Since I have been pouring over the Disney Dining Review Board here the past few days..dreaming of Disney food with only 12 short days to go..:cheer2: I thought to myself...self: You ate at some pretty good places in June, why don't you share your thoughts and opinions??
Well I replied to myself...gee I don't know, I don't have very many pics of food.....and I know these people LOVE some food pics.
Self replied: Well it sure beats cleaning doesn't it??
I replied: Ok, you win!
Yes I do frequently talk to myself and find it perfectly acceptable ;)

Ok so our June trip was for 7 nights, we were a group of 10. My family consisted of Myself, DH (so not a disney lover:confused: ) DD7, and we brought my cousin, 13.
Our travelling partners consisted of my friend, her husband, and their 4 kids ages 16, 11, 8, and 5!! They stayed offsite, we were at Port Of Orleans Riverside with the dining plan. My main worry was all the expensive food and their budget, but we looked over menus and prices at allears and they were in agreement with all choices, they said when they were at Disney before thats how they normally ate anyhow, CS for lunch and TS for dinner.
Now I can not possible remember what everyone ate at this point, but I definetly remember what I ate!
This was both families second trip to WDW, the first trip for DCousin.

Some of our dining choices included:
Counter Service:
Columbia Harbour House
Sunshine Seasons
Flame Tree
Pecos Bills
Riverside Mill

Table Service:
Ohana's
Liberty Tree Tavern
Whispering Canyon Cafe
Sci-Fi
Mama Melroses
1900 Park Fare
Hoop Dee Doo

Ok now I know this restaraunt gets a lot of bad reviews for "not being as good as it used to" but this was our first time here, so I have nothing to compare it to.
We arrived about 15 minutes before our scheduled ADR and informed the hostess that instead of a party of 10, it would be 4. After almost a 21 hour car trip, they wanted to stay at their resort, rest and check things out there. They were more than happy to make the change. and said our wait would be about 20 minutes.
We were seated in 5. We had a table toward the back or side (trying to remember the layout) and we were right by a window, we could somewhat see the castle. Kind of away from all the "action" and had a hard time hearing what was going on, we did catch the coconut race announcement, so DD was able to participate in that. We thought the atmosphere (and the Poly) were wonderful!
Onto the food!
I did order the LAPU LAPU after hearing so much about it, and quite frankly wanted to drink something out of a pineapple :thumbsup2 lol! Boy for a lightweight like me, this drink was STRONG. I only drank about half of it.
The starters of the shrimp, salad, wonton chips, and chicken wings came out. I don't eat fish or seafood, but DH and DD ate the shrimp and thought it was good. We all loved the salad, I was worried about all these "funky" salad dressings because basically I am kind of a French Dressing girl, maybe ranch on a rare occasion. But anyway, I thought the salad was delish! The dressing was just the right amount, it was very flavorful!! I also tried the Wonton chips but the only dressing I liked was the peanut sauce. Dh likes things spicy so I think it was the chimchurri sauce he liked? DD and DCousin didn't like any of these. We all really loved the chicken wings, especially DD which suprised me since she claims to not like chicken :confused3
Next up came the maui scalloped potatoes and the stir fry vegetables. No one ate their veggies :rolleyes1 but thats ok since we al ate salad lol. They didn't look very appetizing, besides DH, DC and I were LOVING the maui potatoes!!! DD wouldn't try them and she won't eat them at home either. Plus they were coming around with the meat :woohoo:
I tried the steak, the pork loin, and the turkey. I opted off the sausage, I don't really care for any type of sausage. DH and DD liked it alot. I was really worried that the meats would be dry and have a charred type of flavor, but I was incredibly wrong. ALL the meats were very tender and full of flavor. I really thought the turkey especially would be dry, but like I said I was definetly wrong. I had seconds on the steak and the turkey. I think DH had seconds on all the meat.
Next up was the piece de resistance..the bread pudding a la mode with bananas foster sauce. Ok a little back track, we live in a very rural area of Illinois. Pop; 3000. I had never had bananas foster, it's sauce or had a clue what it is supposed to taste like. I had never tried bread pudding either. I mean come on, by the name alone it doesn't sound appetizing at all. Well after one bite I was in heaven   This was one of the best desserts I had ever ate. Why oh why did they wait til the end of the meal to serve this though?!?! I was so stuffed as it was and this was so delecious!! It was so good that I basically ate to the point of being seriously uncomfortable :sad2: it was that good. We all really loved this dessert, DD just ate the ice cream plain though. ( I have an ADR for here on our upcoming trip YAAY! I can't wait to go back!) We decided to go walk around a bit at MK to help feel a bit better..what a place for an after dinner walk!

Up next is Columbia Harbour House and Liberty Tree Tavern!!

I felt so silly taking pictures of my food. Just silly! But I knew it was for the DIS! Next time I think I will even feel a bit less silly and take away!

