The OFFICIAL December 2014 - Christmas Magic

If you ask at HDDR, they will also bring out mac & cheese. It is so good!

WookiePants and I will be at WDW from December 5 - 20th. It's our first time enjoying the Christmas holiday season, and will be our 3rd time at WDW. We've been in the spring for the Flower & Garden Festival, and in the Fall for the MNSSHP/F&WF events. It's just us two middle aged geeks. We don't have kids - but then again, we are big kids, so we love WDW.

We're staying at POFQ and will be in the parks for 10 days. With the exception of the Candlelight Processional, we have all of our ADRs done, including Be Our Guest dinner!!

As of today, we're planning on participating in the following:

1. Candlelight Processional
2. MVMCP
3. La Nouba
4. Disney Quest (on a non-parks day)
5. Sleigh Ride @ Wildnerness Lodge
6. Mini golf
7. Osborne Lights

We are especially looking forward to doing the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom game again - this time I have EVERY card, even the holiday ones! Yep...I'm a completionist.

We'd like to spend our free time enjoying some of the decorations at the various resorts. We're participating in the DDP, Memory Maker and I'm trying very hard to use MyDisneyExperience, even though that system is still a little clunky (especially because I can't put Disney Quest on our schedule). I also use TripIt as a backup and I have spreadsheets too. I'm a little OCD with the planning, but I'm not an OCD tourer. I've been planning since December of 2012, so the fact that we're 167 days out is pretty awesome!

I'm really looking forward to this trip! So glad to have found you guys!

Welcome aboard. I'll be at the Riverside 12/10-17th. Maybe we'll see you on the water cab to DTD or at River Roost for Yee Haw Bob.

On your EPCOT day(s), don't forget to budget some time for the Storytellers. My personal favorite is the Monkey King. But La Bofana and the different incarnations of Santa are very cool as well.

And I also have a hard time with MDE. Whether it's on the site or the app on my Kindle.

Your plans sound great. We have never been to Disney this time of year before, but have seen some of the decorations when we usually visit in November. Definitely looking forward to see more this trip. I have a question though.
What is the Sorcerers of Magic Kingdom Game and how do I get the cards?

We very much want to see the Festival of Fantasy parade at MK. But we are not arriving until the evening of Sat, Dec 20th (can't get there earlier due to school schedule). The final MVMCP is Friday, Dec 19th. I am afraid that the Festival of Fantasy afternoon parade will be replaced by the Christmas parade at the 3:30 pm slot and that the evening parade will remain MSEP. Any chance that the FoF parade would still be in the afternoon and the Christmas Parade at night in place of MSEP???????

I guess I can busy myself with the fact that my ADR date is coming up soon. I am still on the fence about the Christmas party. I guess I will see what the vacation account looks like as it gets closer. What's everyone thinking of for ADR's? We always like to do a mix of old favourites and some new places. [/QUOTE said:
We always go to Narcoossee's at least twice during our 10 days in WDW. We can't hit all of our favorites each trip, but we try. That includes Tusker House, Yak and Yeti, Cape May, Chefs de France, Chef Mickey's, Coral Reef, Rose and Crown, Mama Melrose's, among others. We try to do one or two new places each year. This year we are going to eat breakfast at the Wave for the first time as well as do a CP lunch at Biergarten. I lived in Germany for 11 years so I have some high expectations! Our 180 day mark is Monday, so we are anxiously waiting to get on line at 6 am to make those ADRs. All except the Candlelight Processional which is being rumored to be available Monday, July 7th.

I don't know for sure, but my guess would be that the Christmas parade will replace Festival of Fantasy in the afternoon time slot. Here's an old times guide from 2011 and you can see that it was in the afternoon then.

December seems so far away, but at least I'm getting some planning done. Once the planning is done, it's going to be a long wait, though.

I'll be going with my wife, 8 year old son, my Mom and her husband. My son has Down syndrome and has been twice before, but I'll be visiting the disABILITIES board for ideas on how to integrate the new DAS card with Fastpass and Fastpass+.

