The NOT SO SUNNY Flordia DR- COMPLETE

I'm still hanging in there with ya ; ) Your meal looks great. I don't think I've read a single bad review of trails end lately. Definitely gonna have to cruise that way some day.

Thanks Kari:) The great reviews of Trail's End were why we decided to try it. Hoping to try lunch the next time we stay at the Wilderness Lodge or the Contemporary.

We are going to try the trails end buffet for sure..

Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.:thumbsup2

Wow that is a great price and the food looks amazing!

In the runner up spot for our best meal of the trip is...

OHANA DINNER

I admit that it had been about 4 years since we had dined at Ohana for dinner. And while we enjoyed it then I wasn't wanting to go back due to the changes that had been made to the menu. I loved the honey lime dressing that used to be on the salad and was sure I would miss the chicken as a meat option. But Brian requested this one the last couple of trips and the tightwad in me decided we should go before Brianna becomes an "adult" according to Disney dining.

Once again it was super easy to get to restaurants from the WL. We boated to the Contemporary and then took the monorail, but I think it would have been even easier to boat to MK and then monorail or boat to the Polynesian.

I got to say the lobby of the Polynesian is quite the mess. Can't wait to see how good it looks when it all gets finished.

This loaf of bread traveled with us to our table as we sat down. It has a sweet taste, maybe pineapple is baked in it? It was good, but I knew I needed to pace myself.

The next course was this salad. This didn't even compare to the goodness of the previous Ohana salad and I think I've read that it's not served anymore. Brianna picked the passion fruit out of it and enjoyed that at least.

Next was this lettuce wrap. I really loved this. When we eat out, I like to have things that I wouldn't or couldn't make at home and this definitely qualified. It was crunchy and fresh.

IMG_0252 by Smiling Cheshire Cat, on Flickr

Delivered next were these pork fried dumplings. I must say these are worth the trip, Crispy and delicious!

IMG_0253 by Smiling Cheshire Cat, on Flickr

This bowl of broccoli, noodles, and chicken wings came next. The winner of this trio was definitely the noodles. I love their flavor. I don't eat chicken wings, but Brian liked them. And Brianna ate a fair share of the broccoli.

IMG_0255 by Smiling Cheshire Cat, on Flickr

These dipping sauces were sat on the table for the meat.

IMG_0251 by Smiling Cheshire Cat, on Flickr

Finally it was time for the meat. Pork was delivered first and it was my favorite. It was flavored and juicy, not dried out at all which can happen easily to pork.

IMG_0254 by Smiling Cheshire Cat, on Flickr

Next is a picture of my plate with the steak and shrimp. The steak was good, but my pieces had some inconsistency. Some were well done and others pink like I like them. I guess it depends on how close the meat is to the flame. And the shrimp was good too, and happened to be the only meat we decided to get seconds.

Brianna tried most everything that was brought to the table, but claimed she was still hungry and wanted something different. Our server overheard this and offered to bring her any bevy of choice that kids might like from mac and cheese to a hamburger. Brianna said she really only wanted French fries and I caved and let her have them since she had tried everything.

She was also given this kids dessert, which was an iced brownie with m&m's. I was pleased with the options Ohana had for kids.

Brianna decided to partipate in the sing along. She's in there somewhere.

IMG_0259 by Smiling Cheshire Cat, on Flickr

While she was doing that, we indulged in the bread pudding. My goodness this was so good! I just wish I would have gotten a picture of the hot caramel sauce that we poured on top of it. Just delicious and definitely my favorite dessert of this trip.

Brianna had a good time learning to hula dance and loved the lei. I think she enjoyed her meal at Ohana.

Here's our receipt, even though I considered it pricey we enjoyed it very much and will come back. Probably when Brianna is old enough for me to justify the cost of an adult meal for her.:lmao:

Your ohana meal looks great. I'd kill for some of the bread and/or break pudding right about now. And how nice of them to offer different options for your daughter. It's been much longer since I've been away (like 15 years) but not because if wasn't good, something else just always wins out. One of these days I will be back...

