The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

Okay, MIL vent is back.

I am about ready to go get Lucas. This is ridiculous!

I sent EVERYTHING she needed to take care of Lucas. She only him from 9pm last night until we get there about 10am tomorrow. So one whole day.

She left Lucas, without our permission, with DH's cousin that has KNOWN drug problems. This woman has diseases (Hep B, etc.) from her drug addiction days.
So she could go to the grocery store and buy cereal we TOLD her we don't feed him. And baby food because she didn't like the peas I sent (I made them).

Seriously?? Does she honeslty think she'll ever get him overnight again if she can't listen to a thing we told her?

I am so irritated and upset. She wanted to spend time with Lucas and the first thing she does is pass him off to another family member. :(

:mad:I can see my family doing that! I know you are beyond mad! When my grandmother kept ds12, she would throw out my breastmilk!

***The going out and getting other food, not the leaving with a druggie!!! I would throw such a fit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got the tree up!:santa:

Piecey- I would not be happy with that!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I will check in with you all when we get back from Disney:yay::yay::yay: Hope everyone has a wonderful and safe holiday.

MIL vent!

*Edited out*
It felt good to vent, and dang was I mad, but it's over. :)

I read the edited out one also before you edited it. . . UGH! I cannot believe it. My MIL doesn't like that I BF and is always trying to get me to use formula - but she gives Isabel my breast milk when we have left her there (most recently it was for an hour and a half for a meeting I had at church), I know we will have issues when we get to the 4 month mark and don't do cereal, DH and I are planning on not giving cereal - we will give her breast milk when we get there. While I was readmitted to the hospital she would give her my breast milk first Enough about me - HOW IRRITATING is that - first she stand you up without a word (even if just for a few hours) and now she is leaving your aby with a druggie to get food you do not give him, UGH! :confused3

Work's been going good and so has pumping while I'm there. I've been getting 4, 4 and then 3 during my last session. It's funny to see everyone run to the kitchen (my "room") right before I pump..."I need coffee" or "gotta get my snacks!" :rotfl:

How do you get sooooo much?? The most I usually get if I pump is two ounces (one from each) the ONLY time I got more (2.5 from ONE) was on Sunday - I missed two regular feedings because we were at church and then out to eat and we fed her my expressed milk in a bottle - when I got home I fed from one and pumped the other and got sooo much. Other than that though, I usually just get an average of an once each, I'd love to know how youget more - maybe it is because your baby is older and demands more?

I think it just depends on the person. I know I produce milk like a cow. :rotfl: I took Katie to daycare today and decorated, and pumped once around lunch. I got 5 oz on each side, so 10 oz total. At work, I pump around 9am and get 4-5 oz on each side (2 bottles), then again around 12 and get 2-3 oz on each side (for her 3rd bottle). She does 3 bottles a day at daycare. She is 6 mos old, but I've been doing this since the beginning.

Piecey- I would not be happy with that!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I will check in with you all when we get back from Disney:yay::yay::yay: Hope everyone has a wonderful and safe holiday.

Have fun!!!!!!

****We eat our Thanksgiving meal on Wed every year, so I can go to my mother's on Thanksgiving (and dh can hunt). I just got the turkey out of the oven. It smells so good! I can't wait for the boys to get here so we can eat!!!!!!

He drinks 4 oz each feed so I guess I'm just making what he's eating. I only pumped twice at work today and got enough for three bottles. I did drink about 60 oz of water though! :rotfl:

Does anyone use the sleep sacks? Up until now Alex has been using blankets and he's starting to move more in the crib. What do you put the kid in before puting them in the sleep sack? A onsie? Regular PJs?

I'm drinking 64-96 ounces of water a day - so I guess I am just making what she is drinking and no more yet. Guess when she needs more she'll make me make more. I wish I made enough to store some and have on hand in case of anything. Thanks. . . If anyone has any tips onbeing able to epress more or making more, let me know :)

I use one and I dress her in regular pj's with it. Our room can get chilly at night.

You do make more milk as your baby gets bigger. They go thru a few days of a growth spurt (you'll know, the baby will be at breast all night long) and they will increase your milk that way. My baby is nearly 6 mo and we just did about 3 all-night long nursing sessions. They wear me out but it's all for a good reason!

