The November 2015 Open Pre and Live Trip Reports

Friday we got up early, did our morning ride, then came back and made Mickey pancakes & bacon, then headed to Epcot for Food and Wine. We always do F&W early so we miss all those that enjoy too much wine and not enough food, lol. Also, when you go early, there are no lines for the food.

This is a chocolate "Up" house. Being that it was the last weekend, it has started to melt.

We also did the movie under the stars, ate dinner at Trails End and did lots of "looping". There was a mix of decorations at the sites. Just a couple Halloween left, a few Thanksgiving/Fall and more than I expected of Christmas.
We will be going back in December for four days after Christmas. Have a full hook site booked. We will not be doing any parks, so we are looking forward to doing more around the Fort. We want to do the hay ride, horseback riding and canoeing. Will post another report after that trip.

tltay2005, yeah we had lots of fun getting in. I was surprised it was not louder last night. The Fort is crowded very few empty sites. We enjoyed sitting out saniizing our water system.

Wow Kris, there is a joke in there about living life on the edge but I am trying to restrain myself.

After that it was time for our run. DH is training for the half and me the full. Well I was supposed to do 9 miles, but I have terrible luck for those of you who know me. I managed to fall at mile 6.2 or so. Basically the sidewalk was uneven and I did not pick up my foot. I fell. Not near as bad as last year. Nothing is sprained, but I landed on my side. I knocked the wind out of me. Now that chest wall hurts, I know I did not break a rib, its not that painful. Needless to say I am a little slow today.

Sorry about your fall. My old running buddy had that happen to him once. We were on a sidewalk approaching a bridge with a sidewalk and one minute he was off my right elbow, the next minute he was rolling on the ground with a broken collar bone. The point where the street sidewalk joined the bridge sidewalk was not smooth. Anyway, you gutted it through last year. Give yourself time to rest and recover.

Have a great stay at the Fort.

Wanted to share this with those of you here on the Camping Board too.

Tonight (11-15) while dining at Rose and Crown we were alerted that my 6yo DD had been chosen to start Illuminations. Apparently Mickey Mouse was running late on the Monorail and he called ahead to have them find my daughter to help out. They presented her with a crown and a certificate with her name etc. She was handed a magic wand that had a button on it to start the show. It was pretty awesome.

Jimsig,

That is absolutely cool as can be. It's things like this that still show Disney has some magic left.

That is awesome . So happy for your DD! These are the things you remember for a lifetime.

Sunday 11/15
We started with be our guest at MK bright and early. We took the resort boat to the contemporary and walked to MK. That worked perfectly and we were in line by 7:45. After breakfast we did mine train and got in line for a short wait at Anna and Elsa- all before 9. Then we did small world, peter pan (fp), thunder mtn, splash, meet Ariel (fp), barnstormer. Headed out of park around noon for lunch and swimming. In the evening we went to epcot and did club cool, via napoli, agent p mission then took the boat the DHS. We did Muppets and saw the lights. We got back to the Fort around 10. It was EMH at studios and it wasn't too crowded to see the lights. MK and epcot were super crowded but we still did lots. We are going to typhoon lagoon today and campfire tonight.

Yes Bama Ed we are a wild and crazy couple.

I am up early and did not sleep well last night. My hip got better as the day went on, but the ribs not so good. It was ok while walking around Epcot, but getting into bed not so good. We wont talk about getting up. My ribs are bruised, and my shoulder hurts from the splaying out of that fall. I have no actual bruises but i think i bruised a rib. I think I need to move and walk but getting in and out of chairs and bed SUCKS.

The plan for today is Epcot, last day of food and wine. Am sure we will go but wont stay incredibly long. I think I wont run today, which was the plan all along. Now i am supposed to run tomorrow but dont think that will happen either.

Pluto670 stopped by yesterday while we were outside. It was great to meet you.

Jimsig, awesome about your daughter. We even managed to stay at Epcsot last night to see Illuminiations.

Loving all the pictures. JETS70 I hope you made it home safely. Just wanted to share some news. We came home with two days left on our tickets. While there I had procrastinated about upgrading to APs but both times I had tried to inquire the lines were very long. So sitting at home Friday afternoon I mentioned to the wife I hated giving the Mouse money he didn't earn and I felt like a road trip. We'll three hours later we had a hotel booked and were on the road to Kissimmee. My plan was to use the last two days if we didn't upgrade. We'll I'm happy to say we are now AP holders. Hopefully we can find ways to go now and not spend a fortune.

Ours blew off the first day, but we found it in a tree. After that we weighted it down. Yours might have blown off and someone thought it was trash, so sorry, hope you had a spare.

Forgot to mention in my report that we got to try out our emergency exit...not to get out, but to get in! I must not have unlocked the door all the way and it locked itself when i shut it. Then we broke off the bolt on the leveling jack as we were packing up to leave. DH had tools to do a temp fix job to get us home. Trip to CW in order for this weekend.

Jimsig,
Thanks for sharing that great experience at Rose & Crown. Something your daughter (and your family) won't easily forget. By the way, that magic wand with button that she used to start Illuminations ..... could it have been about the same time the NE Patriots won the game last night? Enjoy the pixie dust.

So glad your daughter got to have that experience!

We are leaving on FRIDAY! We booked night at Art of Animation so we can check in to the Fort nice and early on Saturday. If everybody could send me 1500 loop vibes, that would be awesome. :tinker:

Now I've got to do a bunch of shopping and figure out what kind of clothes to bring. It's supposed to still be in the high 70s and 80s next week, I think! I will try to post a bunch of photos when we get there...it's been super fun to see everybody else's.

Just wanted to say that the DW and I made it home about 3:00 am this morning. We were going to break the trip into 2 days but decided last minute to drive straight through. All was well until we were on I 64 at Huntington WVA and we had a blowout. This is about 15 miles from home. The good Lord was looking out for us as I was 100 yards from the exit that had a Superamerica with a large parking lot where I could change the tire. Other than that......all went well. Kinda bittersweet, good to be home and see family after 18 days but as we all know......now comes as Bama Ed says "The vacation hangover" I had a great time sharing pictures with everyone and the DW and I hope that all who are there now and coming into the Fort soon have a great and safe trip.
