The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

I've been trying to remember that, too. Both of my older kids had blue eyes for months (but I don't remember exactly how many!) before ds12's turned green, and dd9's turned hazel. Katie's eyes are a beautiful shade of blue, and I'd love for them to stay that way.

But I can remember people talking about my eyes in early elementary. They were a blue green color, and teachers always commented on them. Now they are green. So I guess they can change colors after many year?:confused3

Yesterday was a sad day. One of our friends died of cancer. Her father and dh's father worked together, and she used to babysit dh (who is 37) and his little brother when they would go on company trips. She would be about 40 or 41. She was also ds12's librarian, so he is very upset. I'm sure there are 100s of other kids upset today as well, as word gets out. She has only known she had it for about 6 wks. Dh picked up ds12 the last day of school (8 wks ago) and went in to talk to her. She was fine! After school was out, she started having problems going to the bathroom, and went to the dr. for a checkup. That is when they found it.

She was married once when she was younger, and he cheated. She has lived with her boyfriend for years now. He was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago, and she has taken care of him all this time. He is still living with the cancer, but doing great. She never had kids. I feel so sorry for her parents. She and the boyfriend lived right next door to them. She had one brother, who also never had kids.

Lucas' eyes are still the dark grey color... they've lightened up a lot from the grey they were at birth, and we can see a bit of blue in them... but they're still VERY dark and definitely grey.
DH's eyes transition between green and blue, but mostly they're blue... and mine are blue.
Just waiting on Lucas' to settle down. :goodvibes

How sad about your friend. It sounds like a lot of people will be touched by her death.

Me, too.

Kinda random, but how long before their eyes are actually color they'll probably be?

Lucas is 7wks today and it stills as though his eyes are changing...
Alex has always had brown eyes.. not surprising since he is half black. But Kaylees eyes are steel gray... and still changing. Jasmine and Vincent both have blue eyes, and Im sure they will change over time.

Im so sorry..

I'm really curious about how Sarah's labor was..

I hope it was wonderful and she's got Lily right now. :)

Ugh... It has a been a ROUGH week for me!! I havent been sleeping because the babies kept rolling out of their crib, and into our bed.. So we moved the crib away from the bed.. and Vinny is ALL over Jazz. Seriously. Its like WWE in their crib.:lmao: He is practically doing cartwheels in bed. Its just crazy!! She doesn't wake up when he is mauling her.. but he wakes up when she is kicking him in the face. So now he is in my bed, and she is alone in the crib. She does okay.. but he doesnt. I dont know what to do. I am going to put the porta crib up for him to sleep in. I hope that works.. They are driving me batty!!

Why is it that babies can sleep sooo good during the day, but when the sun goes down, they want to stay up? I just don't get it. It has been taking me over an hour to get Natatlie to fall asleep at 10 pm. I am usually in bed by 11:30. During the day she falls asleep 10 minutes after her bottle. This is one crazy baby.:cloud9:

That is crazy. I'm sorry Natalie has her days and nights messed up. Does she sleep in her nursery? One of the suggestions someone gave me that first week was to leave the light on so that she doesn't maybe know that it is night. There is a street light right outside Lucas' window, though, so I never tried it. The radio fixed him.

Lucas has slept through the night all week, but I doubt it'll last. I'm talking alll through the night. The first night I gave him a bottle at 11pm, he got up at 10am. The next night he ate at 10pm and got me up at 9:30. Tuesday night bottle was at 9 and he woke me up at 8:30... Last night bottle was at 10 and he woke me up about 9.
I hope it stays this way but I know that it won't.

Wow! That was really fast for Lucas. You are one lucky Mommy. Natalie has slept 5 1/2 and 6 hours 2 times. I thought that was really good. Today she turned 5 weeks and is around 10 pounds. I can't wait for the whole night thing to happen. Right now my husband is in with her, she has the hiccups. It is 11:40 pm so she should be hitting the sack soon:rolleyes1

Omg.. our very bestest friends just found out they are having twins too!!!:banana::banana: I am soooo excited for them!! She just found out today, and called me on her way home from the ultrasound. She is SO freaked out. I am way more excited then she is right now. :lmao: It will be her 5th and 6th babies.

Oh... and I put up my porta crib today.. So in my room I have 2 cribs, 2 dressers, a big ole TV and stand and a queen sized bed. Good lord. We need to move. :lmao: Oh.. and four big ole laundry hampers for everyones clothes. And I still have room to throw down a couple of sleeping bags for the biggers on nights they cant sleep.

