WOW!! What a great day today! I went out for a run with the sun shining, 65-degrees and a gentle breeze and I found my sweet spot. I did my 1/2 Marathon trainer program which was supposed to be 55 minutes...5-minute warm-up walk, then run 4 minutes, walk 2 minutes and repeat 7 times, finishing with a 5-minute cool-down. Well, that did not go as planned. I got to the last 2 minute walk interval (almost 4 miles) and realized that I was not even out of breath! So, I reset the program and DID IT AGAIN!!
When I finally got home, I was a little out of breath (but still very comfortable) and I'd logged 8.03 miles
. Even better is that I maintained a 12:28 pace for all 8 miles
. My quads are a little sore and my knees were aching a little, but about 10 minutes after I got home, I took some ibuprofen and iced each knee for 20 minutes. I also made sure to do really good stretching before and after the run.
About a week ago, I was starting to get nervous. My training had fallen off track and I was having a lot of trouble getting motivated. In addition, my diet has been very bad lately so I've actually put on about 5 pounds. I was starting to get very worried that a 1/2 marathon was going to be out of reach, but after today, my faith is renewed!! I think I am back on track.
It's crazy how one day after a bad run we all get down on ourselves but luckily it usually only takes 1 good run to really help with motivation! I love it!

Hamstring, quad, glute, and calf. As soon as I get home, I hang my heels off the back of a step for 30 seconds each foot. Sit down and touch toes (or wherever you can) for 30 seconds. Quad:I'm hoping to really focus on getting on a training schedule in the coming weeks. Since my surgery, it's been a bit of a mental struggle for me, but isn't that so often the case? I managed to finish a 5K on my one and only recent run, so I'm confident that it's more of a mind over matter thing at this point. Positive energy!
Can I reach out for some pointers on everyone's stretching routines? What does a typical stretching routine look like for you? Any good recommendations on what I should include in my own?
Hope everyone is doing well on their own journeys!
That's excellent! Congrats on a new PR!I did the 5k yesterday and managed to beat my PB by more than two full minutes, even with my sore hip that felt every step my left foot took! I was so excited to be under 40 minutes, when I saw the clock at the finish I RACED to the line and got 38:04!!! Slow by some standards, amazing by mine!!! Lol!

Finally, any idea how many people are in each corral? Or how many people run?

Here are last year's corral assignments.

Note: not all bibs designated for corrals last year were assigned. For example, Corral A was bibs 31-2165; but if you look up the results you'll see that no bibs between 2103-2165 finished. So, it would seem that runDisney set a certain time for Corral A, expected about 2165 people to be in that corral, and must have had 2102 register.

Maybe 14K were registered and 11K finished? (So 3K DNS or DNF the race?)I believe there were just around 11,000 that ran or finished.
Yeah, I think it's tough to say. I think all of the races are different...I imagine it really depends on how many people they have in the race, who submits times, what kind of times they submit...I even think they may take gender into consideration (and friend and her husband submitted the exact same time to W&D in 2011...she ended up in B, he was in C).So what kind of a 10k time would we need to get out of the last corral? Right now, I could likely pull off 1:25 to 1:30 for a 10k (38 for 5k). I expect to shave some time off that over the summer and have a 10k booked for Sept on a nice flat course. So... Am I shooting for 1:20, 1:15, or 1:10? I doubt I will get any better than that. Lol. I also know its a bit of a guessing game.

Great job!! The heat is a KILLER.It was a bit warm today...80 degrees and no clouds, but I am not complaining. I know that I will have to get used to running in the heat. I started running at the end of last August so most of my runs were either indoors or in cool/cold temperatures.
I picked up an overtime shift at work tonight so I didn't want to run too hard...OOPS, I DID IT AGAIN!! I only went 4.03 miles, but I did it in 47:41
! That means I ran it at an 11:47 pace
. I tried doing the 4/1 instead of the 4/2 that I did my longer run and I could immediately tell the difference. I think I really need that extra minute. I'm sure that is why my time was so much faster, but this run actually made me feel like I was working. I had a huge uphill at the end that I thought was going to kill me
and, of course, I hit it right at my last 4 minute run interval. Since my goal is 12:30 (I don't want to set the bar too high for my first event!), I think I would prefer to slow down a little and go at the more comfortable pace, focusing on improving my distance instead of my time. I want to survive this event first, then I'll work on improving on my speed
.
My understanding on the numbers from last year is that there was a large number of that 3k that did not start (DNS). I'm not sure how many, if any, did not finish. I have heard speculation that even those who got picked up for pace still received medals last year, too.

Run Disney has on the Wine & Dine website that a submitted time is required if you expect to finish under 2:45. So if the last corral has no proof of time or 2:45 and slower proofs of time, using McMillan Running calculator a 2:45 half translates to a 1:14 10k. Based on that, a 10k faster than 1:14 should move you up a corral.
Results probably vary by race and field size but at least it's something to shoot for. Good luck!
I can verify this. A friend of mine only did 3 miles at DL last fall and she got a medal. She the wore it around the park al day after.
If you want to run,and are fast,it will get you in a front corral. The corrals are based on your finish time. If you think you will finish under 2:45, submit a time a 10K time. Not sure how bad Wine and Dine is,but for Princess it was much needed, major crowding.