Maggie,

The Kmart coupon is for $5 on any size powder Enfamil Premium.
Let me know if you can use that. I thought maybe you said you only use RTF but I can't remember for sure.

Another crappy night here. Told him i'm done pretending things are okay. Told him to get help yesterday. We'll see.

So I'm going to go get Lucas in the morning. By myself. From my MIL.
I'm sure that'll go over real smooth.

 I'm so sorry. I hope he'll wise up and see that he has to get some help, or lose you both. And good luck with your mil.

On the just mommies boards they seem to swear by steel cut oatmeal.

That's a good reason to make oatmeal cookies. :teeth:

Everyone was quiet yesterday! I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! Patsy, I thought about you yesterday, and hope you were able to have a relaxing time with family.

We had a good day. We had our Thanksgiving (me, dh, the kids) on Wed, so yesterday Dh hunted and went to his father's house for Thanksgiving dinner(usually he doesn't, but they talked him into it).

The kids and I went to Bass Pro, had pics with Santa, got all dh's Christmas, birthday, and anniversary gifts, then went to see The Blind Side. OMG-that is the best movie I've seen in years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course, my boys are huge Ole Miss fans, so all the Ole Miss touches made it even more enjoyable for us. Dh would have loved it, but said he would catch it on dvd.

Katie nursed for awhile, slept for awhile, watched the football scenes in awe:upsidedow, then repeated the process! After the movie, I changed her in the ladies' room. Several people commented on how good she was, and how they didn't even know there was a baby in the theater. I made more noise than she did! There was a lot of laughing, and crying:guilty:, during the movie.

Then we headed to my parents' for dinner. We ate at 4. My younger sister had to work Wed night and Thu night (she is a respiratory therapist) so we all adjusted for her schedule. She came in around 7am, slept all day, got up at 3 and got dressed, got to visit for 2 hours, then left around 6pm. I would hate to work nights!

We had our normal family squabble-what to do about Christmas. Last year we agreed to not do presents-just all bring food and have a good time. One sister pouted and threw a fit, said it wasn't fair to her kids not to get presents (they are 20 and 17.....) and wasn't going to come if we didn't do presents "because that just isn't Christmas":headache:. Also, we were going to have it at my older sister's (lives across the road from my mother's) but this sister (the 2nd oldest) said she wasn't coming if it was there!

We finally agreed this year to buy for the "kids" (my nephew turns 20 today, but she insisted we keep him in the kids group......), our parents, and grandmother, then bring a man gift and a woman gift for dirty Santa. From now on, everyone over 21 will go into the dirty santa pile. I told them I had already bought for everyone, but I would just put the items in my "gift closet" until their birthdays. I just don't want Christmas ruined by the drama (or a 45 yr old's tantrums:rolleyes1)! I just want to pick something and do it every year! We also agreed to have it at my younger sister's house (2 doors down from my mothers'-notice a theme here....). That way, some stress is taken off of mama (hopefully).

I woke up at 2 to order a few things from Walmart.com, but it went live at 2:30 (central). I got what I needed, and may run to the store around 10 to see if they have any $3 pjs left. Or I may stay here and not worry about it. I need to sleep, but the past 2 nights I've caught Patsy's insomnia.

Morning everyone! I just got back from Kohls, Target, Big Lots and Macy's. Spent wayyy too much but I now have a new crockpot, 2 pairs of pants and 5 tops for me, and my DH will have a 1TB external hard drive and Dexter Season 1 for under the tree. :teeth:

December - my DH's family exchanges names every year - once you turn 18 you can "qualify" to particpate in the exhange or you can opt out because they are in college. Once out of college, you don't get any more gifts then unless you do the name exchange. Under 18 get's a present from just about everyone (toys for the youngin's, $ for the teens...) and if you participate in the exchange there is a $50 limit. Works out well; DH's mom controls the name exchanges and makes sure everyone gets their gift.

Off to take a nap until Alex wakes up!

That is what I want-to be able to say "this is how we do it in my family" instead of a big fight every year over what to do. We have tried drawing names (and people would still buy "little" things for everyone, and then you'd feel bad that you didn't have something to give them.....) and it got ridiculous. We've done dirty santa. We usually just buy for everyone, and there are always too many gifts, and mass chaos, no one could even see what everyone had, people would open their presents, head to the car with them, and that was it! I like to look around, see what everyone got, and just enjoy the event! So last year, we *thought* we had agreed to just do away with all of it, until the fit was thrown!