So far, here's the plan:

Dec. 13: Arrive, shop at DTD
Dec. 14: AK - Dinner ADR at Yak & Yeti, wife and I may head to EPCOT for Illuminations or to the Polynesian beach or TTC to watch the MK fireworks
Dec. 15: EPCOT - Lunch ADR at Le Cellier (our first time going there)
Dec. 16: MK - Breakfast ADR at CRT - Wasn't able to get ADR for dinner at BOG, but will keep trying. My son loves meeting/flirting with the princesses so I think he'll love CRT. My wife, son and I will be going to MVMCP. He loves character interactions, so we are going to try to get to the Seven Dwarves early.
Dec. 17: I'm thinking about doing an ADR at a resort. We rarely leave the parks, but I think we may try something new.
Dec. 18: We'll probably just hit what we've missed, and we have a large group of extended family that will be there, so we may do something with them.

Let me know if you have any ideas for the 17th and 18th.

In 2012 after the last party the Christmas parade replaced the afternoon parade. We arrive on Dec this year too!

So far so good with the ADRs! Restaurant Marrakesh dinner Dec 21; BoG (yay!!) dinner Dec 22; Grand Floridian Café dinner Dec. 24; Crystal Palace brunch & Le Cellier dinner Dec. 25; Splittsville dinner (Dec. 27) and that's as far as I could get.

Anyone know if Fantasmic dinner packages will be offered in December?

I debated about the sleigh ride. Right now, we're deciding between the holiday sleigh ride and just the regular carriage ride. I can't decide!!

How early should I start scoping out a spot for the fireworks during MVMCP? We're going Nov. 7th, the first night. All I really care about is he fireworks.
Also, how do I keep my spot? Will here be CMs shuffling people around, or can I stand/sit on Main Street hours in advance?
1st time going to Disney!! YAY!

We did the Holiday Carriage Ride at Fort Wilderness last year and really enjoyed it. Our driver was chatty and personable and we enjoyed seeing all the decorated campsites and trailers. The people at Fort Wilderness go all out and it's really neat to see.
We ate dinner at Trails End beforehand . While it was a decent dinner the restaurant was PACKED solid because it was just a few days before Christmas. The waits for the buffet snaked around the restaurant and got confusing and some people weren't all that patient about it. The managers stepped in at some point and wouldn't let anyone else in until some of the congestion improved. Might have had something to do with the lady at the check in podium ahead of me. She showed up without an ADR and asked to seat 26 people in several table configurations. To my surprise the overwhelmed girl at the check in desk sent them in and it caused some chaos. I did overhear the manager telling her to never ever do that again without checking. I felt bad for her. However it's part and parcel of the holiday season at Disney. It was still great night and I would recommend the restaurant for some good comfort food, and a carriage ride after.:santa:

We are headed back to Disney this December! We took our daughter for the first time in July 2013 and she talks about it every day! We just booked our dining choices today and I'm so happy! Now, to try to be patient for the Candlelight Processional Dinner Package...:lovestruc

I also requested to join the Facebook page. What a great idea!

I am going as well on December and went in Dec 2013 and my daughter talks about it every day. To which Facebook page do you refer? I will like to join as well. Thanks! Enjoy your planning process!

I have made reserv at Kings Grille, Via Napoli and Kona. I read on the Disney Blog that CP will be available July 9th. If you see it on the 7th, let us know! ;)

You know as far as the fast passes are concerned, if we want to book the 60 days ahead we need to know which park we are going to each day. I know they can be rearranged somewhat on the fly but I am thinking that could become stressful. You do you all think? :surfweb:

I hate to say it, but unless you arrange special as in paid viewing you need to find a spot and sit there for 60 - 90 min in advance. It may not be super crowded on Nov 7th, but I would still hold my spot at least 1 hour in advance. Talk to a few CM's to find out where is a good place to view. Love fireworks! pixiedust:

I know which park we'll be at, we're 60 days out, and it won't let me make any FP+ selections beyond 30 days from now. What I think is that even though I am always a big planner, this FP+ is making this "vacation" seem like a lot of work and stress. I started trying to get BOG at 180 days but we'll only be there 4 days this time and I couldn't get any. Now I can't even get FP to work. This the first Disney World trip I have ever been stressed about, and it's our 20th trip. I absolutely hate this FP+ baloney.
