The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

Wow, I'm so happy that you got more of a surprise labor this time around.

You mentioned a few times on the moms-to-be that you wanted that. :)

I think I'll be like that a little bit, too. Right now I'm just crossing my fingers that one day I can think back on that day and remember something good.

I have faith that you will. It is the day you met your son!

Is anyone else that is exclusively BF losing a lot of hair? I feel like I am going bald!

Also, wanted to ask december how katie is doing for naps at daycare? Do they hold her til she goes to sleep or just put her down? what do you do at home? My mom has been watching Allison, but works in a school and will be back to work in 2 weeks so Allie is starting daycare in a week and a half. It is a home day care but the woman (who i know bc i work with her daugher) says that she usually just puts the kids down at nap time... unfortunately we are in the bad habit of holding her til she goes to sleep- I know it is bad, but it is SO hard. especially at night because she does sleep for a good stretch and I enjoy rocking her!

I haven't noticed any hairloss, but I have some pretty crazy kinky thick hair!

Katie nurses to sleep at home. Sometimes she'll go to sleep with the kids holding her, but rarely. She NEVER lays down and goes to sleep on her own! At daycare, she is a different baby. They do rock her some, and she sleeps in the swings (we gave away our swing she hated it so much!), and they will put her down in the bed to sleep too. One of the ladies in the baby room goes to church with my parents and grandmother, and she has kind of taken Katie in as one of her own.

My first delivery still doesn't bring back a lot of good memories, BUT the sting of everything that had to change at the last minute has definitely faded. And I've had much better experiences with my other kids.
It was nice to get some surprises this time around, though.

Melessa-thank you for posting the birth story over here! And at least you didn't have to push for very long, especially considering the pain you started going through to get to that point! :thumbsup2

Okay, for those of you who pray please say a prayer for a friend of mine. She was pregnant about five years ago to only lose the baby (a girl) the day she was due. They have tried to get preggo since then, including fertility treatments, to no avail. So they quit trying. They just found out that she is seven weeks pregnant! :lovestruc I am so excited for them but also very nervous for them! So please say a prayer that things go well for them. She is already having loads of pregnancy symptoms so I take that as a good sign. they have their eight week sono next week.

And today is the first day that I go completely solo! DH flew out this a.m., so send some good vibes my way, please! I hope everyone has a terrific day.

I was really surprised to be halfway through my second push and hear, "OK, head is out, here come the shoulders." But I felt MUCH better after that too.

Prayers for your friend to be sure! There are a couple of similar situations going on here with people I know as well.

Is anyone else that is exclusively BF losing a lot of hair? I feel like I am going bald!

In my babycenter email a couple of weeks ago it said that you lose less hair while your are pregnant than you normally do - but that it ends as soon as you have the baby - so that is porbably what is happening.

here is an article about less shedding: http://www.babycenter.com/0_hair-and-nail-changes-during-pregnancy_1456563.bc

and here is one about postpartum hair loss: http://www.babycenter.com/0_postpartum-hair-loss_11721.bc

Technically, I didn't meet him until about 2am the next morning. :headache:

I think I'll get there but right now it still makes me cry.

Had TLC on today (watching Jon and Kate + 8 :rolleyes1) and a Baby Story came on.
Lady had the same thing as me-- was taken into a c-section after labor and I cried. So ridiculous. Waiting on that to go away. :sad2:

Mendy, your friend is in my thoughts!!

It is really common afterhaving a baby for your hair to fall out tons!! I am loosing hair by the handful! its horrid!!but normal. I have lost hair after each baby.

So I sucked it up and called the pediatrician today because of Lucas' undying hunger.
He VICIOUSLY attacks bottles now, it's ridiculous. If it's near his face his he'll hit it with his hands to knock it in his mouth and sometimes he'll lunge for the nipple. Piglet is a valid nickname for him. Maybe next time DH feeds him I'll be ready with the camcorder... it's a bit funny and terrifying all at the same time!

The nurse goes "Well have you tried bottles of sterile water in between feedings?"
W T F! I thought that was a no-no?! I asked DH and he assured me that was what we were told by SOMEONE. I told the nurse that and she said "Oh really? Hmph. Well, let me check with the NP and I'll call you back."
She called me back and told me to give him 8oz and at his appointment next week they'll check his weight to "See if that is too much"... I don't think it will be, he's pretty thin. No chunks or rolls of fat. He also went from the 98th percentile at birth to the 75th percentile at 1 month... so I don't see that this is going to change him much weight wise.
That and I've occassionally been giving him 8oz when he seems like he's starving... against the "you're flooding him with formula!" nurse's wishes... I just didn't want to go in Monday, it be documented they said "No to 8oz" and tell the Dr. I've been giving him 8oz. Does that make me weird? I mean, after all... he's our kid so it's our choice, right?
Sometimes they make me feel like it's not up to us at all...

Its up to you and your baby how much he eats. Is the nurse older?? She sounds kinda nutty to me. Some babies just eat more!

Our news for the day?? Vinny got up on his hands and knees today! Im so excited for them to be mobile soon! :cool1: It will be no stopping them then!!

Awwww!!! Once he gets moving, Jasmine will probably follow shortly, right? I thought I remember reading that somewhere.... she'll have some motivation to go after her brother!!

