*** The Official August 2019 thread ***

We have 12 days and I have a cold. Better than having a cold at Disney. @ILoveMyDVC We should probably do this instead of packing soap and stuff but DH is usually concerned about them not having his 'brand'. Skin allergies.

Yes, won't work for specialty items - but then again, what store do you buy it in at home? I bring MAC and NARS make-up because I am not wanting to hunt down those stores and buy full size bottles but I do Walmart for Advil, shampoo, Ivory bar soap, Tide (washer/dryer in room), bleach, toothpaste, Kleenex, hair stuff when DD joins us, deodorant, etc...it's the same price or cheaper than home. I don't have to worry about TSA or leakage or forgetting anything. It's become a part of our trip. Land, shuttle (in airport), luggage, rental car, (pick out car - this can take time and is a favorite part of the trip) Walmart(Target), Check-in.

well one week from today and I will still have 9 days to go lol!
And still not packed nor even thinking about packing most likely-will be busy with back to school stuff.
ME!!! Ill be Snow White. My DD will be Evie from Descendants (DD of SW!) and hubby Grumpy
Oh how cool! This adult likes the Descendant movies :)
I have one of those over the door Vera bags, but when it's full of takes up a lot of luggage real estate.
I bought one of those travel bags that get advertised on FB for toiletries-omg I love it! it holds a ton but organized. Does take up space but holds so much
"shoe covers" my mother used to give us when we walked to school in the rain. Havent seen them in years, but they must still be sold somewhere, right?
I am picturing those shower caps hotels give you slipped over the shoes lol
or wellies
Love my wellies!- but not at a theme park

But as far as overpacking-pack like you are going on a cruise-lots of space saver tips.

@ILoveMyDVC most of the stuff could be found at Target, Walmart rarely has the soap he uses. Our thing is that usually our flight gets in late, like 10pm so we don't want to have to go shopping first thing.

Completely unexpected and last minute trip: Grand Floridian Aug 16-19th! Anyone else crazy enough to go to first MNSSHP on 16th? Taking my grandson for first time!

We are! I am thinking of doing the Toy Story villians, Lotso (me) and the guys as Sid and Al. I am trying to think of costumes that will be cool and easy.

Does anyone know what the rules are concerning the lead person checking out a few days early? If I need to leave 2 days early would my sons be able to stay (they are 20 yrs old)?

My daughter and I have been playing "One week from right now...." all day!

One week from right now, we will be at our hotel, probably sleeping!

Tell me what you'll be doing on the 1st Wed of your trip, either 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 4 weeks from right now!

On our first Wednesday three weeks from today, we will be at DHS for SDD,
then hopping over to AK for FOP, and EE!

MNSSHP on the 16th, yup, we'll be there. DW will likely be wearing the Parasol girl dress (from the Haunted Mansion) and carrying the matching parasol. I will very likely be wearing my Passholder Haunted Mansion shirt, have no idea what DS will be wearing.

Last minute trip because we are going to Tampa on the 16th for a concert. We will be staying Aug 14-17 at ASMo, planning a half day at HS on Friday and then driving over to Tampa for concert and coming back that night.

You've been added to the Roll Call. Hope you have an amazing trip!

Thanks. I do appreciate the security but it was so weird. This is the same small town credit union I have had an account with since I was 12 (and I'm 47 now!) so they normally would just contact us. That's why it was so strange to us. The fact that this is my normal monthly shopping (since hubby is a teacher and gets paid once a month, I do one big shopping each month) so the kids would have plenty of choices and easy meals for while we are gone. My daughter and youngest son have very different taste on foods so even though DD loves to cook, she wouldn't want to cook a full course meal for just the two of them so they would both have something to eat. Let's just say I bought plenty of pizzas, frozen hamburger patties he can grill and easy things like quesadilla stuff so youngest son (18 yrs old) can definitely fend for himself and not rely on DD cooking anything.

Hubby and I also have GCs to pay for our meals since we don't have the dining plan and I have some cash and have my credit card linked for mobile ordering some places but we will probably use the debit card for gas on the way to nashville and home again.

Our first trip to Disney, I had pretty much never traveled out of my home state for more than a day at a time, so we drove from NY to Florida. First afternoon in Downtown Disney (now Disney Springs) and my credit card got turned down when I tried to pay for lunch. Thankfully, I wasn't absolutely relying on it, and was able to pay with my debit card . . . called the bank, and that is when I learned about notifying them that we would be travelling out of state . . next up was my debit card, which also got locked, then once I got that one fixed, I was smart enough to call the bank my other credit card was with and tell them I was in Florida before that one got locked too lol.

I have learned, I put in travel notices for all of my accounts, even if I don't plan on using the card while I am away. I also have a combination of money in my checking account, two credit cards, some cash that I carry with me, and numerous Disney gift cards.

My father used to wear those but I can’t remember what they were called

We always called the golashes, though I don't rightly recall the last time I saw anyone wear them. In Disney, I wear my sneakers. They get wet, they dry. If I get up in the morning, and they are wet when I go to put them on, I will wear my sandals that day.

Well, let's see, I'm kind of late to the party, as it is 11:36 now. One week from today, at 11:36, we should be back in our Villa, soaking in the jacuzzi tub before we head off to bed. Wednesday in general, will be our first day in the parks, which we will spend in Epcot, and will finish our day there with supper at the Rose and Crown, and Illuminations!

Hi! Last minute trip for the SWGE AP previews - Aug 16-22 at All Star Movies (yay $74 a night deal on Priceline :D). Add me to the roll call? Also, if anyone wants to cancel a 4 pm ADR for Storybook Dining at Artist Point....send it my way!! :)

Me! I'm slightly terrified of going to the first MNSSHP but hey, why not? :)

You have been added to the Roll Call. Hope you have an amazing trip! We will also be at the MNSSHP on the 16th.

I used to be you. Nowadays, buy regular toiletries at Walmart or Target when we land. I bring my make-up but there is a Sephora at Disney Springs and they do samples for anything I forget.

Smart idea to hit up Sephora for samples of what you forgot!

And now it is August! Not sure if this is just a UK thing, but ‘pinch, punch, first of the month, no returns (except to WDW)’ to you all!

Never heard this but I like it.

Does anyone know what the rules are concerning the lead person checking out a few days early? If I need to leave 2 days early would my sons be able to stay (they are 20 yrs old)?

I dont know the official rule, but I do not recall any reason why I need to be with my family after checkin (that sounds awful!) I dont even go to the desk at checkout. We just leave. (But usually the night before I get a printed copy of my charges to review...but I just give name and room number. They never ask for ID or MB..nothing)

I'm still obsessively checking the weather. It's so silly, but I got so excited when the forecast of our arrival day switched from 90 to 89 degrees. One degree doesn't really make a difference, but 89 just sounds so much better than 90!
It will be hot and humid with periods of rain. There - now you don't have to check anymore. ;)
