that's a bummer about your motion sickness. have you tried dramamine? you probably have, but i was just wondering. i got some last year when we went to epcot for the first time since i wanted to ride the orange side of mission space and wasn't sure how i'd handle it. i got the non-drowsy kind and it didn't make me groggy at all. and i didn't have a problem with mission space - but i don't get motion sickness that i know of. i just wanted to be safe and prevent getting sick on that ride if i could!

is starship the band that sang, "we built this city" in the '80's? i was born in '76 so i kinda remember, but i wasn't sure if that was them or not. if so, my little sister used to sing that song as a toddler and it was SO CUTE! pretty cool that you got to see them.

i can't believe that guy was seriously acting like he was gonna fight your DH. that's just hilarious - you're at WALT DISNEY WORLD.....FIGHTING!!!!! get a clue. or go have another beer so you'll pass out soon! i'm all for enjoying an adult beverage or two (or three ) but i know my limits.

Yes motion sickness sucks. I have used Dramamine before, doesn't really do much for me.

And YES that's the band. When they sang that song everyone went crazy! That was one of the songs that I did know. It was cool seeing them...the girl singer was AWESOME.

I didn't get the drunks either...and he got mad that my DH pushed him off me...he's the idiot that fell on top of someone. Even the family sitting down in front of us were mad. craziness! I have no problem w/drinking...DH and I enjoy it, but dang!

Great updates. Yay for the AP's!!!!! It's always a great feeling when you have an ap in your hand and know you could go to WDW anytime you want.

I'm SO excited about our passes! I cannot WAIT until our next trip, because we will have so much freedom w/them, instead of trying to get "our money's worth" from the tickets we did have, and stay all day long. Plus we're getting a few more trips out of these tickets than we expected!!!

Speaking of trips, yours is SOON!!!

Boy do I feel old. I know Starship at least their newer stuff. I was born in 1970 but they had a hit when I was in highschool (the song Punkin mentioned). Grrrr on the drunks, my DH would have been mad too. I absolutely hate when people curse in front of my kids to no end. Of course I do say something sometimes but I don't know if I would say something to people who obviously had too much to drink, they tend to get worse. Anyway great update. I haven't seen Illuminations since 2000 because the last time we were the kids were too tired by the time it came and my oldest son who was 5 at the time was afraid of fireworks, I know not a good thing being in Disney. Anyway next year will be great for all of the kids.

Oh and I don't know if you remembered but I told you we were staying at FW campgrounds next year, I just booked my site yesterday .

I did know some of their songs too, from when I was a kid. Yes my DH is not a violent person at all, but he gets very protective and the drunks were really making him mad. It just sucks seeing stuff like that at DISNEY! Yes Illuminations is great, you will love it!

And YAY for Ft. Wilderness! That is awesome, you will have SO MUCH FUN!

i LOVE jim shore pieces! i started my collected last april. so far i have tink (the one where the piece she's standing on says, "let your dreams blossom"), peter pan, captain hook/smee, wendy/john/michael (um...can you tell what my favorite movie is????) and i also bought a sorceror mickey one last september. i've got to get a christmas one when i go back next month! they're really cute and they're not outrageously expensive.

I LOVE Jim Shore. I've been eyeing his stuff, and ALMOST bought a few Halloween ones in Disney and regret it now. And I LOVE that they're not super expensive. I will probably get at least one more in December whiel we're there. I LOVE that Tinkerbell one!

I don't remember if I mentioned this yday or not, but we got our first "Mickey Monitor" in the mail yday (for AP holders) and I was SO EXCITED!!!! What a great bday present right? It's really the small things that make me happy. My parents came over last night and I got to show my mom my Countdown to Disney I have hanging on the fridge, she laughed at me. I need to post a picture of it...

Sunday October 5, 2008


I woke up this morning sad, naturally. I rolled over and was thinking how much it SUCKED that we were leaving the next day. BUT, was super excited for MNSSHIP that night!! I have been wanting to go for YEARS, and have been so jealous of reading trip reports every year of people who got to go. So, this was definitely a dream come true for me!

I was also excited to just hang out at the campground that day and relax some. We were planning on going straight over to the MK at 4pm, when we could get in w/our party tickets. DH and I talked briefly about going to MK or something that morning for a little bit w/our APS! !!!!! But decided to just hang out and relax w/the family. We don’t typically like to go to the parks morning till night like we had the past 2 days, so we were ready for some relaxation!

I took a quick shower and got dressed, and my parents, DH and I just kinda sat and talked outside for awhile, ate breakfast, etc.

Then we decided to go on a nice long bike ride and explore some!!!

