Has anyone recently closed on resale dvc points? If so did it take exactly 2 weeks to be in the Disney system? Less? More? Also how will I know when I'm in the system and can phone up? Ive seen people mentioning a website? Where is that and what can you do on the website?

TIA for help

As to the website, that works if you have been a member and have purchased more points (as you'd already have access). On average, after closing it proably does take about 2 weeks. Your broker (assuming this was resale) should be able to tell you when you should be in Disney's system, and give you the number to call.

If you purchased from The Timeshare Store, Inc.®, at closing we sent you the information including the phone number to call Member Services and check on your membership.

Because of the volume of sales during January, February and March, Disney is behind in entering new membership information into their system. We are seeing 14 - 20 days for a new member to be in the system. Keep calling Member Services and if you are not in by day 20, give your broker a call.

Enjoy your membership. :thumbsup2

I was notified by Fidelity that my resale contract closed on May 2nd. The points showed up in my account last night, so about 1 week...

I was already an existing member. The website everyone is referring to is DVCMember.com. My first contract was purchased direct so included with my paperwork from Disney was an explanation about how to establish an account on this website. Your best bet (assuming you purchased resale) is to contact Member Services to check on your progress and have them help set you up on the DVCMember website.

PS: Just a heads-up... this is my 2nd resale contract. With both resale contracts we purchased, even though I was able to see that my contract had been posted online, it takes about 24 hours for the computer system to reflect the accurate number of points available to bank and borrow. The first time this happened I panicked thinking they had made an error - just keep an eye on things for about 24 hours once you see your contract in the system and it should straighten itself out.

Hmmm - I am liking the one week reply but not the 20 day reply. We are going to Disney in 2 weeks tomorrow and I wanted to be in the system by then. Do you think the one week was because there was an existing account with disney? Or is it possible it could be a week for newbies like us?

It's hard to say for sure how and when Disney will enter a new members info into their system. We heard from Disney late last week and at that time, there were 200 contracts that were waiting to be entered.

I hope yours is on the top of that stack of contracts. :confused3

FYI, we closed on a TSS resale contract on 4/19 and were in the system on 5/7. This was worse than waiting for ROFR! Good luck!

not to hijack your thread - but...

is there a certain time that contracts are loaded into the MS system? ie, if i call every morning when they open will that be sufficient, or is it better to call later in the day? would they perhaps load my membership at 2 pm one day and i would have missed it by calling in the am opposed to pm?

and - what are their hours of operation?

thanks.

So glad I saw this post. I just posted pretty much the same question above. Which resale company did you purchase from?

Just want to jump in and say I'm in the same boat. I have been calling MS everyday to see if I'm in the system...I got the e-mail we were closed on May 2.

I am glad I read this! They finally posted my contract on my account yesterday, and while it acknowledges that the contract is for 210 points it is saying that there are no points available! I keep checking back every few hours, and if it hasn't been fixed by tomorrow (48 hours) I will call!

We closed on 4/29. And we're in the system today, 5/14. I just made ressies for our early December birthdays. Naturally, I didn't get what I wanted, but at least we're in. The last time I had checked before today was yesterday (Friday) morning. If you're not in today, the people who do the membership updates don't come in again until Monday. GOOD LUCK!!!!

What kind of surprised me was our new member number (we bought OKW in '94, sold last month and just bought fewer points at BWV). Our old member number was 2415 xxxx xxxx. Our new one is 5876 xxxx xxxx. Lots of memberships in those years, huh??

On ours, when I opened the page, it didn't show any available either, but it was showing the 2010 use year. When I clicked the 2011, the points were there.

Thanks for all the replies- it does look like they are taking more than 2 weeks which is a big pity!!!! Perhaps they will speed up
Next week
