~*~The OFFICIAL 2014 Dates Thread - Come Join Us!~*~

Hey my fellow 2014 planners. I confirmed with the school board yesterday that pulling my two high schoolers for a week in October 2014 is NOT an option :furious:. But since I do want them to pass high school and go on to college I am moving our dates. We are now looking at August 14 - August 23, not looking forward to the heat, but I am adding the water parks to our plans.

When we were looking at the comfortable temps of Ocotber I was looking at 2 rooms at POP, now that we are looking at melting in August :beach: I am looking for 2 rooms at a moderate, and praying there will be a discount for either rooms or dining like there has been historically.

Can anyone help with recommendations for moderates including the Ft. Wilderness Cabins? It will be me (39), my so (39), ds (18), dd (17), ds (14), and ds (6). We are not interested at this time in renting DVC points. Having a big kitchen isn't really important :rotfl:. My SO does not live with me, I'm a single mom 90% of the time and really don't want to see a kitchen.

Thanks for any help. Hoping to book as soon as the 2014 packages are released.

Michelle

Yay!!!!!

That sounds great- I'm a firm believer that if you set your expectations accordingly no matter the crowds or groups a good time will be had!

Best. Post. Ever.

We go in the summer time, it's hot, crowded, but, yet we have a awesome time. Knock on wood..... my kids don't complain about waiting in lines, When we have had whiny moments I tell them that everyone here wants to do (what ever we are line for) just as bad as you! That seems to shut them up.....

Bearcats, sorry, this is my last date correction. We purchased plane tickets, so this is it: 2/10 -2/21.

As we are in Socal (DLR territory), Just could not resist the airfair we located for round-trip/nonstop. Under $600 for the both of us. :goodvibes

In other exciting news, looks like we might add a second trip in 2014. Two of close friends, have decided that next year is the year of the Coast to Coast medal. Our plans are to do the Tink 1/2 in January and then the Wine & Dine in November. Which means a Nov trip! One of our friends works for DLR, so he does get a discount, but he and I will sit down and play with the numbers for the FL trip. Time will tell if the Nov trip happens. I hope it does, as we were there last Nov, and it was such a good time. We were able to go to a Xmas party, see the Osbourne Lights, and eat around the world a couple times. One of my best trips out there.

That is all the exciting FL news for now.

Hope everyone is having a great day!!

Planning on going the beginning of February with my two kids to celebrate my eldest turning 7 and I'm hoping to stay at either Pop or All Stars Movies. I'll probably let my kids pick between the two. We will also be going in October with my parents and will most likely be staying at AKL.

I do have a question though: Has there typically been free Dining available in February and if so, what are the blackout dates? I'd really like to do the dining plan as I will be there alone with my two boys and like the perks and ease it will give me. Thanks:)

There was FD in 2012, we were there for Valentines week. I am hoping that they have FD when we go this next year. Looking on Mousesavers, it does not look like the offered FD this past Feb. :sad2:

In early 2013 there was some sort of stay, play and dine deal. Not sure what it involved since it didnt matter to me. The only free dining so far this year is for September. I am hoping for something for Feb too!! :goodvibes

I've looked and asked around with no definitive answer. Any idea how far in advance they release the deals?

Hello Michelle, and :welcome: to the 2014 group! The only mod I've stayed at is POFQ - very small, compact, and you have POR for a "sister resort" where you can use their amenities (restaurants, pools, etc.). :thumbsup2

I'll get you added to the list for August. :teeth:

Hey Kristi, no worries about the date changes! :goodvibes It only takes the quick push of a couple of buttons to update. ;)

I'll keep my fingers crossed for that second 2014 trip for you. :woohoo:

Hello and :welcome: to our group! Do you have any idea what your dates will be in February and October so I can get you added to those lists?

As far as FD or other promos, if you go to page 1 of this thread and scroll down to Post #2, you'll see a link titled "historical promo release dates" (or something to that effect) ... that should give you some idea on when, typically, deals and promos are released. Of course, WDW can add/change/take away at any time, but hopefully it will be of some help to you. :goodvibes

Thank you for the warm welcome:) I'm thinking either January 29th-February 4th or February 5th-February 11th. It will depend on if there's FD.Lol As for the October dates, I have no clue. I will definitely be checking out that link. Thanks again:)

Slight change to our plans. We're now going to be at CR for 1/23-24 and POFQ for 1/25. Decided 1 day in MK wasn't enough since the kids want to meet characters and didn't see the point in paying CR prices for just a quick overnight stay. The last night may still change depending on rates for RO but for now that's what it is. :) pixiedust: :woohoo:

Trip update: 4/30 - 5/14/14

Just found out yesterday that our 1st week has officially been booked at AKV! DVC point rental came through and I have a confirmation number and everything!!!!! So excited! Now I am praying that the universe is on my side our little value studio ends up being one that overlooks the savannah.

Now I just have to wait to make sure the 2nd week comes through and then I can start obsessing over ADRs.

As a girl who grew up in Disneyland... I am not used to this pre-planning your meals things. In Disneyland the only thing you really need a reservation for is Blue Bayou and Club 33.

You're welcome. :goodvibes Once you have firmer dates, I'll add them - for now, you're listed as dates "TBD". :teeth:

What ADRs are you considering? Some are more important than others to book ahead. ::yes::

I saw this today! Yep and in between my BBQ this evening I called member services and purchased APs!

Yay! :cool1:
I can save $75 if I buy tickets now but then I wouldnt get free dining. But there was no fd last Feb, so hopefully I would get a room discount. I asked DH and he said $75 is not much on a Disney trip, so he thinks we should wait. Now I wish I hadnt asked him. :confused3
Bearcatsfan, please put me down for Wilderness Lodge. We will see how long that lasts. :goodvibes

Ok decided to not buy tickets. FP+ is just too much of an unknown. I want to get the tickets from Disney. We might change our dates to Feb 8-15. This means no birthday, but the lower prices put CR back into contention. DH does not want a split stay so I need to choose one resort. I dont know why I feel like I need to get it all decided today when the trip is 8 months away. :lmao:

I am a hot mess today and am talking to myself!! Where is everyone?? So apparently, I have a different idea of our budget than DH does. :lmao: CR is still $500 a night during value season. Yeah, not in the budget. He wants to stay at AoA LK suite because it is new or POFQ because we can book a king room. And then we can have extra money to eat wherever we want without stressing about it. I think I will book AoA when rates are released and then see if discounts change anything.

I was out enjoying the summer weather :) in between the thunder storms! I can see not buying tickets now, it made sense for us with the APs and I have a little extra cash right now so it will just make our trips easier.

I get to book my resort on Tuesday for January! Yay! Hopefully by 9:15 I will know where I am staying!!

Question- have you guys ever thought about renting points?

YAY, we have just booked our 2 week stay for next year, our dates,, October 25th- November 8th staying at AKL :cheer2: :)

AoA is great! That is where we stayed this past may. (Cars suite). The Lion king area is cool but it doesn't have it's own pull. If that is something you care about. We loved our cars suite and the cozy cone pool. It was so peaceful.
