The Official December 2009 Car Rental Thread

I still get $248 for Dec 5 to 11 with those codes. If I put in Dec 4 to 12, I get $199. :confused3

Wow, that is crazy. My reservation is longer, but less. Here's mine
(picking up at 11:30AM and dropping off at 10:00AM).

Base Rate - Intermediate (USD)
(1) Time & Distance ($174.89/Week) $174.89
(1) Extra - Time & Distance ($24.98/Day) $24.98
Discount ($29.98)
Discount Coupon Accepted ($35.00)
Contract ID 5007160
Inclusive Rate Items
Guaranteed Base Rate Included
Unlimited Miles Included

Subtotal $134.89
TOTAL is $192 after taxes and many fees added.

I have a 15 day rental from Dec. 12-27 for a full-size from National for $405. total. I used the entertainment code and a double upgrade coupon. This is for picking up at MCO. I would rather ride the DME and pick up at the Dolphin but then the rate is $575.00. I don't know if I can justify riding the DME for $170!

Wonder why there is so much difference? It doesn't even make sense.

Hi All We are flying in from Canada for the Holidays and wanted to rent a car the second week (Dec. 29-Jan. 4th) or somewhere in that general time frame. We are finding the prices to be VERY HIGH. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Joan

Do you really need a full size car, or will an intermediate do? You can shave off about $60 at Alamo with some of the codes from MouseSavers :).

The rates I quoted were for an intermediate (upgraded to full size with a double upgrade coupon). So you're saying I could get an intermediate and save $60. per week or for the full reservation? I thought I checked all codes/coupons. Can you tell me what specific codes/coupons you are referring to? I would like to check them out. Thanks!

No, I'm saying that you could save money using a different coupon than an upgrade coupon if an Intermediate car is big enough for you. If you *really* need a Full Size because of the number of people you have then it won't work for you.

We could get by with an intermediate. Can you tell the code/coupon I can use to save $60.? Thanks!

I don't remember which one worked the best, but I used the codes over on Mousesavers.

Everyone should check out Alamo right now.

I used the following coupons from the Entertainment book:

Coupon Code: AF3067JDW
ID: 7014303

My dates are Dec. 10-17.

My total which includes an extra day is $193.55 for a full size car! :yay::yay::yay::yay:

The previous reservation I had on hold was Dollar for $272.00.

congrats:thumbsup2,u just timed it right. WM rate i found still less for my dates (even though cheaper than National, im going w/them for guaranteed ExecA full size vs Alamo QS intermediate:)).

btw, not sure what the coupon entails u've used (it was in area of $20 when i checked) why not use email coupon code ad2123jmc for $30 off instead?;)

curious, did u price out the intermediate (or better on aisle using QS signup)popcorn::?

Thanks for the email coupon code, it did save me $10+. Do I need to print out an email coupon?

Can I combine a Entertainment ID with the email code? If so would I just bring any of the Entertainment coupons with the ID?

Thanks!

For my dates which are late December the prices are still over $600.00 even when I apply both codes. . Has anyone had any luck with late Dec. dates?

for $34 per day from Dec 5th-13th. Does this sound like a good deal? No rates published on Priceline were less than $550 for the same timeframe.

GRRR...word of advice...don't keep checking your rates after you have a nonrefundable booking! I thought I had a great rate with hotwire for 146 for the week. Just checked...Now it is at 126! Driving myself crazy!!!! December rates....if you need a deal, now may be the time to try it. My dates were 12-5/12-12!

Yeah ... that's why I never pull the trigger Hotwire/Priceline until 2-3 weeks before my dates. Your dates are still a month away. You *still* got a great deal, so I wouldn't feel too bad.

Have you tried Thrifty with the Orlando Magic Card Code? We have a minivan for $229/ week plus taxes with that code. I think it comes out to similar to your rate, but it might be worth checking.

i've never had a problem with alamo or national (although i did read posts that others did some time back with national:confused3)

anyway...

DS taking college boards so im up bright & early decided to check national rate jik...

it dropped another $15:banana:

$165xx for 8 day rental, full size with ExA service

i did have to cancel & rebook, for some reason modifying wouldn't give me the rate

fyi, the standard EA ID produced a very good rate (5007125), yet i kept the same corp code i used initially as described earlier in thread & the $35 coupon...still can't get the $40 email one to work for my dates

happy hunting

Thanks for the heads' up. I went back and checked mine too. It's also down. I also still can't get the $40 coupon code to work for me either. I'm happy with a Fullsize for $176 for 8 days. (Also used the same codes are you -- 5007160 and $35 coupon)