Great reviews... We are going next summer in June.. Hope the rain stays away but it always rains when we go in June!

We were so pleased with the price and taste of the food at Trail's End. The only inconvenience for us is getting there since we usually don't have a car at WDW.

The bread pudding was just wonderful, would love to be eating that tonight.

This was our first June trip and I believe in my many trips to WDW it was the wettest. Of the 9 days we were there, 2 of them had no rain. On the other days, it didn't just rain for a few minutes, but for most of the day.

Here's hoping for dryer days for your next June trip.pixiedust:

My last meal to review, and the one we considered the best was quite the surprise to us. We had eaten there just once before and thought it was ok but nothing special. So our winner for this trip was...

TONY'S

We checked in at Tony's on our last night at WDW. The lobby was pretty busy with lots of other waiting diners. We got into a conversation with this nice young man who was also from back home in East Tennessee.

I got the kids to pose for one last picture as well.

IMG_0388 by Smiling Cheshire Cat, on Flickr

After a short wait we were seated at our table. We had great service from Blake. Here's the bread and oil for us to try. We enjoyed this so much we had seconds.

IMG_0390 by Smiling Cheshire Cat, on Flickr

The boys knew exactly what they wanted to order. Brian chose the chicken parmesan.

Wow, this was a big portion. Brian said this was very good.

IMG_0392 by Smiling Cheshire Cat, on Flickr

Chase loves alfredo so I knew he could also order the chicken parmesan with alfredo. He likes his pasta drenched in sauce so Blake brought him some extra alfredo. He loved this and once again what a big portion.

IMG_0393 by Smiling Cheshire Cat, on Flickr

Brianna just wanted buttered noodles. Blake said the kitchen could get her a child's spaghetti no meatballs. I was pleasantly surprised to see I was charged about $2 less for her meal since she didn't get the meat and was also pleased that she cleaned her plate.

But the star of this meal had to be my entrée, the seasonal ravioli, which was chicken mushroom.

IMG_0391 by Smiling Cheshire Cat, on Flickr

This meal is the one I'm still thinking about 4 months later. It was creamy deliciousness!

Brian chose the hazelnut chocolate cake for dessert. He said this was good, but very dark chocolate.

IMG_0397 by Smiling Cheshire Cat, on Flickr

Chase wanted the pistachio crème brulee. Here it is as delivered. There were even pistachios in the biscotti.

IMG_0398 by Smiling Cheshire Cat, on Flickr

And here's the middle of it. It really was green!

IMG_0399 by Smiling Cheshire Cat, on Flickr

This was a winner for him since he loves pistachios and crème brulee.

Brianna got this kids sundae with her kids meal.

IMG_0396 by Smiling Cheshire Cat, on Flickr

I was too full for dessert, but full and happy with my ravioli.

Here's a copy of my receipt, saving another $16.24 with my TIW card, which is sadly now expired.

Looking forward to heading back to Tony's in the future!

It is so nice to see a positive review of Tonys. My friend and I had a wonderful lunch there a few years ago and thought the food was quite tasty. All your food looks delicious!

Oh I'm so glad to read about Tony's! It's one that I think my husband would like, but I had read so many negative reviews. I am one that really does hate Olive Garden and similar places, but that food really did look good! Maybe we'll give it a try!

The chicken mushroom ravioli was awesome. The best dish I ate my whole trip. The boys chicken parmesan and alfredos did remind me of Olive Garden, but they really enjoyed them. :goodvibes

Wonderful reviews! Thank you so much! We stay at Fort Wilderness regularly but have never made it over to Wilderness Lodge. We will have to change that!

Thanks for reading! I had never ventured over to Fort Wilderness before this trip and was impressed with how peaceful and fun it looked.

Wilderness Lodge was awesome and we look forward to staying there again soon.
