The NEW WL FAQ (Part 5) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

I just read a REALLY bad post about the WL on the resort page. At first I was laughing because it was so negative that it was silly. I know that some people have a bad start to their trip and do not recover. Then I started to get a little nervous because we will be staying at the WL in Feb. Please read the post and tell me that this op was having a bad day. I think it was tittled miserable stay at the WL. I know that everyone has their own ideas and opinions and I respect that but I hope this person is in the minority here.

the only downfall to my trip was that it was filled for flag family
It was really packed there(actually the whole darn WDW was packed
from 12-6--> 12-12)...so I couldnt really PLAY with my super kewl camera
I did get some really nice Illuminations pics though

I stay at the WL lodge about every 4-6 weeks for business...I have been in several rooms around the hotel and while I find it noisy in the hallways, once I am in the room, I do not hear the din of the lobby. Also, I find that things do quiet down around 10-11:00...might be pretty late for those of you with young kids, but not bad for a night owl like myself.

The hotel is lovely...my personal favorite place to stay at Disney...but different strokes for different folks, I guess...

Relax and enjoy...you are on vacation!!

I have read other posts by that person and they are mostly negative in tone. I wanted to reply, but decided it was not worth it.

I love the WL and am so looking forward to staying there again.

I won't even bother commenting on that post. I can only say that it appears as though some people are very demanding and impatient.

Also, Christmas is the "peak" season at Disney and it is known to be the "busiest" time of year there. It's not that unpredictable that there were no other rooms to move to.

I have stayed at The Poly and was woken several times by mousekeeping. If you have a beef, go to the desk and politely explain it.

One thing I can promise you is this, you will/should have a good time at WL. If you don't, I will be surprised.

I have some pretty high expectations and they have always fullfilled them for me. :)

Check out some pictures of WL in my photo gallery in my signature. There are some Christmas ones there too so you can see the decorations for yourself. To me, it really is "quite" magical. :)

Worry not! You will have a good time!

P.S. Are you doing concierge? Have you considered it?

Fred

I am feeling better now. My family could have fun in a paper bag. So I will not worry. We have eaten at the WCC and we thought that the lobby was amazing. I can only imagine how it must look decorated.

I don't think that my husband will spring for conceirge. I already upgraded to courtyard from standard so I don't want to push it. Even though it sounds great.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I sure wish MY family was that easy to please! Well...I'm sure the WL has GOT to be better/more fun than a paper bag, right?

I'm also counting down the days to my stay! We stayed at AKL last year and I read quite a few negative things about it...none of which was an issue for us! I'm sure we'll LOVE WL! :cool1:

I want that job too! :)

LOL...sorry...that job is taken... :cool1:

I am in sales and Disney is one of my accounts...

It's a good thing!!

Love, love, loved the WL :cool1:

Booked standard view - had rooms 3136 ( double beds) & 3138 (bunk beds) overlooking the villas

Sent up balloons and a card from Minnie for my DD's birthday :Pinkbounc

Girls loved the pool & Old Faithful, I had the best night's sleep & enjoyed the boat ride to MK, my parents were really taken with their first onsite hotel.

Definitely a place we'd like to stay for longer

Have balcony views to post later :D

ya the villas are for DVC...but corect me if im wrong....if there is a time the villas arent booked, they release them to the public sometimes....
or you could rent points like we did for this....

dont quote me though about the public cause i was just put in my wilderness lodge corner for not knowing as much as some other poster..so i havent earned my knowledge badge yet,,,,,but i still loved staying there :)

and no that poster was not from this thread...everyone here is very nice.

it was actually from the thread of which the person was disgusted with their stay, the post u got scared of,,,,,well check that post...apparently this
person is NEVER happy when they goto disney

Are the studios and Villas for DVC members only?

I never get involved with negative threads because they always get so nasty. I did read that thread that you spoke of. Stay here in this happy place. Have you ever had a problem with noise at the WL?
Tara :flower1:

we only stayed at the lodge this one time and were at the villas....in a completely different building far away from whispering canyon
but whenever going by the canyon it was a bit noisy...but its all a part of the fun of eatin there.....

Yes you can stay in the villas and not be a DVC member but only when they have a certain number of rooms available.

I too saw that thread...I was tempted to post, but decided not to because it seemed they were looking to argue.

Are there clock radios at WL? When it is really noisy at our house I put on classical music and she falls righ to sleep. I was wondering if I had to bring my own radio.

Yes...there are clock radios in the room next to the beds...also, you could turn on the TV to one of the stations with just background music and close the doors to the cabinet...
