

Hello all! My mom and I will be traveling down December 15th-19th, staying at POFQ. I've stayed there before for one night, but Mom never has and it's her dream resort! We were last there for the holidays in 2012 and had a great time (stayed at WL)!

Just wanted to let you know, I saw a thread they I think you would have interest in reading. The title: ~New~ Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds Thread 2014

Hope you have an easy time finding the thread. Linda popcorn::

Hello everyone! I am joining in on this thread. We were originally planning on going on our first ever trip to Disney World in June 2015, but decided spur of the moment that we wanted to go for Christmas! We will be there 12/21-12/27.

It will be my husband and I, our son and his family (two girls ages 17 and 3), and my daughter and her family (1 girl, 14, and her 4 year old son).

We will be staying at the Cabins of Fort Wilderness. We are trying to be realistic as far as the 2 toddlers are concerned and know that if we are at the parks when they open, the little ones will never make it up long enough for any of the light shows, but I have heard that some of them can be seen from the marina area of Fort Wilderness.

We plan to do the Hoop-dee-doo Revue, but no other dining plans have been made. I was wondering if any one knows if any restaurants serve traditional Chirstmas dinners. I saw on a Disney Food Blog that Liberty Belle Tavern does, but of course they are already filled up for Christmas Day. Is there a way to find out if they serve that only on Christmas Day, or maybe everyday during the Christmas season/week.

We are trying to pick the most important things to see, in the limited time that we will have before the little ones wear out, then we will go back to the cabins and let them rest and enjoy the Fort for the evening.

Any tips on the Christmas dinner will be appreciated.

Cathy

Liberty Tree Tavern always has "traditional" American fare served family-style for dinner.

Here's a link to the list of places that have some sort of Christmas dinner.

Thanks so much for that information! I just managed to get reservations at Whispering Canyon!!:)

Hey Everyone! Just found this thread & joining in! My family will be taking our very first Disney trip this year. Our dates are Nov 29-Dec 6. It's me, DH, DD8 & DS4. The kids don't know & I'm hoping to be able to keep it a surprise. We are booked at WL & have already bought tickets to MVMCP & the Pirates & Pals Fireworks Voyage. Our ADR's consist of:

1900 Park Fare Dinner
Ohana Dinner
Sci-Fi Lunch
Hoop Dee Doo Revue
Akershus Breakfast
Via Napoli Dinner
Crystal Palace Breakfast

Now I just need to reserve a CP dinner package next week. Probably San Angel Inn or Coral Reef. I am soooo excited to experience Disney with my family...and at Christmas! Yaaaay!!!

Yay, how exciting! I stayed at WL over the holidays two years ago and it was awesome! You've picked some excellent ADRs as well.

Help!

I was just about to book the Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue and I started doubting that decision. Has anyone ever been there with a 3 year old and a 4 year old? I really am not sure that they will sit there for a 2 hour show. Especially after a day at the Parks. Is it entertaining enough to keep them going for 2 hours? :confused3

My first question would be, what time are you thinking about booking? 4:00 or 6:15 they would probably be okay; 8:30 might be pushing it. Kids seemed to be pretty entertained while we were there (just observation, we're two adults). There's quite a bit of audience interaction, singing, dancing, cheering, napkin waving, etc.

It would be the 4:00 if we do it. I wouldn't dare to attempt the 6:15, lol! I know they wouldn't handle that one and still be able to get up in the morning to hit the parts. We would have to be in Category 3 and that is up in the balcony so I was wondering if we would be to far away for any audience interaction. I am pretty sure that if we were in category 1 they would be fine, we would be fighting to keep them from joining the show, lol! But, just not sure about being up in the balcony.

I am bummed that we didn't make this decision to go soon enough to get Mickey's BackYard BBQ, but it is all booked the entire week of Christmas.:sad1:

That's good to know, what section were you in? We will have to be in the balcony with our dining plan. Is that to far away for them to get involved in the show?

If you're on the dining plan, I believe you can be in category 2 OR 3. 2 does have some seating on the main level; this was the view from my cat. 2 table in March.

We were all the way to the right, in the outer ring of tables. We had booked only one month in advance. Booking earlier might get you more centered but further back, or it might put you up in the center of the balcony. They did have some of the cast go up into the balcony at points!

Hi! We will be there 12/20-12/26, but we are staying at Coranado. It will be our second Christmas trip! You will have a blast!
Can't help with Christmas dinner, as we are doing AK and Tusker House 12/25.
