The Non-Catchy Title PTR

I'm subbing. popcorn:: As everyone has said, you have a beautiful family. :)

We will also be at Disney in September. I think it's the perfect time to go.

We love Tusker House. For us, it has only one down side and that is the noise. It is incredibly noisey in there.

I can't wait to hear more about your plans.

Where did you get the disney shrinky dinks?....I've never seen those!

We are also heading back to disney in August for FD! We always go at the end of August, b/c DH is a teacher (we live on Long Island) and teaches summer school, which doesn't get out until around 8/19. Then we don't start back at school until after Labor Day, so we usually drive down to Florida at the end of august and FD works out awesome! It is hot, but I don't mind the heat!

We are also staying at CBR this year, which we've never stayed at! I was nervous as well, b/c we've only stayed at either the Poly, or twice at Riverside. I loved Riverside, but wanted to try something new, and the theming at CBR looked pretty. My mom is meeting us down there, so we are doing two rooms and I am going to request the Jamaica building as well. We drive down there though, so we usually use our car to get to the parks, not the buses. I will let you know what we think of the resort!

My older son read all of the Kingdom Keeper books, in fact, he just finished the third one. They are good! How did your kids enjoy the bio on Walt?

Looking forward to reading more of your pre-trippie!

Those were not Disney Shrinky-Dinks, but just plain paper Shrinky-Dinks where you can draw your own picture on them. We just drew a lot of Disney ones. It was my 1st time doing Shrinky-Dinks, I thought they turned out cute!
I can't wait to hear what you have to say about CBR. You said that you've stayed at the Poly before, that is my dream resort that I would LOVE to stay at one day!
My kids did enjoy the Walt Disney bio. It was in the 'Young Reader' section of the library, so it was a easy read chapter book. I think I want to read to Kingdom Keeper books too. Right now I'm reading the Twilight series for like the 3rd time!!!

I was going to say the same thing! You all look like you just walked out of a movie or magazine! What a beautiful family!

Thanks annegirl!

I'm Joining in, we will be at ASM sept 19th-28th. I have never been in september. Hoping the crowds will be less and worth me taking kids out of school. (DH's idea) Enjoying your report!

We will be there the same time! I think going in Sept will definitely be worth taking your kids out of school. We went 2 years ago during Sept. & I took our twins (in 2nd grade at the time) out of school for a week. I thought if I was going to spend that much money, I wanted to go when it would not be crowded & no long lines & FREE DINING. We loved it! There were no long lines, but it was still VERY hot. Our teacher was fine with it. I'm hoping the teacher they get this year will also be fine with it.
What grade will your kids be in?

I am taking my son out during that time as well, I hope the school does not get upset. I am making him do a journal of his trip. As well as any homeowrk given. How old are your kids?

We will be taking our kids out of school for a week too. When we took our kids out for a week two years ago, the teacher gave us all the lessons & HW assignments they would be missing before we left. We worked on it on the way down & back from WDW. They did not get behind at all. I think they only had to make up a couple of test. My kids are usually never sick & don't miss days, so missing the one week did not hurt their attendance. Hopefully they will not get sick this year!

Thanks OhioDisneyLover! I think going in Sept is the perfect time too! Thanks for letting me know about TH, I think that's where we will eat.

Just got back from our mini-trip to Atlanta & had a great time together.
We went to Six Flags & Stone Mountain. We were supposed to go to GA aquarium, but that didn't work out.

Six Flags was o.k. The bad thing about after you have been to WDW is that other parks do not even compare. It's been 25 yrs since the last time I went to Six Flags & I could wait 25 more years to go back.

I LOVE Stone Mountain! This is already the 2nd time that I've been this year. If you've never been, you should definitely go!