Lucas still hasn't rolled or anything. I'm thinking I let him spend too much time in his swing. He's barely ever flat on his back or belly... I'm always afraid because of the dog. Stupid, but it worries me if I'm not right there with him.

I think I've got a mini-mess on my hands, it'll be interesting to see how it plays out... DH asked MIL if she could watch Lucas for me to go to class. She's an hours drive but the only person that doesn't have a life :lmao: BIL's girlfriend (of 4 years) was there and offered to watch Lucas because "It'll get Joe (BIL) off my *** about not doing anything."
I'm not sure how this is going to end but it means I don't have to drive an hour one way to take Lucas to my MIL so I'm going with it...
Girlfriend has never worked, gone to school or contributed anything beyond the government $$ she gets (WIC, Food Stamps, HUD)... DH and I are pretty sure that is the reason they aren't getting married. Apparently BIL is ready for her to be doing something now that her daughter is in preschool...
I swear, DH's family is oddles of soap opera-esque fun! :rotfl:

That's been happening to me; after 6 months it's slacked off. I have tons of thick, curly hair so I'm sure the only one who notices is me--and DH if I forgot to get the hair out of the shower drain. I barely lost any hair during pregnancy; it looked great. I had my driver's license photo taken in my 3rd trimester, and I'm so glad I'll have fab hair looking back at me every time I open my wallet for the next few years. :teeth: The only thing is I now have a cloud of short hairs sticking out everywhere.

Piecey, I'm sure it's tough dealing with an unexpected c-section. But remember, you left the hospital with a healthy baby, and that was the ultimate goal. It doesn't matter to Lucas how he was born; he's just glad he was born. :) Although he's probably upset that the umbilical cord was cut, because he doesn't get a steady supply of food any more. ;)

Lucas sounds like one of the other babies in daycare with DD. Little guy was 7 lbs when he was born, now he's huge and eats a ton. Some babies are just that way!

Oh, I'm much better. It doesn't upset me anymore near as much anymore, just more disappointing than anything else. DH and I were watching some TV show where they delivered a baby and he goes "Oh, how unrealistic! Lucas didn't look like that when he came out" and it made me a little sad because I have no idea. Stupid stuff like that. I'll get over it! :)

Yes, he's definitely a Piglet. I think that the one nurse yelling at me for "flooding him with formula" just made me apprehensive! I'm sure he'd be much happier having that umbilical cord back... he's suck a porker! :lmao:

...this is really random but I was at a discount store yesterday and they had the Disney Crocs.... I conned DH into getting these
s7_824080_041_01
for Lucas in the future ($9.99!)... the only size they had left was 4/5. Any idea what approx. age that translates into? I knew to stick them waay back in the closet but just curious.

I have also read on the Family boards that some CMs will demand that babies wear shoes on rides so I found a soft-bottomed pair of white slipper/tennis shoes to leave in the stroller at Disney in case we encounter an overzealous CM.. :rotfl:

I also read on the budget board that cabelas.com has these too for about 10.00 I wanted to get a pair but for $6.00 to ship... I son's first pair of crocs were that size 4/5 and he was about 18 months. If you want to get them on him a little sooner you can try putting them in the dryer and they will shrink up a little.

Thanks, I was trying to get a general idea of age.

I'm good with them staying that size.

Yeah, 6 dollars to ship is a little crazy!

The store I was at last night was called Ollies. Not sure if you have one around there? They had tons of Crocs, I got some flip flops.
They had POTC kids Crocs, too, but I chose the Mickey ones. :goodvibes

I want to say Mikalah was in a 4/5 when she was about 12 months. But she has huge feet. She now wears the same size shoe as her 7yo brother.

Ugh. I got NO sleep last night. I thought we were doing good. Just goes to show ya who is really in charge. JASMINE. :lmao: The rest of us are just here to do her bidding. And my 7yo is sick. he is up in his bed because he doesnt want to give it to the babies.

Hi everyone!

I don't have much to report. Things have gotten better at night since we stopped trying to keep her up during the day (man that was stupid!)

DH has a back to school meeting next thursday...I'm so freaked to be on my own. My mom will probably hang out with me most of the day and I think I'm going to go with my friend (haven't seen her since highschool--gotta love facebook!)to her mommy and me group.
Gotta feed the muchkin!

I agree, probably around 12-18m. DS1 is 21 months and wearing a 7. I thought he was a 6 and took him to be measured and she said he would need a 7 if not 7.5. Of course there are 10 tons of girl shoes and only a few for boys that don't involve cartoons or skulls. I'm not into paying $$$$ for kids shoes. I figure if I don't have $50 shoes, my kids won't either. At least for now when they can't argue. ;)

The baby is going to be baptized next weekend. My sister is his godmother and is picking out his bonnet. I mentioned I wanted the kind that our 1st has that will turn from a bonnet to his bride's handkerchief, so I hope she can find one. We are having a brunch afterwards at one of my favorite places. They have the best sauteed chicken with a lemon sauce. Yum! I can't wait. We haven't been there in forever.

Don't worry, you'll do great. I was so worried about being home alone too. This time around was easier only in the sense that I already knew what to expect. Now I had a 1.5 year old to chase after too! The mommy and me classes are so much fun. Is it though a park district?