I am definitely lucky. Another reason why Lucas might just be the only one kid for me... he's definitely spoiling me on the realities of having a baby! I went to my regular Dr. yesterday and he laid on the exam table the whole time just staring at us and my Dr. kept saying "That is the calmest newborn I have ever seen."
Makes a momma proud, and grateful!, that is for sure!!!
(DH HATES when Lucas gets hiccups, he always feels so bad for him.)

Geez, Staley-- you're crammed in there tight!!

It's got to be great having them close by, though, isn't it? DH thinks I'm crazy that if he's still awake when Lucas gets hungry I'll bring him back in the bed to give him his bottle. I just like everyone being together.

How great for your friend!!!! #5 and #6? Oh my!! She can definitely probably use your guidance-- you seem to have that twin thing down and I bet she is overwhelmed!! Are her other kids older?
My friend that I've been crossing my fingers stays pregnant had an ultrasound Monday and they said the heartbeat was weak so she has another Wednesday I think. I think I might be as nervous as she is, I want this for her so badly. And of course I'd love to have a friend with a baby!

I am sooo excited Disney released Free Dining for our dates!!! I can't wait to get back from my errands and call to see if it is a better deal than the Pin Code I have booked right now!! WooHoo!!

Katie hasn't spent any time in her pack n play (which is her crib-all we have room for) before today. Everyone kept saying it was too hard. I found some Eddie Baur quilted sheets online at Target, and they came today. She has been in it twice today so far, and played (she is actually playing with her doll right now-hugging it and smiling at it!princess:) for about 20 min before getting fussy. I'm crossing my fingers that she will start sleeping in it, for at least part of the night.

Dh is at the funeral for our friend right now. We dropped the older kids off at my sister's house, and took Katie with us to the visitation last night. We stood in line for almost 2 hrs to view the body! I guess she is the 1st of our age group to die from natural causes, and it really hit us hard. I just couldn't get Katie out in that crowd again today.

I know what you mean! Were you the one on the other thread that had cases of Swine Flu popping up the last few weeks of your pregnancy??

I got a TON of crap from DH's family for not taking Lucas to my deceased FIL's friend's birthday party a few weeks ago. :confused3
I didn't want to drag Lucas out around people we don't know while he is still so young. I told DH if he'd gotten sick it would have killed me, since he didn't need to be there. Can never be too careful!!

...I use Lucas' Pack-N-Play as a changing table downstairs. I hope Katie will sleep in it for you!! :)

There weren't any cases here then, but I was freaking out over the possibility. There are currently 3 confirmed cases in my county right now.

you are not alone...Emma sleeps much better during the day than night.
Dr. told me she will eventually get it right, and that should be before she is 3 months!!! :confused3. She is so diff. than DS.

It takes about an hour to get her to sleep after a bottle. DS was down with in 20 minutes. They are all very diff.

----

Someone mentioned eye color changes. Emma was born with blue eyes, I think they are turn brown.

She went for her 3 week check-up...she is now 8lb 12oz. I could not believe she gained a pound and a half in two weeks. We don't go back till the beginning of Sept. They change so fast it is amazing.

Oh wow, I had heard nothing about it here whenever you were posting... and as of 7/3/09 we have 74 confirmed cases in my county. :scared1:

Stacy, I just realized TOMORROW is the day!!

I upgraded us from POP to CBR and got the free regular dining plan and now I have 1 day to pick restaurants and times. Eek!!

Crossing my fingers I don't have issues getting Le Cellier.
That and OHana are my only "must haves"!!

I finally finished trying to get it all figured out. I'll have to go book and look for your itinerary and see if we'll be the same place at the same time that week.
Hopefully I can get all the ADRs I want in the morning. Only truly worried about Le Cellier!

10/24- arrive at CBR, MK and Tony's Town Square (D)
10/25- Epcot and Le Cellier (D)
10/26- Magic Kingdom and Chef Mickeys (D)
10/27- Magic Kingdom and Kona (D)
10/28- Epcot and Big River Grille and Brewing (D)
10/29- Hollywood Studios and Sci-Fi (D)
10/30- Animal Kingdom and Ohana (D)
10/31- Home.

...I just realized I did all dinner. Oh well. :)

You do know you can book online now, I think after midnight on the day your window opens.

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/restaurants/

It opens up at 6:01 am Eastern Time.

I checked the Online ADR sticky on the restaurant board. :rotfl:
I figured it might open up at midnight, too, but I suppose they want to give people without the internet a better chance. I believe the phones open at 7am.

I set an alarm for 5:55... I should have known not to even bother with it. I haven't slept. Insomnia is seriously aggravating. :sad2: So far pregnancy is the only cure I've discovered.
