I dont get why people are so freaked about breastfeeding. My mom just about runs screaming from the room... But my dad never had an issue with it.

I was thinking of you today.. going back to work. I know it will suck, but Katie will be so happy to see you when you get back!!

I can't sleep-can't stand the thought of handing her off tomorrow, even for a few hours!

I don't know what it is about breast feeding that freaks people out??? I also don't understand why I was so determined to do it with ds12-except maybe because it freaked them out so much! My younger sister kept saying it was "nasty," and my oldest sister (who never had kids) just got this really embarrassed look on her face when I pulled out the nursing cover and asked if I was really going to do it there in the living room????? I'm a very modest person, and I'm completely covered when I nurse, so they will just have to get over it. Of course, Katie doesn't help with her moans and slurping sounds!

I cried like a baby when I dropped Alex off at the daycare the first time. His dad took him on his first day, because he thought that would make things easier for me. WRONG. On the second day, when I did it... I almost didnt make it to work. He was just so tiny.. I couldnt believe I was doing it. But, you gotta do what you gotta do!! And I was a single mommy, and I had to do it!

What did she expect you to do?? feed your baby in the bathroom sitting on the potty? Some people blow my mind!! Its totally natural!!! Babies have been eating that way FOREVER. Its what they are FOR!!!

Bah to people who think breastfeeding is nasty! People like to weigh in on children's feeding habits, don't they? Too much this, not enough that, etc. They just need to butt out.

DD started solid food/cereal a few weeks ago. She loves sweet potatoes and oatmeal in particular, and hasn't refused anything yet. Fingers crossed we don't have a picky eater!

Ok, I tried to post this earlier but I accidentally erased what I wrote before I could post it!

Shootingstarmom-Madeline used to hate to eat meats of any kind-I think it was because she hated to have to chew so much to break it down. ALl she wanted was mac n cheese. Her doc told me not to worry that she would eventually eat meat. Which she does now eat more than she did but she still prefers mac n cheese. She does love fruit and will eat some veggies but mostly gets stuck on PB & J and mac!

December-I hope you are doing okay today. My heart goes out to those of you who have to leave the little ones at daycare. I know it must be hard. I feel so fortunate that I can stay at home with Madeline and Zander. But I also know its a necessity for so many of us to work.

As far as the cereal/breastfeeding advice goes-every individual has their own opinion and sometimes I wish people would just keep their opinion to themselves. We know whats best for our children and God gave us bo*@s for something! LOL!

We're home (& Katie is nursing-hope that doesn't bother anyone)! I dropped her off at 8:45. I started cryinng when I walked in the door. Katie was fine-the workers were comforting me! I cried the 15 min to work, then pulled it together before I went in. One of my coworkers, who I've worked with before and was pushing for me to get this job, takes her son to the same daycare. She came in about 45 min after me (today was not a required work day), and said she saw Katie this morning, and she was in a swing smiling at everyone! WTH, she won't sit in the swing at home. I got everything unpacked in my room and somewhat arranged, picked up lunch, and got her about 12:30. She was sitting in a swing, and started smiling when she saw me. They said she hadn't cried all morning!

..I think I'm the only doing strictly formula feeding, BUT Lucas is up to at least 6oz a feeding, occassionally taking 8-10oz. I called to see about cereal a few weeks ago and the nurse practically told me I was a horrible mom and "flooding Lucas with formula" because that was way too much.
a) the pediatrician told me a big boy like Lucas can "eat what he wants"
b) the books mostly say that babies won't overeat...
c) he isn't happy unless we let him eat that much. He cries otherwise.

...so how can I be "flooding" him?!

Our doctor told us to feed Natalie until she is full. A baby will know when to stop eating. Right now she usually eats 5 oz. every 4 hours or so and she is 6 1/2 weeks old.

You guys have had a busy weekend. I need to catch up on my reading...

The day of our gender ultrasound we went shopping for little boy clothes. One of the things DH loved and got was this pair of monkey PJs. I'm sooo glad I took them out of the package and had them washed and on hand. They are 3/6 months and I'm not sure Lucas will get much wear out of them.

..and a playmat/gym was one of the things I couldn't make my mind up about. They seemed soo expensive for what they were. Well, today I found one at Big Lots for $25 and I just sucked it up and got it. He LOVES it. (ShootingStarMom, ours has baby food for .25c a jar, too, but it was all stage 2/3 foods. )

Just wanted to share a funny story. We went to church on Sunday and Cam had a big poop after eating. I changed him outside the sanctuary doors on a spare pew because the bathroom upstairs has no fan or ventilation. It hasn't since I was a little girl. Anyways, a little boy about 5-6 comes out to use the bathroom and says is that a baby? I said yes, a baby boy. He comes over and looks at him and flat out asks me "Can't you change that baby somehwere else?" I could have died. That's the last thing I thought he would say. I just laughed and said it's too hot in the bathroom so he's much happier out here. He persisted on me changing him in the bathroom next time because he smelled bad.