You have a great start! Here's to eating at Ohana's in reverse!:rotfl:

I'm glad you talked yourself into this!:lmao:

Me too!!!!! :lmao:

Oh ya, a wonderful concept! Ohana's in reverse LOL! It will catch on everwhere and then everyone will have dessert first :rotfl2:

I plan on taking pics of our food on our upcoming trip! it won't be so hectic since it will just me, my mom, and DD....I see you are taking a mom/son trip too! I was really excited til just a couple of days ago, DD doesn't want to go. Ya can you believe that, a kid not wanting to go to Disney?!?!?!? She doesn't want to leave DH.

So onto CS on our Magic Kingdom day!
We had tried to eat at Columbia Harbour House on our trip last May after reading so many great reviews on the Dis and on Tour Guide Mike, but every time we went it was closed :headache:
This time we made it and it was defiently worth the wait!
Pretty much everyone in our party had fish and chicken, or some combination of them both. I think all the kids ate the Mac and Cheese. Everyone really liked everything. I had the Anchors Aweigh tuna sandwhich (1/2) with the bowl of vegetarian chili. I was nervous about the whole chili thing because I am pretty particular about my chili and what I like in it, but I was being brave and tried it anyhow ;) I REALLY liked it! I also don't normally eat tuna sandwhiches. All I can think of is the ones they make at the hospital I work at and it looks like a bunch of messy mayo. :scared: But like I said, I had read so many good reviews that I knew all the Dis'ers couldn't be wrong, so I tried it anyway and it was delecious!!! It wasn't mushy or too mayo-y (ya I know it's not a real word) it was the perfect amount of all ingredients and plenty of tuna! The bread was excellent and soft. Some chose the chocolate cake while others chose the apple crisp and all agreed the choclate cake was way better. The apple crisp could have used some ice cream or something because it was very dry.

After breaking for a while, we all met up for diner at Liberty Tree Tavern. With such a large group of people and so many of them being kids, I really didn't think we would be able to miss with this restaraunt. The food seemed to be of pretty traditional fare.
Here is the menu from AllEars:
DECLARATION SALAD - Tossed Mixed Greens, served with our special Tavern Strawberry Vinaigrette Dressing

PATRIOT'S PLATTER - A generous serving of roasted turkey breast, carved beef, and smoked pork loin, with mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, herb bread stuffing, and Stouffer's Macaroni and Cheese.

Bottled Water (Still or Sparkling) $3.25
Cappuccino $3.69
Espresso $3.19
Fresh Orange Juice $2.29

DESSERTS - Warm apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream included.

Well as in earlier at Ohana's, I was worried about this "funky" dressing on the salad, and I didn't need to be, it rocked!!!! They also served rolls whcih were really good, I prefered mine dipped in a little of the gravy. :rolleyes1 The main course we also felt was really wonderful, the meats were all tender and juicy. The green beans were crisp and not mushy, the potatoes were great, and the kids all ate the Mac and Cheese (along with other things) The dessert was great too! Not as good as Ohanas but the apple crisp was warm making the ice cream all melty....mmmmmmm!
We had awesome character interaction seeing all the characters twice, exept for Minnie whom we seen once. The characters really gave the older boys a hard time, playing around with them, which is what I like to see lol!!
Here are a couple of the pics from the restaraunt, sorry no food pics!

Onour May of 2006 trip we had ate at Tusker House and LOVED it, but in June at lunch time we had just left Dino land and really didn't wnt to have to trek all the way across the park to get lunch...it was absolutely stinking hot!!! so we settled for the Flame Tree BBQ.

I had the BBQ pork sandwhich and gave DH the baked beans, payed OOP for the onion rings to have with it and I had the frozen lemonade for desert. Dh had the 1/2 chicken and wasn't too impressed with it, but it was a lot of food for him, esp with my baked beans. My sandwhich was really good, ate with a fork because it was impossible to pick up. It was much better after I added extra BBQ sauce to it, before that I remember it being kinda dry tasting. The onion rings were onion rings. Nothing special. I believe all the kids ate hotdogs off the kids menu, lol big shocker there. It was kinda chaotic in the ordering area and around the intial tables, but thanks to my readings on the Dis and on TGM, I knew to head around back and keep walking for a table near the water, it seemed like all those people crowded up there didn't even know all of this exsisted back here. Plus it felt about 15 degrees cooler back there with all the shade and a slight breeze. We were the only ones in the whole section so the kids were playing by the railing at the water looking for fishes and letting off some steam playing around more than they were eating, but we just chilled and let them play for a while. Until the end of our lunch we were seriously the only ones back there, so it wasn't a big deal..we would have certainly not let them behave that way if there were others around. All in all it was OK for a CS lunch, nothing too memorable and not as good as Tusker House..which will be :sad1: *sniff sniff* by the wayside soon as a table service. :guilty: Will we return, ya probably it was all edible and decent, filled us up, and was relaxing.
Back in a few with our review of Whispering Canyon!!!