Autograph Scrapbook

I saw your pic of stone mountain, it brought back memories. When I was a kid we drove every other year to Florida from NY to visit my grandparents. We stopped there one year on the way down to FL. I had forgotten it until I saw the photo! Thanks for sharing!:goodvibes

Today the kids & I made shrinky-dinks. Flexible plastic sheets that you draw on & when you heat them in the oven they shrink to VERY SMALL hard plastic. We made Disney tags out of our shrinky dinks. Lexi & Levi are putting some on their bookbag & some on our backpack that we're carrying to the WDW parks.
I've posted pictures of our Disney ones. We also made Spongebob
& other misc characters.

These are very cute!

I made a autograph scrapbook from our last trip. I know most people like to scrapbook, but I do not enjoy it at all. It's just too time consuming for me. I thought by just doing a autograph scrap book it would not take long, but I was wrong.:rotfl: It would have been easier if I only made one book. But I made a book for each child to have and I wanted each book to look different.

On this trip I thought I would just buy the regular autograph books at the resort gift shop once we arrive and not even worry about them getting autographs. But this week I've started thinking that it would be nice to add the character's autographs to their scrapbook that they did not get on the last trip.

Are 10 year olds even interested in getting autographs anymore?

I've posted just a few pages from Lexi & Levi's autograph scrapbook. I made a page for each character & it did turn out pretty cute. All the stickers are dimensional, but it doesn't show well in the pictures

Very nice! DW did a autograph scrapbook back for our 2007 trip, but I can't see devoting that much time to something that just sits on a shelf. I do "electronic scrapbooks" where I take the pictures and "flip through" them on a DVD set to music (sometimes Disney music, sometimes not). I personally enjoy this more...but it might be man vs woman mindset. (Simplified, woman appreciate the form more and men appreciate the function.)

As far as whether 10 year-old's want autographs...I think it totally depends on the child. I know while we don't wait in long lines for autographs, and I had never done them as a child, we've always done it since my first adult trip at 27. If your going to go through the trouble to meet the characters, then you might as well get the signatures. We try to mix up how we do it. In 2007/2008 we had a set of 12 princess books, and got as many autographed as possible. (A couple of the books the characters don't M&G.) Last december, we brought a T-shirt, and had the characters sign that instead of an autograph book. The T-shirt was a little tough - you have to stretch it out to have them sign it, but DMIL got a canvas bag at DTD and was having all the characters sign that. I haven't figure'd how we're going to do it this year, but I find that doing something more unique than just an autograph book makes the character interaction better. I am thinking of going back to the "book" idea. We have a hardcover Disney Storybook that has TONS of character stories in it...it might be fun to get the autographs directly in there.

I think that sounds really cute.
Thanks for the ideas!

Wondering if you drive or fly, we are going to be driving, for us it's about a 9 hour drive from NC, it's not too bad.

.

We had the same thoughts about paying so much for a trip and being able to enjoy it a little more, we had fun in april but things took so long, just waiting in lines. Free dining should be great, I have never used the dining plan before. My kids don't usually get sick to often either, My boys will be in 7th and 5th grade this year. school starts Aug 25th so they will be there a few weeks before we leave. Hoping everyone stays healthy! Wondering if you drive or fly, we are going to be driving, for us it's about a 9 hour drive from NC, it's not too bad.

You did a fabulous job on those autograph books!!

I used to scrap, but I found it was taking up too much time that I just didn't have and other things began to suffer. I collected all my stuff and gave it to my best friends daughter, she loves to scrap!!!

Jasmine wanted me to tell you that she thinks your children look like models out of a magazine....so cute!!!!

Thanks for visiting my PTR! Looks like we're both going in September of this year! I can't wait! You have such a beautiful family, and you do NOT look 40 at all!! I was amazed when you said your age, and I saw your picture, and I thought to myself, there is NO WAY she's almost 40, I thought you were 25!!
Your twins are sooo cute. They are the splitting image of your and your hubby! I have twin sisters who are younger than me. They are identical and very close. I've always envied the bond that twins have.
I think you will have a great time at CBR! The resort looks like a lot of fun. Did you reserve a pirate room or a regular room?
Love your ADRs! I have been to Biergarten, and CRT (dinner) before, and I am really lookg forward to Sci Fi too! I've also been hankering to try Garden Grill and Tuskers but I think we'll save that for next year as I dont' have any more free ADRs left to use!
The shrinky dink tags you made are cute! I remember making them as a kid. I didn't even know they still made them anymore, LOL. Cute autograph books as well! They look so professional!