Good thing I wasn't feeding him at that moment! We've gotten dozens of looks and a few comments from strangers. I don't understand what the big deal is, or why it's any one else's business how you feed your baby. A woman at a restaurant kept glaring at me for feeding my first born at the table. I had a cover on and I'm a modest nurser too. My husband asked her what was wrong and she said I should go to a "private area" to "do that". He said no one is making you eat your dinner in the bathroom, so my son doesn't have to either. I was so proud of him! He could care less where we feed the kiddos. The car, the dinner table, wherever.

December - I'm glad Katie was a happy girl when you picked her up. I'm sure it was hard to leave her. I hope you get lots of cuddle time tonight.

mmkk - thanks for the info. Madeline sounds a lot like Bry with eating habits. He loves chicken and grilled cheese the most, but will tolerate pizza and hamburgers (sometimes lol).

Staley - we've tried ketchup and sour cream, but the food serves more as a spoon than a dip, lol. I guess we'll keep trying!

Thats to funny! One of the women on my twin boards had a funny kids story. She had taken her kiddos over to a friends house so her older dd could play, and a neighbor girl came over to play. When they were leaving the other mom was talking to the neighbor girl and said, Look, she has twins! The girl looked at her and said.. I know. I bet thats annoying!

Thanks for letting me know you could see my post. I don't know what was going on with my computer. It wouldn't let me stay logged into DIS no matter how many times I tried to log in. Finally, it's working.

Does anyone have any tips about getting my toddler to eat a bigger variety of foods? I know there are some new moms with older kiddos that might have some tips. We all set on fruits, he eats a ton. But there's very little meats other than chicken nuggest (do those even count?) and an occasional bite of hamburger. He loves white potatoes and sweet potatoes and corn sometimes. But he's been pleading for more yogurt and fruit without even eating everything else. Of course, he'll eat the fruit and things he likes first but I won't give in and let him extras unless he eats something else first. I'm trying my hardest not to get upset, he's just too cute when he whines for more "yo-yo" and "peases".

Can't wait for the baby to start solids so I can show the big brother that his baby can eat other foods too.

How old is he? My DS is 27 months now and JUST starting to eat some more meats. He LOVES mashed potatoes with gravy and small bits of chicken breast in it. I usually have to hide the meat in the potaotes but he loves it. He will eat very small pieces of steak but they have to be tiny. He likes hamburgers now and hot dogs. He loves HAM steaks!

DIP is huge at this age but unfortunately EVERYTHING to him is dip. Ketchup, mayo, mustard, butter ... he wants it all so it's tough when we have stuff on the table and he wants to dip in it.

At this age he primarily eats Fruit, mac and cheese, hot dogs, ham, cheese and peanut butter! He'll eat other meats probaby about twice or three times a week but that's it. He's healthy tough and we will keep offering it to him!

Ours varies from time to time. I did find applesauce and bananas stage 1 at our other grocery store (they claim everything is 10% less, not really) for .10 each. So I bought all they had. I used to buy the stage 2 and split them into 2 feedings. The texture isn't super different for some of them, just the amount. Applesauce is pretty thin the whole time anyway.

Cute jammies, too bad they won't last long. We had the same problem. I brought out so much cute stuff DS used to wear thinking this baby would be on the smaller side like him and he's totally opposite. He's sleeping in his swing right now in a 3/6 sleeper my other son wore when he was 7 months old.

He's 22 months. He loves all types of fruit, plain noodles, and plain rice. He'll eat a variety of most things we eat. I've tried hiding the meat, but he just spits it out. Much like dogs and how they know you've hidden a pill in a treat. I did trick him into eating some stage 3 broccoli chicken noodle dinner by telling him it was soup. He just gobbled it up. He doesn't like to dip in much other than ketchup or sometimes ranch dressing. Only mustard if we are sharing a pretzle. I wish he'd eat a hot dog, he looks at it like, are you kidding me? There's something in my bread... get it out of there! I won't give up trying new things. I just hope he realizes not everything we give him is going to be yucky.

We have our 2 month check-up tomorrow. I was at my dad's this morning and I layed the baby on the bed after changing him. I picked up DS to put him on the bed next to me and the baby was bright red in the face and shaking his arms and legs. I grabbed him and he squealed and screamed. I was so scared. I have no idea what happened. My dad thought maybe he swallowed a gulp of air or had a blocked burp and he couldn't swallow or clear his throat. Now I'm terrified to go to sleep tonight. I'm so glad we can be seen tomorrow and I can ask what's going on. I hope that's all it was. He's never done it before.

Did you find baby food at your big lots?

