~*~*~The Oct 2014 waiting patiently (or not so) for a discount thread ~*~*~

Thank you for the link :thumbsup2 . These discounts will probably be until the end of September. The October discounts do not usually come out until the summer.

Does anyone know if I'm arriving in September but staying into October, would a discount ending Sept. 30th only be good for my September dates, or would it apply to my entire stay?

Your right but hoping Disney will send some end of the year PIN's around the same time:) Also some of us checking in the last day of Sept hope free dining will fall into our dates.

Discounts on rooms would not, discounts like free dining would.

One more family for October! REALLY counting on FD ... planning to stay at CBR from 10/17 - 10/26 but, if we have to pay for dining, that may change. Glad to see this thread ... I'll be keeping up.

Check out Expedia UK site. Special rates available through Monday for US residents, too. I got CSR Oct 4-11 for $133 a night before tax. There is a long thread on the Budget Board! :). AKL was $215.

Does anyone know if you only have your room booked (RR) and you get your tickets through Undercover Tourist and FD or the RO discount comes out are you still eligible or do you need to have a package booked to get the dicounts? :confused3

I'm trying to determine if I should get my tickets at UT and save money but I don't want to risk not being eligible for the RO or FD if it comes out end of Oct. Thanks for your help!! :flower3:

you need to have a package including tickets booked with Disney in order to be eligible for FD; usually a minimum of 2 day tickets.

no tickets are needed to book a RO discount

Thanks :) I guess I'll hang on to my tickets and wait it out! popcorn::

I really want the RO discount but am not willing to change resorts and would go for the FD if it comes out and my GV YC room was not eligible. Thanks again for your help :goodvibes

you could hold on to the 2 day tix from Disney and use them for future trip. We only go ever 3-4 years so paying for something that I am not going to use for years is just not a good financial option for me.

I have 5 day PH tickets already booked with my room rez, so I have a package. If/when the discounts come out as long as it's far enough in advance I can decide if I want to keep them depending upon which discount I can get :cool1:

I'm sorry I didn't read every post. Sorry if this was answered already. In order to get the DDP if it's offered for free, I would need to book a Moderate resort?

Moderates and Deluxes have always got the regular dining plan, while Values got the quick service plan. You are also allowed to pay the difference to upgrade quick service to the regular plan as well.

So yes, all resort levels get it, just not the same version.

I called today to change my resort reservation and the CM asked if there was anything else he could do for me and I said, 'Yeah, get them to renew the military discount.' He immediately said, 'Oh they are.' He didn't know when but said in the next few months. I know that I should take it with a grain of salt, but I so want to be able to use the discount. It will save us over $1000!

If you plan on staying at a Value then you will get the quick service ddp for free, however you can pay to upgrade to the basic ddp. If you want the basic ddp then I would stay at a moderate. The price difference between staying at a value & paying to upgrade your ddp vs. staying at a moderate to get the ddp is only $100 or so dollars.

I think we may have to travel close to columbus day, and I am trying to estimate approx when discounts are likely.

Also if anyone knows approx. how many days after columbus day the discounts kick in again, I would appreciate even an educated guess.

In 2012, we got a 30% RO discount for the week of Columbus day.

Not to hijack this thread, but we are booked Nov 1-7. I was thinking of moving our trip up a week because airfar seems cheaper, and....I dunno.....I want to get there sooner. I was thinking a Wednesday to a Wednesday. Anyone have any opinions? Thoughts? :confused3

Tuesday and Wednesday are the best days to fly, price wise. November 1-7th is Jersey Week @ WDW, which may be why costs are a little higher.

Advantages to the 11/1 - 11/7 week.

You can see the last MNSSHP (normally 11/1) and the first MVMCP (should be the 7th or 8th)

You get to see the decorations change over from fall to winter, including the lighting of Cinderella's Castle.

It really is a good week to go, but October is beautiful as well.

chalk us down to looking for oct discounts, particularly FD.

southwest opened flights to end of oct and too good to pass up for 5 people...

oct 19 - 27.
