The night before Disney..

I always think I want to surprise my kids also, but I think it's too hard and too big to pull it off. I think a couple "other" surprises on the trip might be better than trying to pull off one big surprise trip.

Just MHO

What do you all do the night before your trip to Disney? I still have 6 more days and I can't sit still!! :rotfl:

I get the kids as high as me. DW gets annoyed though, but hey, we're going on holiday! In the morning before heading to the airport, it's become a bit of a tradition but I wake the kids up to "Remember the Magic" blaring through the house :cheer2: , which they find fantastic and gets them awake quickly without being grumpy!!

I am sorry I didn't explain fully, they are still going to see their dad but we recently moved to Nebraska and school gets out 2 weeks earlier than when we lived in Texas so they will still be going to see him the same timeframe. No I would never not let them go see him they would kill me seriously. Okay after reading i was thinking that maybe I should tell them so they can pick out the things they want to do. I just wanted to give them a great suprise, but I think telling them and maybe suprising them with a character meal will be a better idea. Thanks for the advice. :cool1:

Maybe you could surprise them a couple of weeks before you go... Have a nice little dinner or party and break the news then. That way you have the anticipation of how surprised they will be and they also get to do a little bit of the planning too. And no pouting cuz they aren't going to Dad's.

Great question!! I can tell you I don't sleep... I really want to, but just can't. have you seen the Disney Commercial... that's us! I drive my family insane with packing with Disney music blaring through the house. we talk about everything we are going to do... my vacation technically starts about a week before we leave... pre celebration!! :cheer2:

I teach 1st grade and we have Parent - Teacher conferences until 8:00 the 3 nights before I leave. Our plane leaves at 6:00 AM so hopefully I'll get some sleep. I'm like the family in the commericial also! A Disney trip = too excited to sleep! :hourglass

Well if you don't mind me borrowing that idea......I just love it. I have an old soundtrack of EPCOT (I think) my boys would get a kick out of it.

Have a magical day,
Anna

This time, we're flying on a red eye that leaves at 11pm and gets into Orlando at 7am! What this means, is that I have a whole day to figure out what to do with before we leave for the airport at 7pm. I'll probably pack (again) and get my nails done and repack and run to the store for stuff I think I'll need, but I really won't ever use and then repack again!

The flight is 5 hours long, so it's going to be a very short night for us.

A week before! lol mine starts as soon as I book the trip. My son and I made a construction paper chain to count down the days. After I found the Disboard, I went through all the pages of food and for those rest. we are going to I put the picts in a folder for my 16yo son to peruse. Perfect way to get him excited about the trip....through his stomach lol.

Have a magical day,
Anna

Before my trip in Dec. to WDW and to Karen's 3rd annual Dis Jellyrolls meet, I decided to write a poem and post it on the Dis :thumbsup2
Here it is:

The Night Before Disney

Twas the night before Disney, and all through the house
we’re all so excited, to go see the mouse,
The bags were all packed and stuffed in the car,
I hope the Turkey carcass will make it that far.
My dd was nestled all snug in her bed,
While visions of characters danced in her head,
And me with tequila, already poured,
Settled in for a quick snore
When it popped into my head, and I sprang to my feet
I must post a new message for Karen’s Jellyrolls meet
So away to "reply" I go, in a hurry.
Tequila’s kicking in, my brain’s getting blurry.
I nod off to sleep, before I can post
Dreaming of the place I love most.
When, what to my blurry eyes should appear,
But the Jellyrolls sign, and another “free beer”,
With Karen at the door, and John with my pin
I knew in a moment this must be a sin.
More rapid than eagles the disers they came,
They whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:
"Now, Scotty! now, Ray! now Pete and Jason!
Play On, Tommy! Play on, Michael and Christian!
And then, in a twinkling, I heard the song start
I knew all the words, when to dance at each part.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Up on stage, “You know who” came with a bound.
She was dressed all in green, from her head to her feet,
Her clothes were all glittery, she dressed for this meet.
She spoke not a word, but went straight to her work,
And did the banana dance; then turned with a jerk,
It startled me so, I woke in fright
It was 6am and I can’t miss my flight
I sprang to the car, pulled away from our house
And away we all flew to the land of the mouse
But I had to exclaim, as I drove out of sight,
"See you all at Jellyrolls next Friday night!"

Heh, it's really hard for me to fall asleep.

I may sound dorky, but that's ok cuz my fiance doesn't mind. I watch my favorite Disney movie(Aladdin) for sure, & usually by midnight I'm at asleep. By 4 am it's time to wake up & hit the road :moped:.

My kids last day of school is 18 May and we are on the first flight out of Omaha at 6:00am on 19 May. This is my little ones summer suprise and I am having a hard time keeping it contained myself. But I plan on packing all day while they are at school, in the summer time they go with Dad so they will think I have packed their clothes to leave with him, so in the morning my neighbor is gonna drive us to the airport and the plan is I flying down there and when we get off the plane suprise. They are already excited about getting on a plane for the first time so this will be even more of a suprise. My only worry is my DD8 and DD7 can read pretty well so boarding the plane to Orlando is one obstacle I have not thought of yet. LOL! But I am sure it will all work for the best. :rotfl:

I don't know if you will see this post, but, last year DH and I totally surprised DD and DS. They knew absolutely nothing about going to Disney, even up to going to airport. It wasn't until the flight attendant announced Orlando that DD knew what was going on. She watches enough Disney Channel to know where Disneyworld is, with that said, GOOD LUCK!

Anna - I have the track on mp3 as well if you like. I also have it on my iPod so I can play it in the car on the way to the airport. Kids are really up for it by the time they get to check-in. Massive grins on their faces whilst they're pulling their bag (Buzz and Pooh on wheels) to the desk!!

We "almost" always stay at the hotel connected to the airport. It a great way to get a jump start on the trip. We wake up and can walk out the door to the airport ready to go and well rested. When we get to Orlando we have most of the day to enjoy!

That's what we do too! Starts the vacation a "night earlier" and makes for a much less stressed morning to get to the airport! :thumbsup2