I havent even checked yet. We went to visit my mom, and she wanted to stock us up on diapers, but I wouldnt let her... we had just done a big diaper trip, so we had no room left for any more.. So she bought us a bunch of baby food. I mean.. Like ALL the stage one that Walmart had on their shelves. She was just grabbing the boxes of it and sticking it in the cart! She is so awesome! So we have a cupboard FULL!!

We have our 2 month check-up tomorrow. I was at my dad's this morning and I layed the baby on the bed after changing him. Jazz used to do that. A LOT. We dont know what was going going on, but it is so scary. She is our delicate baby... Or was. Not so much anymore. But I really think it is just a big gulp of air. Not that it matters when you are totally freaked out over your baby. I would sleep with her in my arms while I was sitting up on the couch.

UGH! What a freaking rotten day. First.. I have been putting off taking Vinny to PT for his neck issues. STUPID, I know. He has torti-something from his position in the womb.. Basically being jammed into my hip bone, and his head really only turns to one side, and is all lumpy and misshaped. So not only do we need to correct the neck thing, which is much better then it used to be, since we are working with him on it.. but still not good.. But I also worry about him needing a... band.. for his head. Nice word for a helmet. I am trying everything I can, but it just hasnt helped enough. SO I have to take him in and get the ball rolling on this. Otherwise he will be in a helmet until he can drive.

Second... And honestly.. for right this moment the WORST.. Both babies are teething. OMG. Ever been around a crabby, feverish, screaming NASTY teething baby? I have two of them. It has been horrid. They are both sleeping right now.. THANK GOODNESS. Other wise it would be off to the Gypsies for them!My head is pounding so bad I feel sick to my stomach.

AND... they turn five months tomorrow. Well Vinny does, then Jazz the next day. But DANG! My babies are getting older way to fast. These are my last babies, and I want them to stay tiny forever.

Please!! Feel free to complain!! I would if I only had one. Shoot.. I DID! I have had singletons, and it not that much harder with twins... just heavier, and in surround sound.

I would.. but I am such a nervous nelly. I still get up a million times at night to check on Jasmine. If she sleeps for to long, I have been known to give her a poke to make sure she is okay.

Staley-it sounds like you have double the fun on everything! I hope you don't mind me asking, but are your bfing? I just ask because I was wondering if anyone could tell me what its like to bf teething babies? I just think it sounds like its very painful! And with having such a bout of thrush and going through that pain, I'm not sure I want to handle the teething!

december-I'm so glad Katie did so well the first day, although I am sure it was a little bittersweet for you!

Patsy-those jammies are adorable! I know what you mean about not being able to wear things for long. Zander is already into a lot of his 3-6 months clothes and growing out of the cute 0-3 months very quickly. I can't wait to find out what he weighs and how long he is on Thursday!

I have my 6 week checkup this morning so wish me luck! I can't wait to go and find out if I am supposed to still be bleeding. It had slacked off but now seems to have gotten heavier in the last few days. (Sorry if this is TMI!)

DS is soooo much a bo*@ boy! I gave him some what my mom calls num-num yesterday for the first time in a couple of days (he has been getting the milk, but just through the bottle) and he was all smiles! He so content when he is attached to me! I just wish he would eat a little quicker when he is attached!

Shootingstarmom-You are so much more modest than I probably am! Of course in public I cover up and usually try to sit in the corner of the table or out of direct line of sight if possible but if I am at home or somewhere where I am comfortable and start to nurse, I just whip it out and forget to look to see who is around! I have gotten a little better and throw a baby blanket over me but still, I think, I was there first so they can leave the room, not me! I know, I am so mean! Not to mention Zander hates to be covered up when he nurses so it makes it difficult!

Now I feel guilty posting about the good start to my day!

Background: There are 5 schools in my county. Four of the schools are in the county schools district. I live in the county seat, and it is a separate school district. I taught for the county at one school my 1st 5 yrs teaching, and then taught 5 yrs at the separate school, moved up north for part of one rotten year and taught there, then came back and taught a year at the separate school. Now I'm moving to another school in the county schools district. Both school districts have their main offices here in my town.

So this morning, I had a "new to the district" teacher meeting at 9. My principal told me yesterday that I didn't have to go, since I've been with the district before. His secretary argued that I did, and he gave in. So I dropped Katie off (her daycare is 2 miles from my house) and drove about 1 1/2 miles to the county offices for my meeting. I walked in the door, and the lady from the county met me and told me I wasn't new and didn't have to stay!!!!! I am going back at 10:30, so I can learn the new computer programs. But other than that, I have the morning off!

Katie was great again this morning. She broke into a full face smile when she saw her "teachers." When I called dh to tell him I was heading home, he asked if I was picking her up. Since I'm going back at 10:30, I'm just leaving her in daycare until afterward, and cleaning up my house and washing some clothes.



As for the teething, ds12 NEVER bit me. We always said he loved nursing so much that he wasn't going to do anything to mess it up! I never got that far with dd9. I'm hoping Katie goes easy on me too!
