The Official 2013 Wine and Dine Half Marathon Thread

Anyone else make their ADRs for Wine & Dine weekend yesterday??

We have our post-5K brunch, pre-half dinner (super early, of course...and I will be doing some kind of dress rehearsal for this at some point in October to make sure I'm not setting myself up for a GI disaster :crazy2:) and celebratory dinner all set! :thumbsup2

179 days until check-in day! :yay:

QUESTION: We're pretty sure my husband is going to get a ticket for the finish line party. Can I pick that up for him at Wide World of Sports, or does he need to go get it himself? If I can't get it for him I think we're going to do the mailed ticket option....but would be still need to go to the Expo to get the included $10 giftcard?

I'm down with a hurt ankle and WISH WISH WISH I could run. When I first got injured, I would almost cry when I saw people running on the sidewalks around town. Now THAT'S a sign I'm crazy! :lmao::lmao:

I just hope that once I'm healed, the injury doesn't return. Anyone know how to avoid tendonitis in your ankles?

I'm at that almost crying stage too! Im trying to fix hip bursitis and I'm so jealous anytime I see or read people going out for good runs! Pathetic lol

I hate that others are struggling with injuries, too, but I don't feel alone in my misery anymore! I slipped and fell about 10 days ago and kinda sorta temporarily dislocated both kneecaps. Yes, both. I'm really talented at falling and hurting myself. I start physical therapy on Wednesday and I'm really, really, really hoping she lets me start running again within a month. It's the fourth time I've dislocated my left patella, so I'm not a stranger to knee pain, but this is the first time I've messed them up since I started running. Fingers crossed I get the all-clear soon, because I'm going crazy not being able to get out and run. :sad1:

Oh no, that sounds painful just reading! Wishing you and everyone else out with injuries a speedy recovery so we can all have a great Wine n Dine!

That sounds terrible! I hope you get some fast relief from physical therapy.

Hope all of the other injured folks are up and running soon.

I saw these just yesterday and my first thought was that they would go well with an outfit for the run. And the proceeds go for a good cause!

Those are super cute!! I think I'll order one after I decide what shirt I want to wear to the race. I'm considering my "Sea level is for sissies" shirt.

We did! Pre-race dinner on Friday at Le Cellier but considering switching to Artist Point. No ADR's for the day of; didn't want to take any chances.

Post race dinner on Sunday at Be Our Guest! Departure breakfast at Crystal Palace on Monday morning!

Count me in the injured group. Fortunately it's just a nagging minor injury at this point. My inner shins/ankles are just killing me today. Ok, so to be honest, they were really starting to hurt on Saturday night at towards the end of my run. I overpronate, so this has happened before, but I'm sure I've got the right shoes for that. I think my ankles are just getting WEAK from the stability shoes. Anyone have good exercises to strengthen these muscles!? It is SO hard to NOT run in the spring. Especially with all the W&D talk plus Tink and PHM right around the corner....

Wow- sold out!

Thanks for the encouragement about training for the Princess half and 10K. (I haven't been on for a few days, so it is probably 4 pages back) I am pretty sure that I will sign up.

I cannot believe it is time to figure out ADRs! I better get to that. Last year we ate at Boma the day after and really enjoyed it. Might do that again...

Thanks for whoever posted about adrs. I completely forgot!

We are now booked for via napoli on Friday, flying fish on sunday, and cinderellas on Monday morning. Yum!!!! Still gotta do a little more planning....

I had a great run tonight. 4.2 miles in `49 minutes. The best part was that each mile was within 5 seconds of each other. I love when I keep a consistent pace over the whole run. I felt like I could go further when I finished, so that was exciting.

Random question - I had ACL reconstruction on my left knee twice. Once in 2001 and again in 2003. I've had some slight nerve damage to my knee from the first surgery. Normally it just manifests itself in a numb feeling when I touch my knee cap. When I finished my run tonight, that numb feeling went from my knee cap half way down my shin. . Its fine now and I didn't notice it when I was running just when I tried to get down on the floor to stretch afterwards. Has anyone ever experienced anything like that?

OMG... just got out the credit card to sign up before it was too late and saw it was sold out. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Is anyone traveling by themself? Could not get my friends to sign up so I would really like to make a new friend or two while I'm out there!

I am. This is a solo trip for me

Well, we did it!! Last Wednesday my husband and I signed up to do the Wine and Dine half marathon. Our friend ran the Princess Half Marathon in February and convinced us and her husband to sign up for this. Looking forward to this challenge.
