I am getting so excited for August! Every time it snows here (LI<NY), I love to Disney plan! I have a large group going this trip and am crazy planning and getting ready for ADR date. Since I blew through my DVC points at 2, two bedroom villas at BLT I am staying at POFQ the beginning of my stay. I also added a POFQ day to my trip because I have found flying out friday is cheaper than Sat.
With that said, how many of you are waiting on Southwest Feb. 8th day? Are we going to be fighting for our dates with each other...a horrible thought!!!
Does anyone one what time they open the flights? Midnight/6am/7am....etc.
I might also book another trip depending how cheap flights are and how far into 2018/19 they go!!! Praying for cheaper flights than what is posted...I can't tell you my flight cost possibility right now!!

My oldest LOVES the Mad Hatter too! We had breakfast at 1900 Park Fare a few years back (2014) and it was a highlight of our trip. We are considering dinner there this time. We have done dinner there back in 2011, so we thought it would be fun to have those character interactions when the girls are a older now. Fun fun! We've also done those character meals and hubby wanted to try Chef Mickey's again this trip. We did dinner there way back on our first trip in 2010. I see such bad reviews on here about it and I remember feeling like the food was mediocre.

First off, any time I refer to 1800 Park Fare, just read it as 1900. For some reason, I can't keep that straight in my brain, never have been able to. I've been calling it 1800 for 10 years now lol.

I've never done the dinner there, always breakfast, and always enjoyable. I think I like the breakfast at Crystal Palace the best, then 1900 Park Fare, and Chef Mickeys slightly behind. Chef Mickey's is not the best buffet breakfast we have had on site by any means. It isn't bad, just not great. However, we really enjoy the location. If you are fortunate enough to have a view out the window during your breakfast, and eat early, you can be treated to an amazing view of the sunrise while you eat. Additionally, they do have early breakfast, so you can valet park for the day, have early breakfast, and hop the monorail over to MK in time for park opening. It is then a relatively short walk back to the valet stand to pick the car up at the end of the night. Pretty much a perfect day as far as I am concerned.

Southwest Airlines opens their seats for the remainder of August (my trip time) and the first offerings are cheaper!

Just found this thread! We are going on our first trip this August! Our dates are the 19-28. My kids start school the day after Labor Day and that is literally the best time all year for us to go. (heat over crowds) Glad to have a place where I can be all DISNEY DISNEY DISNEY without annoying my husband or my kids finding out we're going!

Just an FYI, southwest changed the date to February 15th. It was changed a little over a week ago. Keep checking the website every once in awhile because the dates are always subject to change. I know I’m waiting for that date, and I was so disappointed that the wait is now even longer!

No problem! I’m not sure to be honest. I’ve read on other threads that they’ve opened it anywhere between 6-7am est, but I don’t think there’s a specific time. I was planning to start checking at 6. Maybe someone else can give us a more definite answer?

We are DVC members and are thrilled to be coming back to the World August 13th -17th. We are staying at the Villas at the Grand Floridan. We will be celebrating my youngest sons graduation from high school.

So, happy to have the family together before DH and I become sort of empty nesters when he heads off to college just weeks after this trip.

We haven’t been to WDW since 2016. We are looking forward to all the new attractions.

I’m sure posting actual companies isn’t allowed here but does anyone have any tips or can link me to a thread about how to choose trip insurance for WDW in hurricane season? We just booked last week and have never gone it before but we’ve also never been down there in August before...

We booked some trip insurance through our airline (Delta) last time we went in August, and AAA when we went in October, but I don’t think we will add it this time. Disney is a fairly safe place to ride out a hurricane if needed (usually they don’t hit Orlando area too hard) and airlines are pretty accommodating.

You won't get Main Street to yourself anymore on the way into a PPO Breakfast at Crystal Palace. Those days are gone. However, I still love getting breakfast there. The food is good, it is fun to get pictures with the characters, and walking out of breakfast into the park just as it is opening is an amazing way to start the day!

We've never done 'Ohana for breakfast, but we LOVE supper there!

We had the Rivers of Light dining package at Tusker House last year, because I really wanted to be sure to see Rivers of Light, and didn't want to use my FP+ for it. Sadly, Rivers of Light was not all that I had hoped it would be. It isn't bad, but it isn't good either lol. Lots of pretty show elements just kind of crammed together in a non cohesive way that fails, at least in my opinion, to tell any kind of story. However, Tusker House was a pleasant surprise. I was concerned that everything would be too spicy for me. It was close hahaha, but just barely in the realm of what I can tolerate and enjoy as far as spice goes, and it was quite tasty. We enjoyed that meal enough to want to eat there again this year, though we will likely skip the ROL package, and just dine at Tusker House.

Yeah. I’m less concerned about riding out the storm and more concerned about flights being cancelled on either end. I’m about 50/50 on purchasing it right now. If we do get it I want to be sure it we will be protected in the event of a hurricane.

We book our ADR's on Thursday February 8th (so glad Southwest moved the the opening of their flight schedule to 15th because it was originally 8th and I was worried about booking flights and ADR's on the same morning ). We have decided to add Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch. For years I've said we're going to do lunch there but we never have managed to fit it in. I want to try the ooey gooey dessert and the colony salad. Is there an AYCE turkey platter, etc for lunch or only dinner? Can't wait to book ADR's

Hi, we will be in WDW from 1st Aug till 22nd, also to celebrate my youngest daughter leaving high school. Luckily as they leave school here at 16 I'll have a couple of years before she flees the nest.
