Oh my God! My hubby and I are sitting here with our mouths open as tonight's season finale just ended with an absolutely sad ending - think death!

We can't believe that one of the main characters (don't want to say which one since some of you maybe haven't watched yet), has apparently died.

Be prepared for a very tragic ending, Tiger

Wow! I can't believe no one on here watches The OC since there are no replies.

I wasn't completely shocked. I had heard rumors she wanted out of the show, so I figured she might be the one to die. However it was very sad since they were making her try to get her life on track. I don't think the show will ever be the same again.

I'm sorta glad that person is gone. I was getting sick of the same old story line for them over and over and over again :confused3

Can someone please let me know who died? We used to be big fans of the OC, but this season just lost us. We watched one or two episodes and just wasn't interested anymore...it lost something.

I had read a spoiler on E! so I knew they were going to die. I'm actually suprised the show is even going to go another season, since there were rumors it wasn't going to. I read an interview with one of the creators and he said that theres only one good season left, so I think next season may be it. It was so good when it started and then it just go SO bizzare after they introduced the Lindsey/Ryan story line. I pretty much stopped watching after that.

I too can't believe they killed her off. My kids and I watched it last night and could not understand why they did this. I wish they just let her sail off into the sunset with her Dad, much nicer ending. We used to like the OC, but now it's a real downer. I want to tell the producers it's supposed to be ENTERTAINMENT, not make people depressed. It looks like they want the show to end next year because IMHO that's what's going to happen.

I'm really torn about this ending. Yeah, she annoyed me A LOT during the season and there were times that I wished that they would just write her off the show or kill her, but I was kind of okay with them Brenda'ing her (think 90210). With her dying, I really don't know what to think. They kind of left what will happen to everyone else up in the air. How can you have a major characters spread throughout the country and still have a decent show? I'm giving this a handful of episodes next season, but I think that Grey's Anatomy and Studio 60 may be placed above the O.C in the Tivo next year

I'm torn too. I didn't like the character but how depressing can you get? I mean really Ryan suffers yet another horrible tradedy that he will blame himself for. I would have loved to see a more resolved ending to the cliffhanger like help arriving, someone trying to save her and then Volcheck being arrested.

I knew she was out, I just wish they would have let her sail around the world with Jimmy rather than throw another tradedy on these kids. Now we get to see Ryan all brooding about her death on his conscience. Fun.

OK I watched last night and I have a question. She was driving when they left the pawn shop, how was Ryan driving when it happened?

The accident happened after the four of them (Ryan, Marissa, Seth & Summer) had snuck into the rebuilt model home that Ryan had accidentally burned down in the first season. Then Ryan took Marissa to the airport.

arrrggh! I hate when they kill off characters like this! I know it happens in real life, but c'mon! They killed off Johnny! How much sadness can these kids take? She was not my favorite character (I hated that she took up with Volchek!) But I think too, that she could have just joined her Dad. ugh - I may watch the season premiere next year, but that's it!

Yeah, we knew too that she wanted out, but killing her off is just plain stupid. I guess the characters will grieve for about one week and then all will be back to normal? Yeah, right! What a stupid ending - they should have just had her go off sailing with her dad. At this point, and as most of your replies show, people are desensitized to death, so what's the point of writing it into the show? Can't imagine how much longer this show can last - I have to imagine that now Seth and Summer won't go away to school, because they are devastated, and so this will take care of how they are going to have a successful season with half the characters split up.

Creator Josh Schwartz has taken over the reigns again, according to Entertainment Weekly. Taylor and Kaitin are joining the cast full-time. Sandy and Kirsten won't vanish from plotlines and the show is going back to the "funnier, quirkier qualities" of the first two seasons.
