The Official Dec. 2010 Code Watch

Hi everyone! This is my first time posting on the trip planning forum and I'm so glad I found it! I'm looking to book a trip for Dec. 18 - 22 at the Contemporary or Bay Lake Tower. I'm hoping and waiting on a discounted price for December too!! I've already learned so much from reading your past posts, so thank you! :worship:

It took three calls and some improvising but we got free dining. Originally Dec. trip was the 3rd thru the 11th at POFQ. Exactly the black out dates for free dining. The first cm: free dining only thru 10/2/10. Even when given the code he insisted that no free dining it ends 10/2/10. The second call the cm said we could not arrive on the second and extend dining through our trip. The third cm named "JULY" was wonderful. Yes we can arrive Dec. second and get free dining through our trip. We were not able to get POFQ :( but we did get CBR. Get this: Originally had 30% off POFQ for 8 nights DXDP. Now have CBR 9 nights DXDP and It is still $400.00 less that original Pkg. ( adults, one 11 year old (adult DP) and 1 Child). We can not arrive until the 3rd but it is still less paying to not use the hotel room one night and adding a night of dining. More meal credits for signature dining. We will miss POFQ though.
Just goes to shoor the answer you are looking for. LOL. Got to love it.

So if you are getting the free dining due to your reservation starting on Dec 2, but you can't arrive until the 3rd, then how are you going to check in on Dec 2?

You know if you don't show up on Dec 2nd they will cancel your entire stay, from what I have heard.

We booked for Dec21, however we will arrive shortly after midnight, so we ill actually use the room for that check in night, but if we weren't arriving until 7am,which is when we usually check in, they would cancel the whole thing. Again, all of this is based on what I have heard here.

Now, with that said, we went in Sept 2008 and were arriving about 4am on a Friday morning and was told that if we wanted to get into the room, we had to pay for the night before, because the system updates at 6am. Had we arrived after 7am, we wouldn't have needed to pay for the extra night. And actually, the system was down when we arrived at 4am, but they had printed out our packet and room keys because the arrival time was noted on our package. This was a room only reservation.

We went in December last year and our flight was cancelled on Dec 10 due to a storm in Buffalo. We called WDW to let them know and arrived on Dec 11 about noon. I suppose PP could call & say they will be arriving late if they are driving in... If you are using ME I don't see how this would work because they will know when you are arriving. :confused3

You know, I really don't think this is true because our travel agent purposefully booked us on September 24th just so that we could check in on arrival at 6 AM on the 25th and not have to wait until 3 PM later that day after driving all night long with 3 small children. :dance3: I would advise calling the resort though, and alerting them of this late arrival.

The room computers reset at 7 AM, so arriving at 6 AM on the 25th is still considered arriving on the 24th. Now if you hadn't arrived by 7, you might have lost your reservation. I believe the cancellation is programmed into the computers, and there is little that a CM can do about it.

We talked to the cm about the possibility of not being able to change flights and at first she said that we needed to check in by 11 am or call the hotel directly and tell them that we are running late and when we would be in. The whole package will be paid in full ahead of time so I don't see where they can cancel you reservation out right as long as you contact them.

That is the good thing about Disney, you don't have to wait until 3pm to check in, and you don't have to pay for the 24th either. The only reason we had to pay for the night before was because we arrived at 4am and wanted to sleep for a few hours before hitting the parks. I guess the system actually goes down after 1 am, because we have checked in at midnight and they were still up, but that morning at 4, they weren't up yet.

I wouldn't pay for the extra day (or in your case, I guess technically, an extra hour) if I didn't have to. We are booked for Dec 21 to get free dining, but we may not arrive until midnight, depending on what time we get off work and can get on the road.

I made our reservations for Dec 2, then DH reminded me of play tickets that we have for Dec 3. So, we can't get there until the morning of Dec 4. I called and spoke to a CM about it. She said that the policy is to cancel any reservation if you have not checked in within 24 hours. I said that we would have already paid for the room for those two nights and didn't mind loosing that money, but she said that we couldn't do that. She even put me on hold and double checked the policy. :guilty: So, there is no way for us to keep our reservation with free dining, which means we can't stay at AKL.

The funny thing is that if we switch it, we will save $500. I'm not sure why they would want to loose that money.

I was also wondering if a friend could check us in and pick up our tickets??? My cousin will be there on the 2nd and wouldn't mind checking us in. :confused3 I can do most of it online anyway.

Here is the thread to list our dates of travel in December and to keep us posted on any codes/rates that are coming out. Feel free to ask any questions and post any information. Please state your dates in a new post or PM me and I will add you to the list. Happy Planning!

I was wondering the same thing. We also have another family member that could physically be there on the second and I would let her use the room. Disney let her activate the reservation and stay in th room for the night then we would arrive on the Dec. third.
Again our cm said as long as you stay in touch with the hotel they would not cancel your reservation. After all planes are delayed and vehicles break down and people are late every day. Life happens how can they maintain any customer service if they automatically cancel a paid in full reservation when pple come to them from all over the world? True blue please let me know what you find out about the cousin. thanks, :confused3:confused3:confused3

They were "buying" the extra night because the promotion ends the day before they could arrive. Checking in the next day makes them totally ineligible for it. Having an "arrival date" of the prior day would make them eligible for the promotion for the entire day.

I'm kind of surprised the CM suggested this!

I would think that the person checking in would have to be on your reservation.

Also from my past experiences everyone on the reservation had to be present at the time of check in. I know on our last trip both my sister and I had to be there to show our IDs. I am pretty sure it was that way on our previous trips as well.

Yes that person has to be on your reservation. But No, not everyone has to be there. I have heard many times where one preson gets there earlier and checks in with no problem. Also one year, I was off to the side with DD while DH checked in.

I SOO wish they would give out discounts for Christmas week. I know, I know, they won't, ever. But a girl can hope right?? I am booked out in town but would LOVE to get my "Disney fix" in, but without a discount, it ain't gonna happen. I'm still gonna keep my eye out for any possibility of extended discounts. *crossing fingers*

OK, I apologize from the beginning because I am coming in late to this game. I have been stressing all week because I foolishly booked my airfare last week when I misunderstood the cm about the available dates of my pin code; then found out that 12/4-12/9th were unavailable with the pin of 40% discount (well the 4th is ok, but the rest of the dates aren't).

Then the free dining discount came out, but it had similar black out dates. Now, from what I am reading from your posts now, am I reading correctly? If the offer is valid on my first date of check-in, will it be valid for all days?

Again, sorry for the confusion. I am just so confused at this point.

All of my dates were blackout dates but the first 1 or 2 but when I called to changed to the free dining it was for the whole trip...as long as you check in on a non-black out date.
