The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

Go Adi!!! I will have to remember Aquaphor in case Zander has similar symptoms!! Its always nice to have something that works so well when the LOs seem so uncomfortable and you just don't know what to do!

Melessa-a huge CONGRATULATIONS on the birth of your daughter and welcome to our hangout!!

Patsy-that is such an adorable picture of Lucas!

Good morning all! Zander has his 1 month appt. today (although he is a couple of weeks over a month!) and I can't wait to see what he weighs!

Justine (justhat on the Moms-to-Be-Thread) told me about the Aquaphor via PM. Very grateful! It's already down from looking really raw to just being a bit pink/irritated looking.

Little tip- I got my bottle at CVS-- and they did have a CVS brand of it, too. WalMart didn't even have the stuff. :confused3

Mendy, I'm curious too! I love hearing about all the progress the babies are making. :lovestruc

DannysMom, yay for Katie being home! That is so exciting! Hopefully Dylan comes home soon, too! :goodvibes

As for the clean house thing you guys were talking about.... my house got intensively cleaned by my mom and her best friend while we were moving in. Then she re-cleaned after I ended up with a c-section. And she did it again when I had my gallbladder out. DH asked if I thought I needed any other surgeries. :sad2:  He claims some of the shirts my mom washed had been in some black hole since before I was pregnant. :rolleyes1

For my c-section I went into L&D and was admitted to my room, was prepped and walked down to the OR. When I was finished I was brought back to my room for recovery. My hospital also prefers to do VBAC's but I dont' want another long labor that ended up a c-section. Lilliana was over a pound smaller at birth with a much smaller head. So I might not have had the same issues as I did the first time.

I thought I only wanted 1 child at first, I have a 4 1/2 year age difference. It's the best decisson that I made.

One other thing about my hospital is Lilliana never left my side. She was put in my arms after they took me off the table and put in my bed. During our stay she was only taken out of the room for her weighing and hearing test.

I'm debating a VBAC but DH doesn't think it's worth attempting because of how many issues I had getting over the "emergency c-section" with Lucas. He's probably right, but that isn't a decision that has to be made for a long, long time.
That is great that she was in your arms when they got you off the table!!
I was still crying my eyes out and shaking horribly when I got back to my L&D room. After they hooked up the morphine drip, my OB checked in on me and all that they moved me to my hospital room and then I think I got Lucas about a half hour later.
To give them credit it was late (midnight-1am) and they only had two nurses... and two of us there that had had c-sections back to back. I think they truly did the best they could.

At my hospital there is an OR on the L&D floor. I knew I was having a c-section in advance. What happend with me was I had to get to the hospital 2 hours before hand. They got me all hooked up and filled out paperwork. I was wheeled into the OR with my husband. She was born about 5 minutes after they started. They let me see her and pose for a quick picture, then the baby and my husband went to the nursery while they finished my up. About 45 minutes after they started I was in recovery. My husband and Natalie came in for the 2 hours I was in there. I could hold her and we both fed her. Once I could move my feet, we were placed in our room. It really was a nice experience.

Thanks for sharing, it's crazy how different everything is. Maybe I'm weird, but I find it really interesting to read about! :)

I have no pictures with Lucas right after birth. :sad1: They tried to pull down that paper barrier they put in front of your face to show me, but I didn't see him. They have a mini-nursery in the a side-room off the c-section OR, where they took DH and Lucas to weigh/clean/diaper him. I have pictures of him in that room after he had already been cleaned up.

2 different hospitals...3 csections later (plus another hosp sis in law had csection at) all had them in L&D OR area, recovered in L&D for a couple of hours than off to mom and baby ward... go figure. Not sure how I'd feel about having baby in general or and recovering in general recovery!! With my older 2 they brought baby right into my room in L&D while I was in "recovery" CJ he's another story, but that was because of his issues.

I'm the same way! I would hate recovering in general!! I didn't get Lucas in L&D room, but I wasn't there for hours. I'm thinking maybe an hour max before they moved me to the other room. They brought him to me maybe an hour after I was in that room but came back and got him after about 20 minutes. I didn't fight them, I was exhausted, DH had been gone for over an hour. I kept worrying about what would happen if I dropped him or he rolled over and I couldn't move him or if I fell asleep with him in my bed. It freaked me out so I handed him back over. They kept him every night, he never spent a night with me.

I'm thinking that DH is going to be the one getting the snip snip, too, because a c-section is much more intensive than a vasectomy. I figure it's better for me to go to a hospital I'm 100% comfortable with to deliver at vs. going to one I hate just so I can get my tubes tied.

Since I was at a hospital with a regional perinatal center, there were dedicated c-section OR's on the L&D floor. There was a small (4-6 bed) recovery room, where I would guess I spent the first hour or two post c/s -- but visitors were welcome, my mom & DH were both there with me.

Are there really on 2 hospital choices? Near me, I can think of at least 3 hospitals pretty close & around 7 (maybe more) if I venture just a little bit further afield -- which would include the one where I delivered.

Hmmm.. that is a bit better than being in the general recovery room at least! Obviously that hospital sees a lot more patients than mine. We only have 4 L&D rooms total, no need for a 4-6 bed c-section recovery room! :rotfl:

My hospital had an OR on the L&D floor. I dont know how recovery went, but Im pretty sure they just wheel you back to your room.

Our hospital had an OR on the labor and delivery floor for c-sections. I would call the maternity ward of the hospital you hate and double-check.

Just an FYI - Lilliana had an awful rash on her face either acne or ezema, i'm not really sure. I used the Aquaphar and it came with a sample size body wash which is also aquaphar. The body wash is awesome, it cleared it up within a few day's.

Dannysmom- :yay: So glad Katie is home. How is she doing? How are you doing?

