The NEW WL FAQ (Part 5) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

I just want to say a big HELLO to all WL Lovers out there. I visited the last WL FAQ thread DAILY over the summer. I had to cancel my 10-night Octber trip b/c I became a teacher. ANYWAY, DH and I are DEFINITELY heading to the WL from 2/06/05-2/10/05!! I'm so excited!

I booked a Woods View with the code, and I requested a room over-looking the lobby. Are there any locations or rooms that you experts can suggest that have a good view and over-look the lobby?

I really appreciate any advice!

Thanks for a quick response to my question. I'll definitely ask for that view.
What about the bunk bed rooms. Are they located in the rooms with a view of the otter pond? Does anyone know if the top bunk has a bed rail?

I'm pretty sure that the bunk bed rooms are sprinkled all over the resort and not just in one section so I bet there is one with a view of the pond.

The top bunk does have a rail- on all sides. You access the top bunk by the foot of the bunks.

Happy planning!

 Hi Erika!

Glad to see you back posting! How exciting to have a trip back in the planning stages!!

I can't help with the room question- I had a Woods View on our first trip that over looked the lobby but the view was of green roofs and trees. However- I totally LOVED opening the door each day to the lobby. I found I was hardly in the room to enjoy a view even if I had one! But I bet one of our Vets can help you out.

So good to hear from you, Liz!!! I really missed it on the DIS. . .It's a LOT of work being a 1st grade teacher, but the cute (and funny) kids make up for it a bit ;).

Barring an emergeny, there is no way, we'll NOT go :D . I booked the flights through Expedia, so it's basically non-refundable.

Do you think that paying for Woods View is worth it? I wanted to book the Standard View with a code, but there were no rooms left. I keep thinking about calling to see if anything opened up with a code. . . ..can't make up my mind. I wish we could stay longer, . . .but I'll take ANY WDW I can get :hyper: !!!

Anyway, are there any WL Vets going during the same time as me: Feb. 6-Feb.10 2005??

I 'll be back. . .

:wave2:

ERIKA : soooooo glad you are back on these boards !!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Last August we booked Woods view and were upgraded to courtyard , very nice view: we had the river flowing down just in front of our balcony ....... very peaceful !!!!!!!!

No matter which room you are in .......you are going to have a great time there with Humphrey !!!!!!!!

Don't forget to ask to be the FLAG FAMILY ..... at check-in : we did and it was a WONDERFUL experience !!

Even though I felt my Woods View wasn't anything to write home about- it was quiet. So paying for a Woods View was worth it for me to ensure that I wasn't overlooking the parking or the loading dock with all the beeping and backing up truck noise. There are some Woods Views that do have a view of the Castle- but I don't think they also open to the lobby.

I think Betsy (disneyDMBnut) might be going in early Feb- she has gone during that time the past two years I think!

I usually go in Febuary, but since I am going in 2 weeks and I am going on the cruise in October..I am passing this February. I love to go then,,very cool and no crowds but I am putting myself in a self inposed moritorium till October so I can save my $$

I was there from November 14 - 21 last year and they were up already - so you may get lucky!

Hi Erika!!!:wave2: :wave2: :wave2:

So glad you're back! You were one of the first people to welcome me to the DIS when I started posting. When I didn't see you posting, I hoped everything was O.K. Congrats on your teaching position! Teaching is such an important occupation - you can make such a difference. :teacher:

O.k. You've all convinced me to return to Wilderness Lodge. I can't even begin to describe how excited we are to be returning! This is our favorite Hotel!!!! I was able to book Woods view w/ AAA discount for $238 per night 4/30-5/7/05. Keeping my fingers crossed for better discounts!

Can anyone tell me how long of a bike ride is it from WL to Fort Wilderness (specifically the petting zoo and Trails End)?

Congrats!

It's about a mile. And not lite, so go during the day.

We've stayed at AKL twice and are planning our May 2005 trip to WL. I've tried searching to no avail. Does anyone know what category the bunk bed rooms are at WL? Can I get standard or woods view? The bunk beds are a big part of the trip for my boys.

Bunkbeds are in Wood View, Courtyard view and if I remember correctly, Some standard views.
Someone want to confirm Standard??

Does anyone know whether or not I could purchase park hopper tickets through the Disney website and have them waiting for us at WL? If not, would it be better to contact WL or Disney direct? Thanks!

I am pretty sensitive about ticket purchases so I always wait till I get to the hotel to order my tickets. Just my preference of course.

If you are staying concierge, I believe that the IPO can make ticket arrangements for you.

Hope this helps.

We are heading back to WL in a couple weeks. Love the Christmas decorations! Has anyone upgraded to concierge at check-in lately? I was wondering what they are charging now. We did it a couple years ago and it was $30 a night extra well worth it but I am sure the cost has gone up. Anyone have a recent experience they can relate?
Thanks. See ya there 11/28!

I am still in shock, but I called today and asked if they had any AP rates at WL for Christmas... and they did! ($458 courtyard view for 3 nights, 12/25-12/28, including tax) So, this will be the first time in almost 30 years that I will spend Christmas in WDW (even though I've gone many times, it's the 1st time we do it during the Holidays). We are sooo excited... We stayed at WL last year for my birthday and loved it (I wasn't crazy about the concierge, but I loved the resort). It will be a surprise for my DD7 who know we'll be going to Orlando to spend Christmas with her grandparents, but doesn't know we'll stay at WDW for part of the vacation.... I bought a Mickey dressed in winter attire and plan to have it sent to the room as a surprise for her as well (sent by Mickey of course ;) )

I didn't make any requests but I plan to call back. The most important request for me is non-smoking. I am thinking of requesting north wing as well. Anything else I should request?

Our room had a refrigerator, but it was concierge. I'm not sure if the other rooms have the fridge as well...

The concierge upgrades have been going for about $55 to $60 a night extra including tax.

Does anyone know if the gift shop (Mercantile?) has any "special" plush toys? (For example AKL's shop carried the Safari Mickey and others like they have at AK.) Are there any plush that are specifically themed to WL? I'd like to have a gift basket made for DD and thought it might be nice to include a sort of WL-specific toy rather than a "regular" one.