Whispering Canyon!!!! WooHOO!:cheer2: I gotta tell you I was looking soooo forward to this because I soooo wanted to check out the Wilderness Lodge! And secretly I was hoping my husband would fall in love with it and take me to stay there sometime soon!!! *evil grin*

Yeah umm I don't think that is ever going to happen. DH doesn't exactly feel the disney love like I do. LOL. (BTW, if you want to know more about our family and our travelling partners, you can click on my pretrip report in my siggie, it has a really good introduction of everyone) But here is a pic of our whole vacation crew!!

This was our Father's Day Dinner. So we got checked in about 15 minutes early and were seated about 15 minutes past our ADR which was fine with us, the surroundings were wonderful and they were able to seat us all together.
Oh and by the way, I had told everyone it was a "fun" restaraunt; but that was it *evil grin* :rotfl:
So we sit down and our server just looks at us and sighs and says, "Well this is just going to be a lot of fun isn't it" real sarcastic like...and then goes so "What are you short people drinking" to the kids. For someone reason everyone had these shocked looks on their faces?!?!? :rotfl:
So after our drink orders are placed he just throws some straws on the table and says, "I'll bring your drinks when I feel like it" I thought my friend Jana was going to have a stroke! After he left she is like OMG this guy is such a jerk. I just was laughing and said it's all in the "fun" of it all. :rotfl: Our drinks of course were all brought in a very quick fashion!

Most the kids all had some form of shake , I had a some type of mango smoothie that was awesome! The kids were also shocked when he brought out our drinks.

I don't really recall what the kids ate, but none of them complained about anything, all of us more grown up folks got the skillet. And once again when faced with some kind of "funky" salad dressing, I greatly enjoyed it! :confused3 Who knew, but I guess that means I need to expand my taste buds more here at home. They brought out 3 of the skillets for us. I didn't eat the beans or the cornbread (because at this point I had never tried cornbread before and just knew I didn't like it lol) but everything else was delish!!!!! The guys especially loved it and they had to bring out another skillet for them. I thought all the food was good, nothing spectacular but real good. The men folk seemed to especially love the food and raved about it the rest of the vacation.
One of the kids ordered a cheeseburger and made the mistake of asking for Ketchup. The made him stand up on his chair (~Bryce age 8 the quietest kid ever~) and shout for ketchup. It was hilarious because the first time, we at the table could hardly hear him, asking very politely "May I have some ketchup please??" Then the waiter said no, you just have to yell at the top of your lungs--KETCHUP!! So he did and these poor people who were on their dessert plates looked very relieved to bring us about 15 bottles of ketchup lol. And believe me we were also wanting to get rid of our ketchup.
disney2007167.jpg

One of the boys dropped their fork, so the waiter brought over a huge--like 3 foot tall wooden fork --and told him maybe he would have better luck holding onto that one! LOL! Like I said the waiter had been giving the teenage boys a really hard time all night and kept saying something to the effect, "I have something special in plan for you two". Every time he went by the table. Well after we were finished eating he pulled them two up to the front of the restaraunt and made some big annoncement about how they were so good looking and do they have girl friends, etc well when they both said no they didn't have girlfriends he went and got these 2 other teen girls and brought them up front. They looked about just as mortified :rotfl2: he told them he thought everyone should find romance at disney and said he was going to give them a special dance together......he made then do the HOKEY POKEY!!! :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:
disney2007173.jpg

disney2007171.jpg

At some point they also did the horse races, which all the little kids really loved!
disney2007163.jpg

We ended up being so stuffed we took our dessert to go, We both got the apple caramel pie , it was really good, but I thought it would have been even better with the ice cream!

This place was wonderful, the food was good, the men especially loved the skillet so I am glad I picked it for Fathers Day, the atmosphere was fun, and even after all the character meals we did, this is the place that the kids still talk about!!!!

I never did catch our servers name so if you recognize him, let me know!!!!

Up next SCI-Fi Dine In Theater and Mama Melroses

Ok I don't have time to give a report yet on Sci-Fi and Mama Melroses, but it is in progress, I thought I would give you a run down on what are upcoming plans are to see what you think!

Trip Date 9/28-10/2 (short trip!)

9/28 Liberty Tree Tavern 4:15pm--before MNSSHP :goodvibes (arrival day)
9/30 Ohanas 5:30pm (AK day)
9/31 LeCellier 5:30pm (epcot, food and wine festival day)
10/1 Cinderellas Royal Table 8:05 am and Concourse Steak House 5:30pm (MK day)
10/2 MGM day, no TS scheduled depart at 5pm.

I am most looking forward to going back to Ohanas and also trying LeCellier for the first time. I am also pretty proud of getting that coveted 8am CRT ressie! I actually had two of them, but let one go after I got a handle on our official touring plan.
I am most worried about Concourse Steak House.. it doesn't seem to be one that people go crazy over or anything, earlier I actually tried to call and see if I could get back into Whispering Canyon, but the only ADR time was 9:10pm, way to late for us. I am also worried about not having room in our tummies for LeCellier after exploring the F&W festival!
Any feedback is appreciated!
