The *OFFICIAL* CVS Thread - Post your CVS deals/questions here. *UPDATED OP*

CVS ECB's - Just an FYI!

I saw different people post about the $20 ECB wyb $20 in Excedrin, but it wasn't advertised in our flyer here in Michigan. I also asked in the store about it and was told there wasn't any Excedrin promotion in this area. It was to good of a deal to miss out on, so I went ahead and bought $23 worth (minus a $4 off $20 CVS coupon, a $1.00 manuf coupon, a $2.50 off any pain reliever CVS coupon and $5.99 in ECB's!) on Saturday and checked my acount today...and I got the $20 in ECB's! :thumbsup2

So, my lesson for the day is if you read about it here or on another board, but don't see it offered in your area, go ahead and purchase it but don't open or use it for 2 days. If the $20 ECB's hadn't shown up, I would have returned my unused purchase!

Just my 2 cents worth (or 20 ECB's worth!);)

ok, I just signed up today...do ECB's show up right away? How do you know if you got any? I bought the pantene trial sizes.....

No, they don't show up right away...you have to wait 48 hours after you purchase the items.

At my local CVS, you can use as many ECBs in a purchase as you want.

On another board that I keep an eye on, it seems that Michigan is 1 state you really have to watch what CVS deals there are. It is reported that alot of the ECB deals are not valid there while TX & FL seem to have extra deals alot of us do not get. I would do exactly like you did and purchase whatever items I could not pass up on - like the excedrine deal and leave the bag in the trunk till my ECB's showed on my account - that way noone in the house can open the packages too until I know I got credit, and if not, return them.

Here's a question for you experienced CVSers. My MIL gave me some ECB coupons generated on her card, since I live closer to the CVS. Can I use them with my card or must she give me her card too?

ECB's have a card # on them so you have to have the card that goes with the ECB's - no interchanging them with different cards. If you look at the ECB it will say *********4105 - the last 4 numbers on that particular card so yes, she will have to give you a card as well - when you get the cards it comes with 2 keytags & 1 big card so maybe she has an extra she could give you and still keep her own.

Are you sure you can only get 1 bottle of the listerine in your area? In my flyer it was listed as a monthly deal...limit one deal per customer. HOWEVER the deal is you can get up to 9.98 in ECB's so you should be able to get 3 bottles. Does anyone know for sure how this works???

I answered my own question this morning...purchased 2 of the Listerines on Sunday and only got ECB's for one. I guess to get the full $9.98 you would have to purchase 1 of each item on the page showing the monthly deals?? Oh well I guess it is a wash anyway because I made $3.04 on the Alevert deal!;)

Here if you don't have your CVS card with you, you can give your phone number and they will look it up and enter. Perhaps, you could just give your mom's telephone number and her card would be accessed?
You might want to be sure the phone number instead of card works the next time you go for yourself using your card and first telling cashier to look your number up instead of card. If she/he can't then you could find your card :)

ok, so I checked my account today and it shows $8 ECB since I bought 8 of the trial size Pantene shampoo/conditioners...cool...they expire 4/13 I think.
They also gave me a card they had been swiping for customers that did not have one but did not want to sign up, it has $300 first qtr spending but no other ECB's!!

Yeah, they only gave me ECBs for 1 of the Listerine bottles I bought. Oh well...I may return the other one. I have a ton of ECBs that I have to use....anyone know what next week's sales are going to bring???

Thank you!!!

Can anyone explain the "point balances" section to me? For example, I have 3 points under prescriptions and it says it end 1/1/08. Do points mean dollars? When would I see those dollars print? I'm confused about that whole point thing:confused3
Thanks

FYI - IF you are not going to use them before they are due to expire you call call CVS #800 a day or so before expiration and ask them to reset them so that they will not expire for another 30 days.

I saw that today when I printed off my ECB's - so you can only use one ECB per order now, is this new?? I used 4 last week and I have 5 this week for a total of $35.00.

It has always printed on the bottom of ECB's but it is up to the discretion of your local CVS wether or not they take 1 or multiples per transaction. Some people have only been able to use 1 per transaction and they have to put through several transactions to use up their ECB's. Mine locally takes multiples and it sounds like yours does too! :)

Listerine limit is 1 but I have gotten back 3 for the colgate toothpaste :cool1: Purchased 2 at once then another 1 a separate time. You can return the 2nd Listerine if you don't want it.

Thanks

This is my understanding: points = the # of transactions you have done for that type of item. Pick up 3 prescriptions - either together or separate = 3 points. Now you get $1 ECB for every 2 prescriptions so you have earned 1 ECB so far and 1/2 way there to a 2nd ECB.

Another example - I purchased 3 colgate totals on 2 separate trips. When I look at my statement it reads:
2/25/07 TOTAL ADVANCE (3 Points) description: FOR THE MONTH OF MARCH '07 PURCHASE TOTAL TOOTHPASTE ADVANCE CLEAN AND EARN $2.99 IN EXTRA BUCKS I have received 2 ECB's back on this - 1 for $2.99 & 1 for $5.98

If there is a limit - which most of the time there is - if you purchase over the limit it will not show any additional points under your balance. Receipts have been printing out at the bottom of the receipt now: This weeks Extra Buck Offers with a Balance. So when you purchase something with ECB's at the bottom of the receipt it will say: Listerine Buy 1 get $2.99 EB then it will tell you how many you have purchased under the balance column and then it will print *offer limit reached - if you have fulfilled that ECB. If you can purchase more of that item and get ECB credits it will not print the *offer limit reached - statement.

Wow! We are just starting this. I have read through most of this thread, and if my question has been answered, I missed it and I need a clear answer. If you need to purchase two of something to qualify for the ECB, can they be purchased on different days of the week...one each time? Say an Alavert today and the other on Friday? Thanks! :goodvibes

Thanks Happy Day for explaining the points. I get it more now. Still have more questions though. If it says the promotion ends 1/1/08 I guess that means that you can still keep earning points for rx's until then, but when would the $ (points )I've accumulated print out?
Thanks again.

When you read through the CVS ad sometimes it will state that the items must be purchased in 1 transaction. I always make sure to purchase enough to cover myself on those but others have broken up items into separate transactions and still received credit so you never know. I follow the ad as closely as possible because I don't like to return things and if I am going to be buying it that week, I just do it in 1 shot so I know that I completed the requirements - that way if I don't receive the ECB's I have 1 receipt showing amounts vs. several receipts when & if I need to argue it. Deals like the Alavert deal state "when you buy 2" but it does not state "in 1 transaction" so you could do 1 on 2 different days.