I finally just told them that we had to just pick something and do it. The fit throwing sister does all of her shopping the weekend before Christmas, when her husband gets his bonus, so she really doesn't understand trying to budget throughout the year. As I said, I have like 3 gifts to buy, and I'm through! We are just very different, in just about every way imaginable!

Dirty Santa will work better for us than drawing names, because we have some friends that are like family, and some years they come and some they don't. We decided to just tell them about the dirty santa, and they can bring one gift and join in (that way everyone will have something to open). I'm going to put my foot down at Christmas, and say this is the way we are going to do it from now on. No more changing it from year to year!

By the way, my 20 yr of nephew (who my sister insists is still just as much a kid as Katie-her words yesterday!) has his own trailer and works! He does take college classes part time, but is living fully on his own. I already had his gift, so it is no big deal. But next year we are cutting the cord!

Thanks. It wasn't bad. My MIL didn't give me any trouble (I was really surprised but happily so) and so I just took Lucas and headed to my family. It was relaxing. Crazy Aunt from S.C. and my cousin who is due 2/1 (after trying IUI, IVF, etc. for several years with her ex-husband she got pregnant with a guy she was casually dating!) and absolutely ecstatic. It was nice to talk baby again!! :cloud9: Her baby shower is tomorrow.

I think it would be neat to get Santa photos at Bass! We don't have one. I really don't wanna chalk up the $$ to take Lucas to the mall but I think I'm going to. It's his first Christmas!! :lovestruc:lovestruc

...and yeah, I thought about going to WalMart for the $3 PJs and decided I valued my sanity more than my money.
Mom got Lucas a pair of fleece PJs @ Sears with dalmatians and fire trucks on them. Very cute.

We went to Pennys, Elder Beerman, Sears, B&B Works, Yankee Candle and JoAnne Fabrics.
I always get wrapping paper and stuff at JoAnnes... plus, Lucas loves the softer blankets he has so I took advantage of the $2.99/yd fleece and got some embroidery floss to do a blanket stitch on them.. voila, cheapo blanket! :woohoo: Now I just need to figure out how to do a blanket stitch.:laughing:

I've been trying to figure out what to get my brother's girlfriend. It's hard to buy for someone you don't know and uh... lives in Australia. My mom kept trying to buy her all the cute fleece/flannel PJ sets and I'd have to remind her it's like 114 degrees there! :rotfl:
She has never seen snow so I found a snowflake pendant necklace at Pennys and thought I could send it with a cute note about sending her a piece of the Christmas my brother is used to. Or maybe that is corny. Who knows!!

*eta*
I forgot! I also popped into Home Depot and managed to get one of the $49 trees! I was excited! We didn't have a tree before! :)

I stayed on the computer from 2-4, then went to sleep, only to have dh's step-sister call at 5:30 to see what size pjs I wanted at Walmart! Then she called back to tell me what styles they had. I think she ended up getting dd10 a pink Spongebob and a princess set. They didn't have any of the 12 mos (smallest was 24) so I told her not to get Katie any.

I called my daddy at 5:45, and he was headed to Walmart to get a tv! I called him last night and told them they were online (he had told me he was going this morning and I told him he would have to go early and campout!) and I could get it with $.97 shipping, but he told me no. So I called to see if he got it, and he was still 30 min away from the store! I told him it was too late, but he had to see for himself. So he didn't get a TV. I don't think he believed me!

I went to Walmart at 10:30, and was able to get another pair of pjs for dd10 (Ariel), a purple vacuum, and a princess rocking horse ($15!!!!!) for Katie. It is still a madhouse, though!

I don't think it is corny! I think it is sweet (or maybe I just like corny things ;) )

Oh, and Yeay for the tree :)

Patsy- thanks for thinking of me with the coupon. I am only using RTF right now, thanks though.

AGain if anyone has any enfamil checks-- i would be FOREVER grateful. Jake goes through a can a day and its $6.50. Wow.... I feel terrible if i have to buy without a coupon but its practically impossible to have checks for every can. I wanted to breastfeed so bad but his reflux made it to where I had to stop.... I guess no one ever anticipates it being so expensive!