We rode around some of the loops right around us, looking at camp sites and stuff. Then we headed towards the path that goes over to Wilderness Lodge. It’s back past the petting farm and Settlement bus stop. It was so pretty back there, and we past a few kids coming down the path. My parents had been back there earlier that morning and saw some rabbits, but we didn’t see them this time. I was going crazy taking pictures, the path was just SO pretty.

I forget how long the path is, a few miles I think? Eventually we came up on the Wilderness Lodge

Again, made me sentimental and a bit sad to see it! We rode up past the bus stop, and down through the villas area before heading back.

Going back down the path to Ft. Wilderness we came up behind 2 couples riding one of the surrey bikes from WL. It looked like so much fun, but my mom and I had memories of that! A few years ago we took my two young cousins, and we rented one when we were staying at The Boardwalk. They were small, so obviously couldn’t help us pedal too much. We rode all the way around the lake over to The Beach Club and Yacht Club, and there are a few decent sized hills and we struggled to pedal that heavy bike! Lol.

We got back to Ft. Wilderness and rode down past Pioneer Hall and around to the left of the building, back towards where River Country used to be. This was seriously one of the COOLEST parts of the trip.

We went through where the ticket booth used to be, and even further back to where the old buildings still are. Some of restrooms and locker rooms, and the others were a snack bar and I guess a gift shop. There was a fence all the way around, but you could see some over it.

Then we discovered a big huge rock near one of the walls. We figured out if you climbed up on a picnic table next to it you could climb on top of the rock and then see over the fences. SO COOL!!! DH got up there first to take some pictures bc I was scared, but then I couldn’t resist and had to see it! We got some awesome pictures. When we got back the week later my mom read somewhere on the camping board that they had recently took down some barriers that kept you from getting back there. There were still some ropes and stuff up (we totally went under them!) but we’re lucky we got to see all that! It was seriously SO cool.

We actually have an oooold home video, that my dad took when they took my brother and I there when we were kids. I was maybe 5 or so, my brother was a baby. It was the coolest thing ever, I remember playing there. I wish they hadn’t closed it! But it was just so awesome to see all this stuff!

We finally left, we didn’t want to get thrown out for exploring forbidden property!! We rode around the other way to where Mickey’s Backyard Barbeque is. We were thinking about taking my cousins there next June when we go back, and wanted to see it…

We went over to the gift shop near the back across from Pioneer Hall, just to see what they had.

DH and I picked out a few things we wanted but decided to wait until later since we were still riding around.


We rode around some more loops on that side, and then went around to the other side of the campground past the pool and to the Meadows outpost.

They had these little guns, they are basically like the ones you use in Toy Story Mania, DH thought they were hilarious.

We went through some of the tent loops, and DH and I decided we really want to go back sometime and stay in a tent. It’s CHEAP, and would be so fun. I’m not typically a tent camping kind of girl, but hello it’s DISNEY, and the shower houses are so nice, I could totally handle it! We haven’t decided when, but some weekend before our AP’s run out definitely!!! They stay so busy though, every weekend I’ve looked, all the sites are full, so we’ll see.

By this time we had been riding for a few hours, and were getting hungry. We headed back to the camper, and DH and I decided to go swimming! It was pretty cloudy, and looked like it might rain, but we really wanted to swim! We packed up some lunch and changed clothes, and headed down to the pool on our bikes!

There were quite a few people there, and we found a table in the shade and put our towels and bag and stuff there, and got in and swam for awhile. MUCH better than the other night when we froze!!

We swam for a little bit and then decided to eat! We ended up moving tables so we’d be in the sun…it still wasn’t really sunny and it was chilly getting out of the water. We just hung out and ate, and enjoyed being there and being excited for the party that night!! My mom came by on her bike, she was just riding around some more. We spent the next hour or two just sitting out by the pool in the chairs, talking, and swimming some more. SO much fun. That’s what I love about vacation

About 2:30 or so we decided to head back to the camper so we could shower and clean up, and begin getting ready for the Halloween party that night! We hopped back on our bikes and were off!

I read earlier but had to run before I could comment. Sounds like a nice, not so lazy, lazy day. The Fort sounds like so much fun. It offers so much so you don't have to be bored when you aren't at the park or DTD.

Loved your River Country pictures. That was the highlight of the the vacation in the 70's and 80's. My kids couldn't wait to get there and then didn't want to leave. Their favorite memory of River Country is that they had the best chocolate chip cookies in the world.

Love the pictures from the day at the campground. The bike riding looks like real fun. OMG I can't believe you have pictures of River Country. I went there when I was 8. That was my first trip to Disney and we went to the Magic Kingdom of course and River Country. Wasn't there a part of it that you feed goats. I have a picture of a goat trying to eat my jacket and that's all I talked about when I got home. Or was it just a water park. I remember, I remember. Thanks for bringing back memories of my first trip. I can't wait to see the halloween party.
