Update:

As some of you may know, we will be staying at the Dolphin this Christmas....long story short, my DH asked how much the room will cost. With my Teachers' discount, a normally $384/nite room will cost $189 - $212.78 with tax and fees! I told him it was either THAT [the Dolphin] or stay at the Pop. He wasn't too keen on that idea; he doesn't care for the Values or Mods...in fact, he said that the ONLY places he'll stay is the AKL or WL, and frankly, :confused3 who am I to argue with THAT???!!?!? :rolleyes1

Hey Kimmar, did you get the exact dates nailed down? We may cross paths.

....well Tim, so far we have the 23rd to the 30th....I still don't know if we are flying or not (still crazily combing the 'web' for a good deal!) - if we DO decide to drive, I probably will be renting a *GASP* mini-van.....;)

Looks like our dates do cross a bit, we will be there 20-24. And what is wrong with a mini-van??????

Hello people

This is my first post, so be kind !

Having read this board and spent hours on the Disney site I've just booked for Oct 17th - 25th 2008 at the Wilderness Lodge.

We have a Deluxe room for the wife and I plus the 2 children ( 10+4 ) and a standard room on the concierge level for my in laws.

I've requested a Deluxe room on the 5th floor, seems a good option, but not asked for any specific view etc............... recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sure I'll have a thousand questions in the next 12 months, so I hope you will be patient with me. :)

First WELCOME to the FAQ Thread and to the DIS Boards.

I love the deluxe rooms located at the very end of the South Wing because you can watch the EWP right from your balcony. Since they have now given these rooms access to the Club Level, I would request the rooms half way down the South Wing near the mid-point elevators. Rooms 6123, 5123, 4123 would give you a great view and the easiest access to the elevators and the 7th floor. Click on the link below to find a general room lay-out so you can see were the rooms are located:

Wilderness Lodge Room #'s and Locations

There are 25 "Deluxe Rooms" (Junior Suites) They are 1000, 1003, 1166, 1169, 2000, 2003, 2123, 2166, 2169, 3000, 3003, 3123, 3166, 3169, 4000, 4003, 4123, 4166, 4169, 5000, 5003, 5123, 5166, 5169 and 6123.

Rooms X000 are the rooms in the North wing that are at the very end of the hall on the left corner, Contemporary side they are Lake/tree view, X003 are the 2 doors down on the right corner with a pool/lake/tree view rooms X123 are halfway down the south wing in the left corner overlooking the pool/lake/geyser. Room X166 is the room at the far end of the south wing on the left corner with a lake view and rooms X169 are 2 doors down on the right corner also with a lake view. Rooms 2123, 3123, 1166, 1169, 2166, and 2169 have "doormer balconies, due to the design of the building these rooms have brick on the balcony railing so you can not see out unless you are standing up.

Hope this helped,
Beckie

Hi,

I may need to do some work (gasp!) for my grad school classes while at the WL this weekend. Are there any public computers at WL where I can use MS Word and internet? I really can't justify bringing my very very very heavy laptop down with me...

If so, are there costs for the computer time and/or the internet time?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the information, and welcome.

I thought I had read that the 6th floor rooms had an overhang which restricted your view, and that the best rooms were as you say at the end of the wings.

I've probably got overload with the amount of information I've read recently.

I'm not overly concerned about a walk down the hall to the elevator, as long as both rooms are located in the same wings, and I would guess with a 4yr old as far away from the elevator so she doesn't get woken up. ( Is noise from the elevators a problem ? )

The idea of watching the EWP from the balcony is very appealing and I'm sure the kids would enjoy it.

More decisions....................

As long as we are on a high floor I guess we will be more than happy, I just want to try and make it right for our first stay on site.

Oh, another question........ what would be a good recommendation for the room on the 7th floor, more questions, sorry :goodvibes

Does anyone have any experience of the rooms *123 ?

Welcome to the WL! You'll fall in love with it. Can I ask when you booked your deluxe room for Oct 2008? I've been trying to get a deluxe in that time frame and haven't had any luck. Maybe some more rooms just opened.

Thanks, I just tried many differnet date combos, and nothing came up. I guess I missed the boat this time. I'll keep trying.

Wonderful. I hope you have a great time. I'm staying in a Courtyard view and should check in sometime between 1:30 & 3:00. Maybe we'll run into each other. :)

Reading this made me soooooo thankful that my MBA is finally complete (just finished 2 months ago) :cool1: I've been there in trying to find internet access including this last trip which involved taking 2 laptops (1 for work and 1 for classes).

Anyways, there are NO public access computers at the WL. If you choose not to take a laptop you would have to go do one of the "convention" hotels and use their business center. The two that I am aware of are Contemporary and Coronado Springs. As the Contemporary is only a quick boat ride away it would be your best bet. However, the times are sometimes not the greatest.

Also it can be quite costly. If you post this as a question on the esort board someone should be able to answer the cost or provide you with a phone # for the resort to ask the business center.

IMO if you need internet access I'd lug the laptop. Good luck!