Subbing and can't wait to hear more!

Hi Amy!

I hope you don't mind another reader...joining in, as I am going in September, for our anniversary (10 year) too!!!!:cool1: What are your dates? It's getting SO close!!!

Your family is just beautiful and I just have to say, I hope I look as fabulous as you when I turn 40!!

Can't wait to hear more!!!:goodvibes

Thinking of a creative title delayed me too! I like your solution, though!

Your twins are beautiful. I love that your daughter not only wore Minnie ears, but that she had braids with bows! My girls' hair is wavy right now; I imagine it will be curly like mine when they are older (it was curly when they were toddlers.) I nearly had daily fights with the one to pull hers into a pony tail. (It was 90 degrees and looking at her made me hot!)

In case you are still looking for dining input... We loved Yak and Yeti in AK and Teppan Edo in Epcot.

Loved the shrinky dinks - didn't know they still made them! Toy Story Mania reminded me of paint by numbers. I have to get them for my girls; I don't think they've ever had them.

My girls weren't interested in autographs (we do have books from our 2008 visit); they pose with characters only to keep me happy! They were very interested in pin trading though.

I am looking forward to reading more!

We will be driving, it is 8 hours for us from SC. I did not think it was bad the last time we drove. I like being able to take a LOT of stuff! My kids will be in the 5th grade too! I just posted on your thread.

Thanks Queen! The more I think about it, I am not going to do anymore scrapbooking autographs. :)
Tell Jasmine I said "Thank you!" :goodvibes

Me not looking 40??? What about you!!! I thought you were 25!!!!!
Thanks for the compliment about my twins. They are VERY tight & close with each other. I'm going to go back & look at your wedding picture again to see your twin sisters.
We booked a regular room at CBR.
Lexi & Levi wanted to go to Garden Grill again. They think it's cool that the restaurant turns around.

Princess, I'm glad you've joined! Thanks for the compliments & Happy 10th Anniversary! :flower3: We will be in WDW Sept 17th-24th.
I'm going to go over & read your PTR!

Love the autograph books!

thanks!

Thanks Debby! I can't wait to read & see the pictures from your trip. The hair is so much more difficult to deal with in FL too with the humidity. I have the opposite problem with Lexi. She puts her hair in a ponytail everyday & I want it down.
Glad to hear that your daughters were not interested in autographs. I hoping not to do that, one (or two) less things to carry. But, I do have to get the pictures with characters!!!

I've been away for several days & trying to get caught up on all the Threads that I've subscribed to! When you're off for a while, that takes a long time! I made myself take a vacation from Dis & Facebook for a couple of days to get a lot of projects done around the house. Then, we've been gone to the Lake. It was soooo hot at the lake! Temp over 100 degrees & the water temp was 96!!!!
I can't believe it's only 3 weeks before Lexi & Levi have to start back to school!:guilty: Where has our summer gone!?!:confused3

Lexi is calling me & wants me to watch the new Hannah Montana episode with her. Guess I will not get caught up on here tonight!

I love your autograph books . :thumbsup2 You did an awesome job on them.

My niece and nephew were still collecting some autographs at 10, but they were quite picky about what they'd wait in line for. ;)

Hey there! Officially subbing to your PTR!

I can't wait to hear about your experience with CBR. We used to go when I was a kid, so it was a long time ago, but we *loved* it! Yes, it is spread out, but it's just so pretty and so much more relaxed than a Value resort. Don't get me wrong, we usually stay Value and enjoy ourselves! However, CBR is going to make you feel more like you're on vacation :).
