*** The Official August 2018 Thread*** - let's have some fun....

A week from today will be nearly on our way-at least on our way to STL, then airport there. DH and I are flying out at different times-he is going to ballgame at noon and flying out at 7p, I'm flying out at 4 with the bags. I wanted to get to resort earlier LOL. In 2 weeks will be on way back home:sad:

Side note-on line with GS to modify reservation (have to shorten Pop one since we are doing AKL 2nd part) and the hold music is Haunted Mansion!!!

I hate wishing time away, but these next three weeks better hurry themselves up! :)
Same here! I hate wishing the rest of summer vacation away but I am ready for vacation.

I'm glad you said that! We always have left it off the list, but since we are going to MK so much on this trip, I made sure to include it. Looking forward to it now :-)
I think it is cute, we skipped it the last couple trips but it is such a nice AC stop I definitely think we will be visiting it on this trip.

3 weeks from today will be Day 2 for us! Ee would have already finished breakfast at Chef Mickey's, and be headed to our FPs at MK for Philharmagic - which we have never done before!

My crew loves Philharmagic. We do it multiple times a trip, although not as much as we used to. MK is always our first park and we are sure to visit because it is one of our "Yay, we're really here," attractions. My son even watches the YouTube video after we are back home.

I would check the wait time before using a fast pass on it though. We have never needed one for it.

Ok, I've got transportation set. We are using John Murray's service again, http://www.transportation2disney.com/. I found these guys on another thread on the DIS when we were going to Universal last year. I would have used Magical Express, but we are getting in late and I'd rather get to the resort as quickly as possible. When we went for Universal, he met us in baggage claim and was parked right nearby; it was quite convenient.

Last things I'm doing are seeing if I can get EMM on a particular morning (all full, but things may open up closer to the cancellation timing). I'm also thinking about whether to purchase some cooling towels.
Noticed the link for John Murray's service. We are in need of one way car service from our resort, to MCO at an ungodly early hour, so I was not comfortable using Uber. I never imagined Orlando would have so many airport transportation services, so I really did not know which one to use. I am assuming that you were happy with JM since you are using them again. I am going to give them a call.

Hi, yes, he and Tony Hinds, who is highly recommended on the UO transpo thread (this is a link to a post re: Murray, but Tony is also noted in the thread): https://www.disboards.com/threads/t...niversal-resort.2793369/page-27#post-57561962) were the two I was deciding between the first time. I, myself, would go with either, if John didn't have availability i would go with Tony. It's a flat rate per ride (not per person).

John texted me before I took off to confirm my info and i texted him as soon as i landed and we stayed in touch until we met at baggage claim. We were nearly half an hour early, but he was there and met us at baggage claim with no delay. He had a van that took us to UO. I mistakenly left a bag in the hotel room when he was picking us up to go back to MCO and he was gracious while waiting an extra 20 minutes while I had to get the door unlocked. I am also uncomfortable taking Uber alone with the kids (though less expensive) because it is at night, otherwise I'd do that - we did recently take Uber to UO, but that was for I think an 8am landing so it was light out, yada yada...

Thank you for all of this very helpful information. I am going to make arrangements ASAP.
:thanks:

Well I tweeted a few weather guys about next week weather since it’s basically 50-60 percent rain chance everyday and they told me yeah it’s basically rain chances in the afternoons and we’ll see rain but no wash outs. Sun will most likely shine in the morning hours.

Which is good

:sunny: Typical Florida summer weather; this is a good thing. Here's hoping the typical weather holds steady for all of us August folks. Have a wonderful trip!

That is pretty much what I'm expecting, although I'm hoping the showers are short. We're trying to get some evening park time this trip. Our touring style isn't to go in the morning, take a midday break, and return in the evening. It is hard to get my kids out again once we have returned to the resort. So for MK, AK and DHS we are planning to visit each twice this trip. We are going to alternate this trip between mornings in the park and evenings at the resort and mornings at the resort and evenings at the park.

The exception will be Epcot which we plan to do from around 10am to 5, then have a relaxing dinner at Garden Grill and then see what we have left.

Well, I just need this trip to hurry up and get here so I can stop thinking of things I need to buy. :bitelip:

Crisis averted with the teenager. Last year I just focused on having clothes comfortable for the heat. This year that meant a lot of solid colors because she can no longer wear youth sizes (thanks puberty); but she wanted some Disney themed shirts and something other than solid colors. She's been working hard this summer trying to get extra credit; so I caved even though she waited until the last minute to tell me.

Thank goodness for Amazon Prime. I found some cute shirts: a Minnie shirt, an Incredibles II shirt, a Mickey Mouse shirt. I also found one shirt that says "Making Magic Happen" and another that says "Dream, Believe, Achieve". Those will be here on Saturday. Finally, I found two really cute shirts at Wal-Mart. One has Timon, Pumba, Simba and Nala and says Hakuna Matata. The other has Stitch and says Ohana. We have a breakfast reservation there on our last full day. Thankfully, my son doesn't really care a whole lot; but then he already has lots of character shirts, just Avengers, which is what he is heavily into currently.

So still finishing things up. I charged up our power pods for when our phones need a boost. I ordered some surprises for the kids carry-on bags that will arrive tomorrow. Also drawstring bags for the children to use as park bags to carry a snack, poncho, extra shirt, dd to carry her phone and my extra shirt. My park bag this year is a cooler backpack to carry drinks and the cooling towels.

I put my SD card into my Nikon to see how many pictures I can take. Almost 3800. I won't even get close to that. My children will disown me if I start taking too many photos; but it's nice to know I won't have to stop and import unless I just want to.

Lastly I'm currently charging up my son's portable nebulizer, an item I of course hope we do not need. We rarely need it as his asthma is viral induced. Basically he doesn't have an issue unless he has some other type of issue first (icky stuffy nose, allergies, or throat infection). Finally got a travel sized one with a rechargeable battery a few months ago. Happy to be able to leave our big one at home.

I can't believe tomorrow is Friday. :woohoo:
