The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

We won't be doing a baptism for either kid, but is anyone else thinking along the lines of wills??

I have to write a will/obituary and epitath for myself for this psychology class (bit morbid, don't you think?) so I've been thinking a lot lately.

We need to meet with someone and make some serious decisions.
We talked while I was pregnant with Lucas and decided somewhat strongly on my brother. Except now that he lives in Australia I think that will need to be reevaluated. Probably my parents, but I still think we should put two names as a "just in case" measure. Scary stuff to think about.

I'm also having my "big" ultrasound tomorrow night.. I had some bleeding over the weekend so I saw my OB this morning and she wants a look at things, so she is hoping to kill both birds with one ultrasound. I'm so ready to find out!! :)

Patsy, it seems to be flying by! At least for me-probably not for you!

We need to do wills, but haven't. I don't know who I would want to have the kids. Mil probably has the most energy and time, but I don't really want her, or anyone else, raising my kids. I have such different values and beliefs from most of my family and in-laws. I want my kids to be open-minded and experience the world, not live in some backwards abyss. Maybe that sounds harsh, but that is how I feel.:guilty: I love my family, but they tend to be negative, and never go anywhere or do anything. Most people here are also very fundamentalist, and I just don't believe that way.

:hug::hug::hug:

You are NOT a disappointment! You gave Emma the best possible start and now she's moved on to a new phase.

Sorry. I do understand how hard that is. I only got a few days of nursing dd10, and it has bothered me all these years.

Thanks everybody! :grouphug: It's so weird to think how big she is already. Time is just flying by! But I did enjoy it (even though when I was pregnant I SWORE I wouldn't BF, just pump and bottle), now I'm going to miss that bonding time. Oh well, she's so much fun!
Here's a pic from a couple of weeks ago.

No, it's flying by for me, too!!
The only thing I can figure out is that Lucas is keeping me busy and that I haven't been doing the obsessive reading of pregnancy articles online, searching for cribs, bedding, swings, etc. that I did with Lucas.
I ordered his crib at 13 weeks and I don't even have the guest room cleared out yet for this one. :rotfl:
I keep telling myself I can do a lot of that once classes stop. I think we decided to list our guest bedroom set for sale because we're not sure when we'd need it again (we plan to move out of this area but at the very least will not be staying in this house forever) but it sorta makes me sad. Stupid pregnancy hormones. :lmao:

I really need to start looking at cribs, though. I'm taking the glider/changing table out of Lucas' room so that makes some of it easier. I want to get an oversized chair for Lucas' room that is big enough for one of us to sit in with him to read. I really want to go to IKEA!!

I don't think it's wrong to feel that way AT ALL! We don't want people fighting over the kids if something happens to us, so we want to get some stuff in writing!

I think we're going to have to look outside the family to get some names in order.

I'm so excited for tonight!!!!! Two boys or one of each??

*eta*
Do you think it would be okay to paint the changing table? Anyone paint furniture for the nurseries?

We have a will.. My sister gets my kids if anything happen to us.. and we get her kids. Well.. I think we got the good end of the stick.. Her kids are pretty much grown! 18 and 15..:lmao: But it was something we decided even before Mikalah was born.

I have two dresses done for WDW!!!

Some days I wish I could be the baby, sleeping blissfully in his swing, while I'm sitting here stressing out over the water that is filling my basement in this awful rainstorm in the Boston area. UGH!

What a mess. Hope the New Englanders are OK out there.

OMG Those are soo cute!! I want one! (for Lily not me!)

Amanda she is so cute! (where in the world was that pic taken? looks like purse heaven?)

Did you guys get a lawyer to do your will? I have no idea how to go about getting one.

I love the minnie dresses!! I need to learn to sew - I even have a sewing machine that I don't use.

Thanks!! I think we did it through a paralegal. I cant really remember now... Its been a few years. We should probably think about redoing it. Even though the only thing we have of value is the kids!:lmao:

 I hope it turns out okay.

Looking at those pictures made me realize how much my floor needed to be vacuumed! :lmao: YUCK!

Megan (did I get it right this time?? Staley?? :rotfl:) were you happy with going through a paralegal??

We talked a bit with the estate lawyer shortly after my FIL died and she sorta confused us. We wanted to try to be specific but not so specific that a few years could outdate the will.

We have stock/bonds/savings that are causing us the biggest trouble. We can't decide whether or not they should go into a trust in the names of the kids or if they should go to whoever gets custody of them to help pay for their care. Though some of the bonds we already re-issued as POD to Lucas.
Seems like there area a lot of "If this is the case, we wants this to happen" but we can't decide 100%. I could so see our will having a crappton of stipulations!
We really need to figure out whether or not DH's VA benefits will pass to them. That could change a lot.

*eta*I also meant to say that the dresses are totally cute!! Are you planning on making many more?? Love to see pictures of those, too. :)

With all you have, I could totally see going through an attorney. All we have are our kids.. and some savings. So its easy for us. Whomever gets the kids.. my sister.. gets everything to help care for them. We have life insurance, savings, and 401K. The life insurance amounts to 1 years income for DH. All of it goes to the care of the children. Now that we are making more money, and have more kiddos... We should probably redo things.. Just to make it up to date.

Thanks!! I am making princess dresses for them, and a few other little sundresses for them. I was also thinking about making them some little aprons to put over the minnie dresses for Chef Mickeys. I FINALLY found some really cute fabric for the boys.. I am going to make them some button down shirts and matching shorts. I got them some dark blue Mickey Mouse fabric.. Plus I have some flame fabric Alex loves.. Not very disney, but Ill figure something out. Im hoping to get a couple of days where I can just sew all day. I should be able to knock out a bunch of stuff then.

Yes.. Megan! Thats me!

Your dresses are adorable! I love making clothes for Disney! Wish I had a little girl to make dresses for!

For the flame fabric, you could always embroider or transfer on Lightning McQueen or someone like that!

The dresses are so cute! My kids will just have to settle for what I can buy-sewing is NOT my thing!

Patsy, do you have a feeling? I just knew Katie was Noah-my whole family did! It was quite a shock when the tech told us she was sure it was a girl. Now, I wouldn't have it any other way!

Megan, those dresses are too cute! I don't sew either.

Patsy any word yet? You had an u/s today right?
