The refurb's cabins are already at 2600? I was hoping to get an "oldie" when I arrive late Nov. p.s. Hi I am new here. Have been going to the Fort since the late 70's. I rode the train, swam in the brain eating ameoba water of River Country & loved it. Camped in tents/RV's and the Cabins. I have visited other resorts in the bubble but the Fort is always "home".

We're waiting for Illuminations to start up. Been a good day. F&W has been great. We even went over to The Boardwalk and toured with all "the rich People".

Two little 'cuties' there tiggerdad!! Thanks for the photo memories of the Fort railroad!! We road that a few times with our two oldest - was the greatest, and we were very sad when it was removed. The campground was 'much' smaller, quieter, and more remote (seeming) in the 70's.

Made it to MK this morning via the Contemporary boat at 0700.


Always nice to have the park to yourself, or at least only a few others.

The girls had their makeover at the BBB after we told them we were just there early to make ropedrop. We came back to the campground about 1300 to eat and rest a bit. Had to come back via the Contemporary Resort. The water bridge was down for some kind of maintenance so there was no direct boat from MK to FW or to the WL. No big deal. It was just the 4 of us on the boat.

I am now cooking and plan to take a nap before heading back to the MK for the Halloween Party. We'll be late tonight, but tomorrow is Fort Day. So hopefully lots of pics. Here is the current menu, deer steak wrapped in bacon and cream cheese.

I guess I should have paid attention to other posts. We went to MK today, via Contemporary. Didn't realize that the ferry from FW to MK was shut down! We walked to MK...it's an easy walk, we did it a few years ago when we stayed at the Contemporary. On the way back, we actually caught a bus back. That was nice. Although my DD said we probably could have walked back to the Contemporary and caught a launch there in the same time frame. Oh well...it was fun, great bus driver who was full of Disney Trivia. Getting ready to head back to EPCOT for a round of F&W before we pack up and leave for the beach tomorrow!

Our trip isn't even over with and we have decided to make our next reservation for the Fort. The original plan was to come down twice next year, the month of March and then two weeks again in Oct. After talking at the campsite we decided on one trip. Our new reservation for next year are: Oct. 24 - Nov. 5 in a full hookup site again. DW and I love the 1600 loop. This will also be "little Medic's" first T-O-T at the Fort.

Today was a much needed rest day after tackling AK yesterday. A day at Downtown Disney and dinner at 'Ohana's. It is going to be an early night MK tomorrow.

Arielsfanmom, that your rig with the red, white, and blue rope light around it? Been by a few times but nobody seemed to be stirring. Also, put that "feet on the rail" pick on the Kickin it at the Fort" thread too. Pictures look great.

It's the middle of the week, and you know what that means! That's right, its "Sandpaper a bobcat's rearend day"!
I got my sandpaper boys and girls, do you have yours?

In other news, today is down day from the parks. Let the wife and kids sleep in. I got up and went out early to get some pictures.

I had given my corn to the last inspector, so I bribed this one with an acorn off the ground. Little guy readily took it but still was giving me "the evil eye"

He'll slip in silently like a ninja in the night.

He is invisible, a whisp of smoke, a wrinkle in the space-time continuum.

He hates to draw attention to himself.

His approach is subtle, low key ...

Ed, you were right. One minute I was sitting there all by myself and I noticed the area around my camper suddenly became much brighter, and I could have sworn I heard opera singers, and...then...he was there. He also had with him...a bag...on wheels...that produced all assorted types of drinks. It had wine glasses in it, forks, knives, bottle openers, wide screen television (that only picked up Big Ten games) and he had eye glasses that made everything around him go dimmer.

He is a master of manipulation. My children, who usually don't gravitate to my guests, were drawn to him like a magnet. He produced toys for both of them, and then cookies (not the cheap stuff you pick up at Wal Mart). My oldest grabbed the chair right next to him and listened to his every word.

We did talk football, the Fort, weather, squirrels, Halloween, Disney restaurants, calculus, golf carts, DVC, astrophysics, nuclear engineering, redneck food, accents, other Disney guests, the Disboards, BamaEd, trains, flying, continental drifts, the theory of Atlantis, bigfoot, BamaEd (again), rustic camping, how to get good seats for Illuminations (using the wildlife), the Grand Floridian, BamaEd (kept coming up), how he raised and trained The Kraken, and retirement.

Alas, my moment of glory was over as he had other things to attend to so he departed (much to my childrens' dismay).

It was great meeting you Scupper, glad we could finally get together. It was good conversation and cookies...uh...I mean IBC Rootbeer...doh...I mean IT WAS ANOTHER GREAT MEETING.
