The Official December 2009 Car Rental Thread

Oh heck ... I checked Alamo with the codes from Vacation Outlet (http://www.vacationoutlet.com/car/default.asp) for 12/10 -12/14 and got $120 with all taxes for a Compact car. That's a good starting place :).

Thank you for this link!

I just reserved an intermediate car from Alamo for 12/17 - 12/26 with an additional driver included for $203 total! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

My only concern is that I got a message saying that I might be asked for a coupon at the rental counter. Is there a coupon I might need to print out?
:confused3

anyone have any luck with rates from the CCC? We always rent from them so we can get a smaller car, take DME from airport. But not finding great rates. I hate to go without a car, especially since we are having dinner at different resorts.
The CCC and the Dolphin are now both just as expensive as the airport. I booked at the Dolphin back in July when it had regular rates (I'm at $179 with tax for 12/20 - 12/27) but the rates have gone up since then. You can try other companies at nearby hotels. Most of them will do a pick up/drop off just like the CCC.

That is a GREAT rate! Which coupon did you use? If you used one of the Vacation Outlet links (like the free day) just print out the linked page as your coupon.

where else in the area has car rentals that will pick up and drop off?
You need to check each car rental company and look for locations in Lake Buena Vista, FL or Orlando or Kissimmee. For instance, there are at least one or two companies in the hotels along Hotel Blvd.

Yes, I did you the Vacation Outlet links. I used the one day free coupon. The daily rate was $17.71 which is the best daily rate I have seen for my dates. So on top of a great daily rate, I got one day free!

Thanks for the tip. I will print the page out!

Hi, I booked Dec 2-11 with the Vacation Outlets code on Alamo for $188 for a compact. I applied the free day coupon, after the corporate code. It doesn't have a place for you to apply another coupon (e.g. $15 off), but I figure that $188 isn't too bad.

Welcome to the DIS!!! You can only apply one code, so the free day is probably worth more than $15 :).

The Walmart id code (got it from Mousesavers) gives you the same deal for Alamo as the Vacation Outlet id code. I coupled that code with a $30 off coupon (also on Mousesavers) and got $212 for an intermediate for 10 days (Dec 4-14).

The price would be exactly the same if I did the Vacation Outlet code. Can any of you experienced car rental people see any advantage in changing to the Vacation Outlet code instead of Walmart? (Mousesavers did say there have been a couple of very isolated incidents where Orlando Alamo didn't like the Walmart code??? Even though it's clearly advertised on Walmart's website for Walmart customers???)

I was able to get my December reservation down another $50 by using a coupon code that I found on the Alamo website for a free 1 car class upgrade.

Wait, you got $50 off using a car class upgrade? Why am I not understanding that? Or it it just the rates that went down?

check national ressies:wizard:

mine (full size car, ExecA) dropped another$40 today to $180xx (8 days, beginning 12/5) today:banana:after coupon #nd1276fdt ($30)...that's $90 less in little over 2 weeks!

btw, there is a $40 email coupon emeraldclub, although it wouldn't work on my dates:confused:, members may want to dig thru their emails jik to see if it works for them.

What contract code are you using? I got $248 for Dec 5 to 11 using 5007125 and that coupon.

I checked my Alamo rates and it is actually higher as of last night with the Costco codes.

Maybe I'll check other companies just for comparison. I have a compact for 11 days for $182. I don't think I'm going to do much better than that. :thumbsup2

HI everyone, I was just wondering of anyone had tried using the sunpro ID code yet. We just made an emergency trip to Ft myers fla and when we used entertainment book coupons (cheaper for 3 days) no one asked for a code, or coupon. In the past no one has ever asked for anything (maybe making $10/hr checking out cars really removes your need to see a coupon?).

Anyway just wondering if anyone has tried sunpro yet for alamo. If so, experiences???

Wondering the same thing ... My rates for Fort Myers are still sky high in early December. I'm holding a reservation through Thrifty, but I'd far prefer National for the convenience and the extra driver.

My rate for Dec. 4-12 is under $200 now too! (dropped last night). I'm using 5007160 and $35 coupon ND1276FDT.

I also saw the $40 coupon and I should be able to use it, but no matter what code I use it won't work, so I'm thinking there's just a glitch right now with it.

i was thinking orlando isn't participating my dates:confused3or allotment was quickly redeemed

btw, i am using an 'ancient' disney club code...the club is long gone; the code isn't;). As it's an affinity code & not intended to general public, im not comfortable posting; although I suppose one could find it via a search easily enough. It's the one card i've never been asked to produce, YMMV

I couldn't get the new coupon to work either for my dates 12/9 to 12/15.
We are now going to take DME to our resort, then rent a car from National at the car care center for 4 days. I used 5125601, NF4861ADM, and have a midsize booked for $122.21 total for 4 days. DH wants a car for moving around property and to get to the Regal Sun for our NFFC convention, but he finally admitted that he likes the DME service from and to the airport.

Wait, you got $50 off using a car class upgrade? Why am I not understanding that? Or it it just the rates that went down?

The lower cost is because with a car class upgrade coupon, I am able to book at smaller car (intermediate) but the reservation is really for a standard size. Does that help?

I still get $248 for Dec 5 to 11 with those codes. If I put in Dec 4 to 12, I get $199. :confused3
