The Official April 2012 Car Rental Thread

If you go through ebates.com, you can go to the Entertainment.com site and get 17.5% cash back on your book.

I am now down to $345.82 with Alamo for ten days via Entertainment.com, using one of their codes, all included and unlimited miles. :thumbsup2 (For a minivan.)

Also, for people interested in Entertainment books, not only can you go through ebates.com for 17.5% cash back, but it looks like their 2012 books are reduced by 35% right now, too.

FINALLY...Alamo's rates are dropping. Still hoping for better, but full size car using Costco code and $30 coupon for $258/taxes...much better than the $600+ we've been seeing up until now :)

Ok, I went with Advantage! The SUV Avis deal does not work for me as we get there Friday morning not Thursday afternoon.

I'm questioning why Advantage is so low though.

April 13 to April 24 Medium Car Nissan Sentra $182.69 using Hertz abnsave.com (you can join for free as individual) CDP 1935677

Any other reviews except that one guy?

I'm gonna roll the dice since I know how to take out my iphone and book through priceline if it doesn't work out.

I'm hoping it's just Hertz as a new owner putting out dirt cheap rates to attract business to it's previous bankrupted new company.:wizard:

I was wondering why Advantage was so cheap too. I was afraid to book it.

Yes, I'm not happy about the complaints I've read. And these are recent under the new Hertz ownership. Hard sell on insurance and buying gas or blatantly just adding insurance tripling the price and refusing to refund it if customer catches it before walking away from counter.

Yet there are other stories, recent also, saying no problem everything was fine. The bad stories happened with a man at the desk and the good ones with a woman at the desk.

Needless to say I'm hoping to see a woman when I approach the desk. I checked in online with their APASS option hoping to avoid any issues.

However, I do have a back up reservation with that SUV deal which I finally worked out with Avis and there's also Priceline or Hotwire on my smartphone should I need it.

But the rate does seem too good to be true.

I'm traveling Mar 31 to Apr 10. Alamo prices currently are $897 using code & coupon.

Need to go to plan B.

I've never used Budget before - are they right at the airport? Can you chose your car? Do they charge if you cancel a reservation?

Thanks.

Ok, I'll take a crack at it! :)

Yes, they are right at the airport. Pretty near the Alamo desk, actually.

No, you can not choose your own car.:sad2: Not with Budget.

Sometimes they do require your credit card on a reservation and sometimes they don't. Mostly now they do require your credit card and if they do, then they charge $75 if you don't cancel your reservation within 48 hours. But is states that clearly on the reservation.

Hope that helps! I really like Budget, but they are outrageous for April 13-24.

So as long as I cancel at least 48 hours ahead, there is no charge for cancel?

I think I just made up the 48 hours in my head so I wouldn't forget. Also, this reservation was made by logging in with my FASTRACK number which hold my credit information.

The actual wording on my res was:

• If your plans change and you no longer require the rental, you must cancel this reservation before the scheduled pick up time or you will be charged a $75 US fee ($50 US for a pre-paid rental).

So, there is no charge to cancel. Hope that helps.

Have you tried Budget? Using BCD x474200 (travelocity code) and E-Coupon MUGZ029 for $30 off you can get a minivan for $329.27 inc taxes after coupon is applied when you return vehicle.

I wish this code worked for me... when I go to Budget's site and put it in, it doesn't even return results for minivans. Everything BUT minivans. :([/QUOTE]

Got a minivan from Budget for 4/3 to 4/8 for $225 using those codes x474200
for a total of $295

Anyone else having good luck with the entertainment book codes? I've tried them all (my dates are only 2 days different) and the lowest I'm getting is $660.00. I wish I knew what I was doing wrong!

I bought an entertainment book hoping it would help but so far I'm not having any luck with Alamo either. :confused3

We also need an Alamo minivan for 10 days. I've currently got one reserved with a BJs discount for just under $600. I'll keep trying...

I'm glad it's not just me. Although, I'm sorry you wasted money on the Entertainment book.

Do you have to be with Alamo? We had good luck with Budget last year. Code x474200 is a public code. I can almost guarantee it will be better than $600. So far, my rate is $472.00 with taxes for 10 days but I was trying to do better with the entertainment book but that's not happening.

Are you going to Entertainment.com and trying through that website? I used the $25 off code for Alamo that's on the Entertainment.com website. I'm down to $348 or something like that so far for a minivan for ten days.

I would be willing to see if I can find something cheaper for you if you feel comfortable PMing me your travel dates and departure city/where you want to pick up the car.

DisMomAmy: I just put in APril 12-22 picking up at your airport in New Hampshire, and got it for $452.31. You can probably do better than that if you keep looking, but that's worth a look. I went to Alamo on Entertainment.com, and then chose the $25 off offer.

DISMOMAMY...try Budget using Travelocity code x474200 and coupon MUGZ029.

We are renting a minivan from April 12-22 but picking up at Sanford airport and returning to West Palm Beach for $467 with tax.

I think MCO rate is a little cheaper.

Good luck!!
