How do you run a marathon dressed as Chewy?
I think it's just the guy's beard. OH you meant a little further down...

Coach - I hope that your injuries aren't anything too significant and that you are all better soon. I only had 3 runs last week. A 4 miler early in the week. I 3 miler in what started as sprinkling rain, ended as torrential downpouring rain mid-week. And my 10.5 miler in the weekend. (10.5/1:34:01/8:57 min/mile. BLEH) We've hit chillier weather in PA. It was my first cool run. I did NOT love running in the cold. Can I just say that I'm super-happy that the W&D is in 19 days and I can hit the Turbofire workout system again in the comfort of my climate-controlled home?I don't honestly know where my running legs will take me beyond this race. This is a bucket-list item for me (running Disney). While I've found that I'm enjoying this running gig, I'm getting awfully busy with life. Long runs are TOUGH to squeeze in some days. Not having a treadmill also puts me at a disadvantage when the weather doesn't cooperate -
I hear you! This is bucket list item for me as wellI can't wait to go back to heated yoga in a couple of weeks. My legs are tired, my body is tired and my mind is tired. I'm also NOT a cold weather runner, I prefer the heat and it is starting to get really chilly here in western NY. I joined a gym over the weekend so I can use treadmill for the remaking weeks. I've never run on a treadmill before, so I hope I don't break any body parts or chip a tooth.
I might run again in the spring, but if I do it will be for fun, not training. Maybe the ToT 10 miler is more my speed, lol.
Good luck to all! Speedy recovery to the Coach!!

Seriously though...8-9 mile long-run up for this weekend. 6 or so up for next.
That is all the long runs left.
OMG.
UN-REAL.
We got this!
I was showing DD and DH the Osbourne Lights videos on You-Tube over the weekend. I put the Christmas Eve in Sarejevo song on my Running Playlist.
Happy Running W&D peeps!
PS - Figment -- you ready for the SNOW predicted this week. UGH?![]()

We just had the KC Marathon here and a guy ran it while knitting a scarf.
Go figure.
Coach- Here's another one for your opinion...I recently read, and I believe it was one of my Galloway emails, that an ice bath after running isn't necessary, that just using cool water will do the trick. I understand the thinking behind it, but was curious as to what you think.

This is my first Disney race and I can't wait! Not nearly as prepared as I would like to be but still looking forward to it.
For anyone who has done this race in the past - do people usually wear their headphones or is music provided throughout the course?
Thanks so much for the help!
I ran the race last year and did use headphones/music. There is some on course entertainment, but there were some long stretches with nothing. I was glad to have it. I had it turned up as loud as it would go to hear it. Be sure you have a fully charged battery!!
This year, I've been using a Garmin for my intervals. I'm a little worried about being able to hear it!! May have to rethink...

The theory is that cool applied to the legs will stop the small micro bleeds and reduce post run inflammation.
Studies show that there is little difference between cool water and icing. With that in mind, a cool bath would have similar therapeutic benefits as an ice bath.
Additional studies how that neither really are all that effective and that one should simply have a recovery drink and do a proper warm down post run. That would include a 15-20 minute walk post half marathon and a 30-40 minute walk post marathon.
Personally, I subscribe to the latter. I will have a recovery drink, walk and stretch out well post run. I developed my personal practices during a biking event where we rode 100+ mile days for 8 straight days. It taught a lot about recovery and how to refuel between long and hard days. I reserve ice for injured joints, use heat for muscle injury and just push through muscle soreness..