Natalie has really dry skin of her face. My doctor said it is okay to use Aquafor but I have not so far. I didn't want anything to make it worse. She also had a litte rash thing going for her at 2 weeks of age. It lasted almost 3 weeks. I think I am going to have to pick some up now. Is is the stuff that comes in the tub and is like paste?

I didn't get the big tub because it was $17.99... I got the smaller one, for $7.99, that looks like it is in a sunscreen type container. It's got the consistency of Vaseline.

She's doing great. :goodvibes Thanks for asking. She is a really good baby. She's taking about 3 oz of expressed breastmilk every 4 hours or so -- then she sacks out for a few hours. :lovestrucSo I really can't complain.

Last night was a bit rough -- but it wasn't really her fault. They had run out of milk at the hospital, so she had had 1 or 2 formula feeds & it did not agree with her. Last night we couldn't figure out why she was so fussy. This AM, she had a poop that was a bit firm for a breastmilk fed baby & then it was followed by regular watery/ seedy looking poop & she obviously felt much better & sacked out for a few hours -- but by then it was morning!

We saw the ped this AM & she weighed in at 5 lbs 3 oz. Sometime in the last few weeks Katie sprouted a hemangioma on her back. I totally didn't know about it until after we got home last night.:rolleyes1 Oh well, it's harmless & it's not in a spot that would bother her. The ped was impressed by how unremarkable her NICU course was. :goodvibes We go back in a week for a weight check & probably to get the first HepB vax.

Awww!! What a big girl!!! :lovestruc

Patsy... I have a can of Similac Soy that has been sitting in my cupboard for a little bit. I wont need it, I dont think.. so let me know if you want it and I can send it out. :thumbsup2

Glad to see all the good news this week, and I'm glad Lucas is better.

This week has kicked my butt! I love my new school. My principal is a hoot-Wed he was playing "She's a Brick House" over the intercom, he took his shoes off during our first faculty meeting, and he loves to pick at me about needing time to pump! He even switched my lunch time with someone else so I can go with a friend and she can watch my kids while I pump. He's made it clear he doesn't care what I do as long as I teach my kids. But getting up at 5:30, and getting Katie to daycare, and getting to work by 7:25 has been tough. She loves it though. She is all smiles when I drop her off, and all smiles when I pick her up. The problem is that she wants to make up for lost nursing time when we get home, and I don't get anything done. My grad class starts on the 17th, and I'm worried about how I'm going to fit it all in.

It is 8:15, I just got her to sleep and I'm trying to surf the net and eat, then I think I'm going to bed, too!

december-you sound like you are about to have a really full schedule!!! to you in advance.

Dannysmom-I am so happy to hear Katie is doing so well. I'm sure you are 1/2 relieved to have her there with you and here's to hoping and praying you will be 100% relieved soon with Dylan coming home!

I may have to pick up some Aquaphor bath stuff myself because Zander has had some baby acne going on for a few weeks now.

He was 11 lbs 2 oz. and 22 1/2 inches long yesterday-thats almost four pounds more than birth weight and 2 inches longer! I also got a script for Genetian Violet because I seem to still be having problems with Thrush/Yeast. I pick it up on Monday. Now I get to look forward to being purple!!

So I finally feel like I actually belong here on the newest moms thread -- Katie is home & napping in her crib. :) Dylan still needs some time. Hopefully not more than a week or two, but we'll see.

That's great news! How does her big brother feel about having her home now? Hopefully he will have his little brother home soon as well.

HI ladies!

So I'm pretty sure I'm back to normal. I haven't had any baby blues episodes in 2 days and I feel great today. I'm so thankful it was just the BB and not PPD. I told my mom (and I mean it still) that I'd rather give birth again than ever feel that way again. It was so terrible.

I will pick up some Aquafor on my next trip out of the house.

That'd be great! :goodvibes

Anyone use any of this stuff?... I have

Good Start checks
Good Start Kroger Coupons
Cans of Nutramigen
Cans of Similac Advance
Cans of Similac Advance Early Shield

If anyone can use any of that, let me know. I kept it for some reason but I know Lucas will never be able to eat it, he's GOT to have the Soy.

Glad to see all the good news this week, and I'm glad Lucas is better.

I'm so glad that she is handling daycare so well, though! That has got to be a huge relief for you! :goodvibes
I find that I get more done the more I have to do... I hardly get anything accomplished anymore because there is nothing that HAS to be done.
Hopefully it all falls into place for you without too much of a struggle.

This is the reason that I was adamant about not having another baby. It's miserable to feel like that. :grouphug:

Hello ladies! Guess it's time for me to officially join this thread :flower3:

I can't believe my baby is already a week old! Time really is flying by. Anyway, I had my first mini-meltdown last night. The hormones finally caught up with me. Jake would NOT stop crying for like 4 hours straight last night. I fed him, changed his diaper, burped him, rocked him...nothing worked. He just kept crying and crying and by the end of it I was in tears because I felt like a bad mom. I kept saying "I think he hates me!" My mom came home and of course 5 minutes before she showed he had stopped crying and was laying contentedly with me on the couch. Way to go :rotfl: I know sometimes babies just cry for no reason but I felt so bad that nothing I did could make him feel better :(

I wasn't one of those super emotional pregnant women so I guess all those hormones are all coming out now :rotfl2:

Meijer has Kiddopotamus Doodle Diner disposable placemats on clearance for $4.99. There are 20 in per pack and include alphabet and numbers. Perfect for Disney or everyday! It may seem like something far off, but they come in really handy once your LOs start to sit up in highchairs. Even if they aren't eating off it, it's nice to have a clean table area for them to play.

Yay! Welcome! I sincerely hope you don't follow my footsteps and you just skip the baby blues! Let me know if you do get them! Talking to Patsy was one of the things that helped me the most.
